Can't find anywhere that he is formally charged with manslaughter, only that it is a possible outcome, but don't know the procedure for that. Might actually take a plea deal to even do it at this point. Here's actual docket charge or whatever you call it: http://abcnews.go.com/US/page/charges-george-zimmerman-16123710 - OS

Can't believe no one has mentioned the recent CDC's firearms report, done under one of his presidential orders. I'm afraid the anti-gunners did not get the results they were expecting: http://www.caintv.com/obama-orders-cdc-gun-violence http://gunssavelives.net/blog/cdc-report-on-guns-ordered-by-obama-says-self-defense-is-common-gun-carriers-less-likely-to-be-harmed/ http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/56191 - OS

Corker-Hoeven: Schumer’s Wimp Brigade Rides to the Rescue
Oh Shoot replied to JG55's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I wouldn't call 10% of the electorate "inconsequential". Arguably depending on populations in various states, if 75% of that bloc had voted for Romney last year instead of BHO, King Nothing might well be peddling books and speaking on the rubber chicken circuit now. New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado, Florida, and Virginia come into mind first to me, without checking further stats. Also, that figure will of course rise every year. Also also, white population will be less than 50% of population in 20-30 years, depending on whose projection you favor. - OS -
75% or more of any .223 I've ever shot has been Russian steel. Wouldn't have shot nearly as much as I have if I couldn't get it. - OS

Lacquered Russian steel. I figger it may well be Brown Bear, the only other lacquered stuff I know of still, but dunno. Runs fine in all my ARs and minis, shot a lot of of back when it was plentiful, might have 100 rounds on hand right now. It comes in a brass version too, for more $. - OS

I think Academy might still have Monarch at the service counter, one box per day. Or per visit, if the clerk doesn't remember you or different clerk. - OS

Yep, a quick looksee seems to confirm a tough item to find. A few on eBay, most are auctions, though, and look like might go for about $45-50, didn't do a search on completed ones. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2047675.m570.l1313.TR3.TRC1.A0.Xmarlin+60+magazine+tube&_nkw=marlin+60+magazine+tube&_sacat=0&_from=R40 - OS

One thing this decision will do is of course simply add to the federal budget and of course likely require additional personnel to implement. Looks like all denied bennies will be due retroactively, plus with interest. I'm sure it will be many years before all those claims are sorted out. - OS

The Patriots sure dropped him like they were holding a live cobra. It was reported there's some kind of insurance policy from which they can collect around 80% of his contract. - OS

That was regarding the Prop 8 decision, btw, not the DOMA one, and Kennedy was the swing vote on nuking DOMA, allying with the 4 libs. Ironically, that dissent in the Prop 8 was in keeping with that, in that the states have the say regarding same sex marriage, which the feds must honor. Although now, since the feds must honor any state's same sex marriage stand for issuing benefits, the next suit to work its way up will be likely be on the basis of federal supremacy in the issue -- like, a legally married couple from one state moves to a state where their marriage is not honored. One way or the other, legal same sex marriage will be the universal law of the land at some point. - OS

Deleting cookies and starting over seems to often be a fix for many glitches like this. Trouble is, seems IE doesn't have option to delete only cookies from specific site, like Firefox does, so you may lose client side auto stuff from other places you frequent. - OS

Bout 4 years daily on my Beltman Bullhide 1.5". Best belt I've ever had, packing or not. http://www.thebeltman.net/bh112.htm Yes, it has taken a set. But, you know, it's set to me. :) - OS

That's another argument, and a non sequitur one at that in the matter of federal DOMA. The federal government has been "involved" with marriage since the first widow of the Revolution was compensated and to think it would, or even could, duck out is just fantasy. There are, according to the lawsuit, over 1,100 federal benefits to heterosexual spouses, and before this decision, none for state sanctioned homosexual spouses. This was what this suit was about. Remember, the lady who started this suit had to pay 363,000 clams in federal estate taxes when her spouse died. The state of NY recognized her marriage, but the feds did not. As she said, if her spouse had been named Theo instead of Thea, she wouldn't have owed a dime. The ruling was not issued on the base of anyone's "morals", but on the greater issue of "equality". And, the issue of the marriage itself is still left to the states so far, although I don't understand the ramifications of a resident couple from a state that doesn't recognize same sex marriages getting married in a different state that does. - OS

No longer 5R rifling either, and the lining is simply not mentioned now, so? It was one of the best production barrels in the industry, which is one thing that made it such a killer deal, and actually sort of a mystery how their high end barrel wound up on their cheapest rifle. Still a fine firearm, no doubt, but not the killer deal it was, IMO. - OS

Selling and shipping a pistol to California

NM, I drifted into different issue. -
Remember, if if you really get hooked on it, this old adage: "Golf is not a matter of life or death .... ... it's much more important than that." :) I'd pretty much given it up finally over the last 8 years or so, but was just thinking about walking on somewhere the other day, and then I injured my already problematic arm. Maybe it was divine intervention. I could never get below about an 8 even when I played all the time, just because of putting. Just don't have that magic, and it got me to where I didn't even enjoy that part of the game, which is sort of self-defeating to appreciate the whole crazy thang golf really is. - OS

We don't actually know what he has divulged, or even what he actually has with him on puter and hard drives, or how whatever it is may be encrypted, etc. And yes, there are public encryption schemes the NSA nor anyone else has been able to break, at least in the high bit iterations. He has stated that others have copies of info to be released if he is killed and it's possible that all the sensitive info actually resides there. In short, we just don't really know what he's released, if anything, what he may be willing to release, or what he may be umm, induced to release. As far as his dealing with our "enemies" so far, well, it's not like he has much choice as long as he wants to stay out of US hands. Of course, if (and probably when) he ceases to be an asset for propaganda or information, he'll just be another bargaining chip for a swap, like many in the past. I'm still rather on the fence about him myself, but clearly admire his stated mission, and just pure chutzpah if nothing else. Pretty much in same way I do the much creepier Assange. :) - OS

Well, I can see how it may have offended some of them in another way. Basically, "you schmucks are on the jury because you're so out of the loop you didn't even know anything about the case". I imagine we'll hear it mentioned again in the prosecution summation, too something like "the defense started this whole trial with a joke about how you the jury were selected, but I can assure you ladies and gentlemen, the fact that an unarmed young man with his whole life before him was murdered is far from a laughing matter..." or such. - OS
-
Yeah, around that. I put a set on one of my ARs for no real compelling reason, they work fine, got both for under $40. Many use the takedown one for pistol tube arrangements that don't use a castle nut/plate. But anyway, you don't have to use the set screw if you can't find one right off, will hold in there with plate like any other. Only real advantage with normal config is that spring can't shoot out of there if you want to take buffer tube off. Disadvantage is if screw ever rusts or strips and you can't get it out. - OS
-
Well, you can probably get set screw at Ace Hardware. I see the Aero says, "Rear takedown pin detent hole is threaded for a 4-40 set screw". Or just don't use it. Or you can forget the entire assembly and use a KNS takdown pin. :) - OS
