  1.   39-17-1310 specifically begins:   "It is an affirmative defense to prosecution under § 39-17-1309(a)-(d)...."   Unlike other minutiae in the weapons statutes,  I don't see how this one could be any plainer, and surely refutes your interpretation?   One could even argue that if you were picking up/dropping off and had a loaded heater on you without a permit, you'd not be culpable for 39-17-1309, only unlawful carry under 39-17-1307. Significant, since -1309 is a felony and -1307 a misdemeanor.   - OS
  2. Her "Jews should get out of Palestine" was the only rad thing I can remember her ever saying (and of course a large part of the the world would agree with that), and it's unfortunate that's what so many folks will remember.   I mainly remember her for being a thorn under every admin's saddle, Dem and GOP alike.   - OS
  3. Carrying a loaded firearm in TN is always intent to go armed, simple as that, and TN law makes little distinction between having it on your person or within your vehicle.   An unloaded firearm with ammunition readily accessible/in immediate vicinity is same as loaded.   A loaded weapon in locked container is still obviously a loaded weapon and there is no exception for simply having it in a locked container.   There is an exception for picking up and dropping off passengers on school property, you may posses the firearm in whatever way you could legally possess it anywhere else.   Also, the new parking lot law exception is another exception, if in your own car with permit, and gun is not visible by "common observation".   Either of the last two should cover having loaded gun on you with permit on school property, as long as you don't have to get out of the car with it.   - OS
  4.   Thanks.   But as I said, if handgun is possessed under the terms of the statute, 39-17-1359 doesn't come into play.   I admit the devil is in the details of conforming to the statue though, the three points of the AG being:   - can still be fired for it - has to be YOUR car - gun can't be observed in any manner (including the example of video surveillance, which I see as quite the stretch as "ordinary observation")   But no doubt the bill sucks, that's for sure.   Best thing it does, if you dot i's an cross t's, is take away possibility of felony for having one on school property.     - OS
  5.   The parking lot statute clearly mentions 39-17-1359 as being negated. Where is the AG opinion that says it isn't? Surely he can't be that stupid?   - OS
  6.   Prob is ya never know if you can trust an unfamiliar site's online store to be accurate real time inventory.  OP is ten days out already.   - OS
  7.   It's an aggregate, some of the individual polls show quite different.    Also note there seems to be a pretty obvious statistical bias, or outright glitch,  therein where presidents who hadn't taken office yet when the poll was conducted seem to rank higher overall in the aggregate than they should since so many of the polls couldn't have included them, so I'm not sure any before the 2010 one is very indicative of BHO.   But it's probably pretty representative of the older guys from a historical perspective.   - OS
  8.   Though we Tennesseans don't like to admit it, Andrew Johnson is always in the running too.   Wiki has a nifty rating, averages from about 20 sources. Click "aggregate" in last column to sort from fav to worst.   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Historical_rankings_of_Presidents_of_the_United_States   - OS
  9.   Hasn't in all the states where it's happened so far.   Guess they're waiting till they ban their last single shot .22s.   - OS
  10.   Weird there. Guy sold one something back in '06, now three high end knives in '13, only activity in all those years. Feedback received for the other two though, so I guess okie dokie.   - OS
  11.   No rhyme or reason to it seems. Most folks reported getting their permits or renewals in 5 weeks or less back last Aug when mine took over 4 months. Guess I wouldn't have had it yet if I hadn't called.   - OS
  12.   Yeah, wonder if he's on a prohibited data base now too? Perhaps more grist for Zim's lawsuit mill.   - OS
  13.   Just called the number on website to get app snail mailed to me. (615) 251-8590   The automatic one showed up about a month later, too, but had already sent the first one in. They were actually different type forms, one had carbons, one didn't best I remember.   At any rate I got the "received, carry this letter just in case" letter after submitting the early one, was surprised it took so long, didn't really think about it again till about 10 days before mine actually was about to expire.   - OS
  14.   Gotcha. I guess that's all well and good,  but it's really a drop shipping enterprise,  even though the "drop shipping" is to Frontier only. Which works okay, assuming the inventory is actually in stock at those participating distributors when ordered.   - OS
  15. My renewal for last August expiration date took over 4 months (I called and got app sent before I got the auto notice).  I was just about to have to start carrying the letter with my expired one.   Called, no real explanation, gal said would "look into it and get back to me". New permit appeared a few days later, one day before expiration.   'Course my original permit took 2 days short of the 90, and that was after emails and phone calls, too.   - OS
  16. I don't understand the relationship between the two.   Frontier Firearms IS gunmall.biz -- at least the domain name belongs to them, registered just short of a year ago:   http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools#whois|type=domain&&value=gunmall.biz   Not that they're trying to keep it secret as says "Thank you for visiting Frontier Firearms / GunMall.Biz !" on the website also.   - OS
  17.   Sociological comment, based on observable stridency of black legislators appearing on mainstream media.   Not PC, though, I admit.   - OS
  18.   I would indeed assume the cacophony coefficient is likely higher than in most assemblages.    - OS
  19.   ??   I actually went through TN Legislature, found that there seem to be 17 blacks:   Senate: 1 man, 2 women House: 8 men, 6 women   So, 17 out of 132.   - OS
  20.   Yeah, whole different ballgame regarding women.   Once I had to take the bus to Pittsburgh to pick up a truck, lady at the counter was a knockout, with eye-popping hooters, so the filter failed when I said, "A picket to Titsburg, please".   But the worst was when I was having breakfast with my wife, and I meant to say "Please pass the sugar, hon", but what came out was "YOU G****N BITCH YOU'VE RUINED MY F*****G LIFE!"   - OS
  21.   "Berrial", ouch. :)   I even lost my cred as "passer-by" or "walker" in one blub, says "officers found the body". :)   'Course, reporting being what it is -- I keep seeing "near intersection of Dale Avenue and "Cowen Rd" or "Cowen St." in the news blurbs. There's no "Cowen" road/street around there, or any street similar to that name; indeed there's not a Cowen anything in all of Knoxville that I can find.   Anyway, no updates. First stories called him "homeless", but since they still haven't identified the body, not real sure how certain that call is. After all, one officer there seems maybe to have assumed I was "homeless" myself!   It seemed to be an unlikely place for a feller to drop dead, homeless or not. Wide open field, no shelter. Don't see why he would have wandered 15-20 feet off the road if had had a heart attack or something while walking. His body was aligned facing away from the road toward the open part of the field that is bounded by railroad tracks some 150 yards away. There are several small hobo sleeping spots in the area, but they are all under viaducts, and no reason to cross that field to get to or from any of them.   Also, body position didn't indicate a fall to me, laying on side, arms in sort of sleeping position next to head, legs stretched out together also in position of repose. Also, he had no baggage, no pack, bag, whatever.   Probably grasping at amateur forensic straws, though.  Maybe just a load of lethal Sterno or something, staggered that far to lay down to pass out, or maybe he croaked naturally nearby and was carried and placed there, so the other bums wouldn't have to deal with the cops and they kept his few possessions, who knows.   I'd just sort of like to see a name and cause of death reported somewhere to tie up the story.   Incidentally, I see where a man was found shot to death yesterday less than a mile away from one of my normal trekking grounds, carrying groceries home from a Food City I sometimes frequent on foot. He was found in a city park trail in Western Heights. I have often carried groceries home from that store, going in the opposite direction, though, and often do same from Kroger using a greenway, although this is over on "my" side town 3.5 miles from there.   - OS
  22. This TN Black Caucus seems to be quite the underground group.   Can find only the name of the Chair (Larry Miller) and Executive Secretary (Tuwania Martin)   I suppose all our black legislators are in it, but can't even find a list of that?   - OS
  23.   Granny used to, and one of my exes, but I've never mastered pastries.   I went back over there today and grabbed another two or three quarts, gave some to a neighbor. I mainly just pour some cream over them and scarf.   - OS
  24. I've got the subbie 2000 in Beretta config. Had the black 92 first though. One thing leads to another, love all three. The Beretta 30 round mags are the bees' knees, fit the pistols of course also: - OS
  25. They were actually June bugs come to think of it, but are too small to fool with. - OS
