  1. Seems weird to me, dropping back to a double/single action hammer pistola, while claiming it's uber "intuitive". What's more "intuitive" than striker fired, with same trigger pull each time, no need for decocker? And no cocked and locked either. (edit: wrong, it can be cocked and locked). Seems sort of like a step backward to moi all in all though, but what do I know, probably sell like hotcakes. http://www.springfield-armory.com/xde-features - OS
  2. That should be a great comfort during your stay in Leavenworth. This supposed to be in "Tennessee Hearing Protection Act" thread? - OS
  3. You think that one more conflicting private response from one individual at BATF "defines" it, eh? That said, you can get SB-47 as simple add on underneath grip or adapt the rear to accept buffer tube, in which case you have the option of any one of them that fits on tube. Takes drilling/tapping to use pig tail adapter and/or folding one or US MachineGun also sells a grip adapter that will do same. I used USMG gizmos to do a Zastava M92. Adapter to buffer tube is rock solid, the folding adapter less so though, if you're going for folding, a couple of drill and bolt options are better. - OS
  4. Glitch with the NSA bot. - OS
  5. Yeah, saw that referenced on arfcom, a bit difficult to pick apart in with all the wiggle wording but does get rather specific about needing a "modifying" of the brace itself to count as part of "modifying" it to fire from the shoulder, and does say that shoulder firing alone is not the criterion, which is 180 from Mad Max's Open Letter. Sounds to me like at least a partial reversal if for no other reason to justify why there's been no enforcement of the dictates of the previous missive. - OS
  6. Bush did take that initiative, and it was blocked in March '09 in federal court. Carry in parks was enacted later in May '09, slipped in as part of the Credit Card Reform Act, which BHO signed into law. - OS
  7. I got same prob from main part of Store : Benefactor Subscriptions, but using drop down Store: Manage Purchases, it let me renew last subscription by adding it to cart, though I canceled it since mine is still active. - OS
  8. It's old technique for opening cans, maybe back to WWI or something. To keep mess down, rub top up against bottom of a horizontal concrete span. But really, any decent pocket knife makes it easy enough, and quick. I probably opened a hundred of them growing up with a Buck 110. - OS
  9. Same on my 9mm 320 full size. - OS
  10. Here tiz, right click, "View Image", left click with + to see full size (in Windows anyway). - OS
  11. I PM'd him to email it to me whatever exactly it is, to link offsite. - OS
  12. Oopsie. Indeed you typed TBI, mea culpa. But again, the question is that there seems to be a difference in getting the original charge cleared up with local paperwork on that end and getting a VAF number, and I just don't know that the VAF is some panacea for all TICS issues. For example, it surely won't prevent TICS denying you a transfer because of any alcohol or drug related charge within the last year, even though NICS doesn't care about that unless it were a felony. - OS
  13. Umm, "NICS" and "FBI" are synonymous in this situation, ya know. And again, I understand all that. But again, clearing up the original charge and getting a VAF number are not necessarily the same thing. You were able to get the paperwork done to show local disposition of the charge, which from then on would satisfy both NICS and TICS. - OS
  14. Not necessarily true, Dave. NICS will only hold up a transfer if the unresolved charge was clearly a disqualifying one. As we have seen, TICS will zap it whether it was a disqualifying one or not. So the question is in short, does TICS necessarily honor the federal VAF number once you receive one to put on 4473? - OS
  15. I don't see TICS mentioned at all in that, everything is about the federal NICS? - OS
  16. Real bottom line is that most folks only have a choice between 2-4 airlines for domestic travel, and often just one to realistically meet their schedule. It's a pretty exclusive industry, not one folks can really affect all that much by consumer choice. - OS
  17. You said -- " it's my understanding that the guy who designed the Kentucky p11 is the same guy who owns this company. " - OS
  18. Meant to ask, what was the Kentucky part of that? - OS
  19. That was George Kellgren, founder of Kel-Tec. I think the only connection is that some accused SKYY/SCCY founder Joe Roebuck of basically copying the design. Doesn't seem quite as blatantly as did Ruger with the 3AT/LCP though. - OS
  20. That story over a year old, linked on SCCY's site too, yet they still don't show it in their offerings. - OS
  21. Interesting factoid for anyone who doesn't know: Began and operated as SKYY for a while, changed to SCCY after the vodka company took exception.
  22. Good catch Dave, I didn't take time to look for amendments, my bad. specific wording is: "(1) It is an exception to the application of subsection (a) that a person is carrying or possessing a firearm, loaded firearm, or firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle or boat if the person: (A) Is not prohibited from possessing or receiving a firearm by 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or purchasing a firearm by § 39-17-1316; and (B) Is in lawful possession of the motor vehicle or boat. (2) (A) As used in this subsection (e): (i) "Boat" means any watercraft, other than a seaplane on the water, designed and used primarily for navigation or transportation on the water; (ii) "Motor vehicle" has the same meaning as defined in § 55-1-103. (B) This subsection (e) shall not apply to a motor vehicle or boat that is: (i) Owned or leased by a governmental or private entity that has adopted a written policy prohibiting firearms, loaded firearms, or firearm ammunition not required for employment within the motor vehicle or boat; and (ii) Provided by such entity to an employee for use during the course of employment." - OS
  23. Stash a small electric motor in it. - OS
  24. Looked it up, think this is the one, has been passed, waiting on Haslam's sig: http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/default.aspx?BillNumber=HB0688&GA=110 Simply added "motorized boat" to existing exception in 39-17-1307. So, that still leaves out folks in canoes and kayaks or whatever. - OS
  25. There isn't a specific exception for possession in boats like there is for vehicles in TCA. There are bills in this legislative session to allow such, perhaps that's what you've heard about recently. - OS
