Yeah, there's one on the other side, comes with two, as they aren't interchangeable. Actually does barely clip in a deep back pocket like my cargoes. If you grip the thing toward the back instead of the front, becomes a short machete. - OS

After much experimentation I actually settled on a quite inexpensive choice, the Meyerco Law Dog. Perfect blend for both utility and SD, of length, concealment, comfort, near full grip both forehand and backhand, sharp point yet beefy enough overall, etc. Cutting edge is 2.75", overall is 6.5". No, it's not the best steel, one of the lesser 440's AFAIK, but stays plenty sharp enough and easy to keep that way. Never did find a US production made one that offered everything that suited me. The Kabar Eskabar came close, but wanted sharper point for any possible social work, although for a general utility knife it's a good choice, and you can get scales for it now, too. The sheath that came with the Law Dog was "okay", but had Al Welke make me a custom kydex for $40 that holds it more securely, more than I paid for the knife, sent him the knife for fitting. Wore it daily for a year and a half, off and on now. There are lots of smaller production neckers that are quite nifty for utility use, I particularly like the CRKT Minimalist, never aware you're wearing it. - OS

Again, there is no firearm "brandishing" statute in TN. If not directly threatening someone, would however fit in definitions of disorderly conduct nicely. - OS

I think you'll find 4" to be cumbersome for EDC. I damn near turned into a neck knife collector, I tried so many -- I wore the CS Counter Tac II for a couple months, double edged 3 3/8", but eventually went with something overall smaller. I used the chain it came with, but could have used lanyard. It's actually in my box of things to sell, once I get a round tuit. - OS

NRA: Obama Admin to Sign UN Arms Trade Treaty
Oh Shoot replied to JohnC's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Maybe not this Senate. But if signed, can be ratified anytime in the future as I understand it? - OS -
You mean, a neck knife? (the only application I can think of for "hanging from a lanyard in a holster").

Benghazi, AP phone, and IRS scandals. Changing minds?
Oh Shoot replied to Randall53's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, that would be fine with me. Dunno if any folks were jailed for contempt in front of congressional hearings, but lots have been for contempt of court, which seems to be some sort of clear cut distinction. Judy Miller, currently of FOX, spent a couple of months in jail for refusing to testify at a federal grand jury when she was still with NY Times, for example. Can't right off point to any federal employees that have been jailed for contempt in any situation? - OS -
If indeed any of those firearms were - loaded - not stored in separate compartment of vehicle or if not applicable, - guns or ammo not in locked container then they didn't trump the "safe passage" part of FOPA. Understand that when you travel through enemy territory. Much more troubling are those incidents where airline passengers with checked firearms have been diverted and arrested when they claimed their luggage. I don't know what the current ruling is on that, or if it has been sussed out at all so that passengers aren't culpable under state laws for behavior that was beyond their control. - OS

Neither could any of our own federal statutes, eh? All those many federal firearms laws aren't infringement at all, I reckon. - OS -
Thought I saw a post about somebody shooting there just the other day? "Due to inclement weather, Prentice Cooper Shooting Range Closure has been extended. The original re-open date was scheduled for Thursday May 2; however the project will not be finished until mid-May. We expect our re-open date to be May 16. If the project is completed before then, we'll post that information online. The range information line is (423) 658-9201." http://www.tn.gov/twra/firingranges.html - OS

I mentioned in some other thread sounded like Hussein and Hillary were bombed together on that night. As a joke. Hmmm... - OS -
I'd say if you were in an witnessed argument and you hiked your shirt to show your heater, that might suffice, HCP or not. "Simple" assault only requires that one "Intentionally or knowingly causes another to reasonably fear imminent bodily injury". Do same with a gun visible and you've got aggravated assault. - OS
-
"brandishing" is not mentioned in TCA to best of my knowledge. However simple assault without contact is a misdemeanor, but with a gun involved becomes aggravated assault, a felony. In short, showing a gun as a threat in any way could be determined as aggravated assault. 39-13-101 and 39-13-102 - OS

Yep, having that and a compatible Glock in "close proximity", one could absolutely be charged with making a NFA firearm, as there is no "useful purpose" for that frame other than to make one. And "close proximity" is not defined, so yeah, I consider anywhere on my property "close enough" to be possible trouble. If you also had a 16" barrel that would fit involved in the mix, like the model that c.a. linked, you'd be okay, but without it, oops. Not illegal to sell it though, any more than it is to sell a <16" barrel for a rifle or a vertical grip or stock that could also be used in an illegal config. But I see it as pretty damn low not to mention the legal necessities involved in his ad. At least the company site says, "Product Description **All NFA rules apply to RONI purchases. Please read terms during check out process.**", and one assumes you would get more detailed info during that. - OS

Meh. If you believe SAAMI. CIP rates both .223 and 5.56 the same max pressure. 5.56 leade is longer to better accommodate longer bullets is real difference. If you're not shooting above 62gr, probably not see any diff in long term throat wear by shooting 5.56 in .223 chamber. Main reason you see .223 chamber specific anymore is for precision target and varmint use, as .223 is not as precise from a 5.56 chamber. - OS

That one has been in my AR pistol since last November, just fine. Got it for $114 delivered counting the discount we got back then. But $154 delivered is darn good right now for a quality M16 style BCG. - OS edit: nobody still received theirs from "Tactical Advantage", huh? Y'all started cc charge back? - OS

Thousands of French Households Taxed Over 100%
Oh Shoot replied to thundersnow's topic in General Chat
Well, the US gives tax rebates to people who weren't out a dime in taxes in the first place, so we're probably not that far behind that curve. - OS
