  1.   Only applies to Air shipments as far as I can tell. Just needs the ORM-D label.   Natchez has a pretty succinct statement:   "Ammunition only requires hazardous shipping charges when shipped Air Service - there is no Hazardous Material Charge when shipping Ammunition Ground Service. If you choose to have an order for ammunition shipped by UPS Next Day Air , 2nd Day Air, or 3 Day Select, there will be a $37.50 Hazardous Materials Handling Fee.)"   - OS
  2.   Dunno if that's correct, Dol?   I have both UPS and FedEX accounts, and there's nothing in the shipment options available to me that cost more, just did theoretical 10 lb shipment using both. UPS Ground had no option for ORM-D. FedEx Groun Home Delivery did,  but the price was same with or without it (I think it might print the additional label is why it's there,  unlike UPS, but can't confirm without actually paying).   And btw, as most always, FedEx Ground was about 10% cheaper than UPS.   - OS
  3.   WalMart must feel same way even if there isn't a kickback involved. One TGOer lost his job reselling ammo he bought with employee discount.   - OS
  4.   Now has max shipping costs in some categories, unless you use actual calculated form:   http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/maximum_shipping.html#maximum   Otherwise, simple matter of caveat emptor -- if you can't add, best not to bid. :)   - OS
  5.   Yep. You can debate the overall impact of each party over the various aspects of The American Experiment, but one bottom line for the focus of this forum is simple:   Democrats = Anti-Gun Laws   - OS
  6.   It's unethical when there's collusion between the employees and customers.  It's called insider trading in the stock world, and is illegal.   - OS
  7.   Exactly. one unarmed guy could have sauntered in and checked it out, without the Gestapo tactics. Did they think the folks at the shelter were gonna put up armed resistance? Gimme a break.   I would have fired somebody for it, if for no other reason than spending all the time, manpower and money on it, not to mention unnecessarily endangering life with all the guns around, and the terrible PR.   - OS
  8.   Obviously no corroboration yet, FOX would jump on it quicker than cat on canary if there were.   - OS
  9.   I for one think you'll be feasting on crow.   - OS
  10. Second gun seems to be "handgun". Wonder what the first one was. Must not have been an "assault weapon" or would have been in headlines, I guess.   - OS
  11.   It's not a free market when there's inside collusion going on between the employees and their buddies, or with buyers giving them a kickback -- there have been enough reports of that to assume that it's widespread and not just tin foil hattery.  I think of it about the same way as insider trading, which is illegal (even though that's how many of our Congressmen get rich).   - OS
  12.   Correct. Neither it nor the Ruger Blackhawk use moon clips. Won't accept them even if you wanted to.   - OS
  13.   Never heard that before. :snore:   Oh, I see you're new here, welcome aboard.   - OS
  14.   Might work for yellow jackets, as they seem to have quite the sweet tooth. Ever notice that they're always the ones on empty soda bottles? The bottle recycling bin at the Kroger I go to generally has a lot of them in the summer, but seldom see any other species doing same.   Thing about yellow jackets though, is that there may be a bazillion more of them in a nest than in any wasp nest or even a sizable hornet's nest.   - OS
  15. Yep, always remember, he's said several times that he thinks Joisey gun laws are "about right".   - OS
  16.   Yep, and as someone else mentioned in another thread, in an ironic way thank gawd they were all consumed with the ACA, or we would have had punitive, slap dash anti-gun legislation during that time.   - OS
  17. The problem we have, as far as being firearm folks, is between a rock and a hard place. If you don't vote for GOP candidates that can win, then there's just that much more chance that a Dem will.   And at this point in American history, the first Congress where Dems have the majority in both houses, especially with a Dem prez, anti-gun legislation is a given. Probably even with a Republican prez, considering the ones that can actually get the nomination.   - OS
  18.   The specific problem for our special focus group here, though, is that as soon as the Dems get a majority in both Houses, maybe even with a Rep prez, there will be anti-gun legislation passed, you can take that to the bank.   - OS

    flip up sights

Yeah, I have Magpul polymer rear sights on all three AR rifles as backups, but also use it as primary on my AR pistol, about as "violent" a config there is, and it's been fine so far.   Also use both rear and front ones on .22lr upper, front one on a "fake" railed gas block, no real heat involved. The front polymer sight does use steel mil spec adjustable riser, btw.   Magpul is also now producing all steel sights, for more bucks of course.   http://store.magpul.com/category/44   - OS
  20. Don't see how it could. Like the Blackhawk the Charter headspaces on the shoulder of the round, doesn't accept moon clips, and the .380 is 4.5mm shorter, so hammer wouldn't touch primer. .380 would be pretty loose in chamber, might go off it you held it straight up or something, so that round slid back to hammer, dunno.     Love mine. 9mm sort of feels like .22mag through the thing. :)   - OS
  21.   I don't understand. Both stories are about how she is still the favorite, as we already knew.   - OS
  22.   True, thanks.   I never could decide which was the worst thing to get stung by, seems I've been stung or bit by the majority of insects we have in TN, and at least one arachnid (scorpion). I think them solid red wasps rank right near the top in both immediate and lasting pain. I remember the scorpion wasn't any worse than say a yellow jacket but it did seem like that just stung feeling lasted a long time after.  Never really had any significant reaction to any of them, though, but haven't been stung much by anything in the last decade, I know folks systems can change at any time.   Now, I never got popped by one of those big ole solitary Cicada Killers, but my then wife got tagged by one on the hand, and her arm swelled up alarmingly. We decided to seek help if it went past her elbow, but she recovered over the next couple days. Now, really, even though they certainly look like death on wings, those babies aren't supposed to be anything special venom or pain wise, and she said the sting didn't hurt all that much. But she sure had a scary reaction, and hadn't had one from being stung by anything before, which was not all that infrequent.   - OS
  23.   That's a distributor exclusive (Williams Shooter's Supplies) and not a bad price at all, since the blued convertible version is around $525 or so best price.   - OS
  24.   Just ammo. Plenty of AR's, and many will be pert close to pre Sandy Hook pricing.   AKs for some reason seem stalled at a higher price level.   - OS
  25.   Hitler an extreme example, I admit, but then surely one can be saved after a lifetime of bad deeds, like the two thieves crucified next to Jesus. Who's to say Adolf didn't repent in the bunker?   Of course many Christians believe Reverends Al and Jesse are doing the Christian God's work daily, no reason for atonement, so they present a special debate.   - OS
