Saying it isn't really so. Most all the basic principles have been espoused in the distant past. It's seems more reasonable to say that Judaism, the first widespread religion, took the practical lessons from early interdependent group living and incorporated them into its concept of divinity, as the basic ideas of prohibitions against murder, robbery and the like, and the idea of personal property rights evolved in most all areas of the world, simply because it was the most practical way for larger groups of people to live together without total mayhem as small clans became early cities. Which all works until a crushing dictatorial ruling class evolves, which has also happened in most every part of the world at one time or another also, from circa 3500 BC to the present. Even the democratic golden periods in Republican Greece and Rome didn't last. And I daresay that our relatively brief little experiment won't either -- it might become revitalized at some point but not until it has been lost, and after much chaos, suffering, and population reduction. - OS

Nynick82, dude, his comment was because you quoted somebody, but added zero content. And you just did it again. Maybe you think quoting is "liking" or something? - OS

Don't let logic get in the way of government. There is zero chance of that happening. The federal government has been involved with marriage since the first Revolutionary Way widow was compensated. And states were involved with it before we were even a country. As were local governments before there were even states. - OS

Well, at it's heart, it's about money. One's pursuit of happiness is certainly not enhanced when you have to pay 300K to inherit your mate's estate because you're gay instead of straight -- that was after all the basis of the suit that overturned DOMA. And of course that's just one of a thousand federal perks gay couples didn't get, even in states that recognize their unions and give them state bennies. Of course, they still won't get them unless they are residents of about 13 states or so. - OS
-
The logical argument is that a gay man does not have the same right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness as you do, as the vast majority of gay folks can't get any of the perks you and yours can by virtue of a legally recognized marriage. - OS

Were they electronically done, like at a UPS store or wherever? Those usually work well. If on paper, not so good sometimes. At any rate, almost certainly a bad job of some sort they wouldn't accept. Your HCP application fee pays for them, so it shouldn't cost you anything to get them done again soon as you get procedure how to do it. Once you finally get your permit, I think you should get a 14K gold liner to keep it in, as much hassle as it has been so far. - OS

Places tend to use same picture from manufacturer forever, and sometimes it was a poorly lit, or even a production model that was never actually released. Have seen it a lot with knives. Matter of fact, ruger was showing one of their own pics on site of a Mini-14 with the old style barrel/sites on it until maybe a year ago -- I actually emailed them and they responded, said yeah, they needed to update it. Another company did similar, can't remember which one now. edit: wow, actually the bogus Ruger Mini14 pic is still on site there, in the tactical section: http://www.ruger.com/products/mini14TacticalRifle/models.html Just another example of why not all manufacturer's pix are accurate, and of course both of these under discussion are from Ruger, too. If I had to bet, I'd say that Ruger never put the LCR .357 out in anything but with the "black" (or "gray") cylinder, has been same all along whatever it is. - OS

I expect them to actually be somewhat better now than from around 2004-2011, or at least certainly no worse. The worst they put out were when they were still at the North Haven plant, had really slipped in fit and finish for several years even before Remington bought them. 'Course, they'll never be what they were before maybe 2003 or so again, unless they put out special editions for more money. But then again, what manufacturer does while keeping the price in the same general range over 10-20 years? I picked up a Marlin 60 about 6 months ago, it's a "hybrid". Has barrel marked North Haven, but REP as barrel proof. Some say they started doing that in late 2009 while still coming out of the North Haven plant, others say it's only since they moved everything to Ilion and Mayfield in 2011 and still had leftover barrels. Apparently the lever guns come out of Ilion and the various .22s out of Mayfield. At any rate, around 2009, the serial numbering scheme seems to have quit following their normal pattern, and I don't know any way to positively date them past that time. - OS

It's true! :) Seriously, the three or four times I've shot that thang I've done as well as with any other rifle with open iron sights, and likely a bit better than my ARs. Something about the blade and notch being pretty narrow, only one way to line them up, while my ARs with either A2 post sight or flip-ups have margin for slop to still have front post somewhere in the peep but not perfectly aligned. 'Course, the rifle has to shoot consistently true too, and Mike's really does seem to, near as I can tell with my limited ability. However, unlike OP's assessment, I think the AK's recoil is greater than the AR's. Then again, at least up to 150 yards or so, 7.62x39 may be a better round for battle purposes. :stir: - OS

Well, that review was in May of 2010 and gun hadn't been released yet. Wondering if that was a Ruger prototype pic or something. Another odd thing is that even the current pic of the .357 models on Ruger's site shows the cylinder as looking lighter than frame, although not as light as the one in your link, which looks like pure stainless. So wondering if the lighting on the pics is odd, or is the cylinder really lighter, was it ever non-black, or what? I actually have shot both the .38 and the .357, but damn if I remember what the .357 looked like. - OS

They'll listen to inside traders' tips on the market, that's for sure. Amazing how they all go to DC and become wizards at investing by no later than second term -- especially the senators. Whether on the market, on properties, futures, whatever, why t's almost like they have inside information that the rest of us don't. Even the reelection donations are largely graft, not to mention whatever actual in the hand personal graft goes on. - OS

That your PB account? If so, where'd ya cop the pic from? Maybe some explanation onsite there? - OS

FWIW, Ruger only shows the black cylinder for the .357 LCR, and none at all under distributor exclusives. - OS

On a 'puter, there's a smiley icon interface among all the others on top of post composing window, which shows about 15 of them, with a link to show all of them (and shows keyboard text for them also) - or you can link to others offsite like any any picture. - OS

I'd imagine that Rionda and Guy dreaded this whole thing and knew from the beginning they're only there due to politics. A thankless job, but gotta do what the boss says. I think O'Mara and West are mostly just concerned as to whether they'll actually get any real bucks out of the thing. Hell, West left his federal job to do it. - OS

Not to discount some nut or nuts going after Zim personally at some point (maybe he'll be like Jeremiah Johnson and have to off them one at a time for years), but I don't think anything but perhaps some local limited "rioting" down there is gonna occur if (and surely seems that's when) he's exonerated. - OS

Well, at least you can carry heat in Detroit and Memphis. Matter of fact, have seen where some folks have been accused of "perp trolling" in Motor City, ala Death Wish style. Perhaps will turn into our version of going on safari. :) - OS
