  1.   Well, worse case, it's 11 months 29 days too long. ;)   Just so you're aware.   - OS
  2. Just a note, any sight or scope can be a quick disconnect with a QD riser or scope mounts. Often need the extra height to clear flip down rear sight or co-index anyway. I run QD mounts for conventional scopes on two of my ARs: - OS
  3. Very nice, but "every day carry"? Like, everywhere?   - OS
  4.   They're nice to sit around and cuddle with, but eventually even a newbie owner actually wants to shoot it. :)   - OS
  5. Can tell you that you'll need to go by a state full service center to do it, not just any county DMV office,  and the only one in Knox County is the Strawberry Plains office, and you do NOT want to go there (long wait).   Even the gal at one of the Knoxville DMV satellite offices recommended I go to Maryville (Blount Co.)  or Clinton (Anderson Co.).   I went to the Maryville one, took about 45min to renew mine two weeks ago.   318 Home Avenue Maryville, TN 37801 (865) 981-2359   http://www.tn.gov/safety/driverlicense/dllocationserv.shtml#full   I assume you've got current DOT medical card.   If not, walk-in clinic in short West Knox does it for $55:   1300 Old Weisgarber Rd, Knoxville, TN 37909 (865) 584-2146       - OS
  6. Besides of course as Tony Soprano, I think of him mostly as a pretty scary heavy in films like True Romance, Fallen, 8mm, etc.   He had a lot of great roles left in him, alas.   - OS
  7.   If affordable ammo doesn't free up by first of the year, they may start selling for near scrap metal prices.   - OS
  8.   I got my 88 year old Mom (in 'Nooga incidentally) a Jitterbug (Great Call) account/phone a number of years ago, she just keeps it as emergency phone, seldom uses it.   My opinion, it's TOO simple. You absolutely have no options to go directly to a function when you open it, except to dial from scratch. You have to hit "yes/no" over and over to get to anything. Even bringing up your phone list requires two "no" responses, best I remember. And adding someone to list is so counter-intuitive, even I have to play with it every time I'm down there and she wants somebody added.   But it's a nice phone sound wise, probably the biggest flip phone there is (which is fine in a purse, but like carrying a full size Glock in a pocket), seals around ear nicely, no shifting around to find the audio sweet spot, etc.   She's actually gotten to where she can operate the antique RAZR 3 that I carry better than her own "simple" phone, and she uses Vtech cordless ones as her main phone, which actually have every phone gizmotic function you can think of.  And remember, my mom is zero computer/digital literate, took off and on instructions for a year to get her competent with Comcast remote!   Point is, assuming she uses it much at all, even your Technophobe Babe is likely to get frustrated when she can't even pull up her frigging last made/received calls or phonebook with a simple button press. Maybe that Jitterbug Plus phone has more shortcut buttons added now, I don't know, didn't check it out.   Unclear if you're going to use Great Call service with it, but if so, another drawback is that you don't get option of your own area code, it's all 866 prefix. Even though it's a free call to dial, it's still a "long distance" prefix that has to be entered by anyone calling. Maybe not much of a big deal, although it is for the little old ladies around town that would call my mom on it if she really wanted to use it regularly for incoming.   - OS
  9.   Just like his accent, pretty good job, but fake.   - OS
  10. Unlike grass, you can eat and digest all types of clover.   - OS
  11. Just paste the browser link to vid, don't use link or image dialog.   - OS
  12.   I wouldn't trust a Mexican with an Italian name. :)     - OS
  13.   They play within Firefox browser tap for me with Windows XP, seems  QuickTime plugin has grabbed it currently, though I could tell it to use something else, like Windows Media Player (which is default), or GOM or something.   Just checked, and they aren't working in my IE though, not sure where to configure for file type right off.   Edit: was able to update Quicktime, and they play in IE in new tab now also.   - OS
  14.   Yes and no, but technically more incorrect than not, I'd opine.    It's not lawful for a state to require it, because they ruled a state can't require anything more than the federal form called for in the National Voter Registration Act. They didn't rule that requiring it would be unconstitutional period,  like if the Act were amended to require that.   Funny how states are allowed to make all kinds of additional restrictive firearms laws beyond the federal ones, though, isn't it?   - OS
  15. AFAIK, there's nothing in TCA weapons statutes regarding any different standard for a minor than an adult as far as knife possession. Dunno if some other section might address it, but never heard of such.   And btw, it's "4 inches or less".   - OS
  16. Guys finds lamp with genie in it, genie says he can have one wish.   Guy: I have to go to Hawaii on biz all the time and I'm terrified of flying. I want a bridge all the way over there so I can drive it.   Genie: C'mon man, that's quite a damn wish, can't you think of something a bit more reasonable?   Guy: Okay, well, I'd like to truly understand my wife.   Genie: How many lanes you want on that bridge?   - OS
  17.   C'mon, taint fair to leave a teaser like that unexplained.   - OS
  18.   While that's the de facto result, that's not really what the ruling was, which was simply that federal law preempts state law on the matter. Federal law could be changed to require proof of citizenship, and it's pretty certain they would uphold that if it came to them.   - OS
  19. What's the story on that?   Can't be Coke commercial, surely. For one thing nobody runs 2:45 second commercials, not even for Super Bowl.   - OS
  20.   We're not sending any troops beyond maybe some coverts around the borders for coordination.   Looks like a token effort to send some arms, but not in quantity or type to change the balance anyway. It's just BHO having to look like he made good on his line in the sand re chemical weapons and all. And not a particularly big hurry about doing it either.   - OS
  21. Yep, looks just like a golden retriever to me. :) - OS
  22. I see a lot of folks shoot 12 gauge through their handguns. Quite macho, I must say.  And seems 'bout every other person has an AR pistol too?   I narrowed down "defensive handguns" to only 9mm and .357/.38 good long while ago. Makes it simpler to allocate funds and get a stash.   And no, I don't consider .22LR as "defense", but I have some handguns in that also. And I do have an AR pistol, but certainly don't consider it a "handgun" like the ATF does.   - OS
  23.   Yeah, this guy sounds credible for the one on eBay/Amazon (which is called "1800 lumens" on Zon, "2000" on eBay):   "1.0 out of 5 stars Not Possible November 27, 2012 By Captainclean   The maximum brightness of an XML-T6 emitter is 1000 lumens rated by Cree and the nominal brightness is 800 Lumens so unless this is a magic light it is not possible to get 1800 Lumens out of an emitter that's max output is 1000! I've been selling flashlights for over 10 years and build my own and can say with confidence that this light puts out a max of 5 or 600 lumens max if you're lucky and have high amperage batteries. The zoom feature magnifies the light to make it seem brighter by condensing it but if you put it next to a real 1800 Lumen light with a SMO (mirrored reflector) it would amaze you what a real 1800 lumen light looks like."   As long as it holds up, probably be an "okay" enough light though. I do like AAA battery powered ones; I realize the limitations but they shore are handy.   - OS
  24.   Indeed he did. Mea culpa all over the place.
  25.     Don't mean to be a bummer, but $10.98 on the Zon, and reviews are far from stellar.   http://www.amazon.com/Ultrafire-Lumens-Zoomable-26650-Flashlight/dp/B0092Q1N7W/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1371409258&sr=8-4&keywords=UltraFire+CREE+XML-+T6     - OS
