This was mentioned on ABC Nightly News just now as an aside regarding FL having to reimburse some of his trial costs, so looks like they've bought into the story as real. Here, from ABC website too, from a few days ago. http://abcnews.go.com/US/george-zimmerman-visits-florida-gun-maker-kel-tec/story?id=20047743 Saved a family from SUV, and pulled over in Texas a week later. He's getting around, is he becoming the new Where's Waldo, or Spot Elvis? - OS

I keep them around for the occasional sleep aid. None of the euphoria of Quaaludes on me, though. - OS -
TN AG: Cities can ban firing weapons
Oh Shoot replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Knoxville takes it to heart, bans firing air rifles too. Also, no indoor shooting ranges in city limits either. - OS -

I was never allergic to anything until one day at about 35 I woke up one Labor Day morning with my eyes swelled shut. Ragweed. Until then never even a sniffle from it. - OS -
Yup, one would have to actually, you know, read the commentary. - OS

Sounds like snakes are safe then, good for them. ;) - OS

I've bought a good bit over time from them at gunshows. Only thing that didn't work out so well were some .38 and .357 cowboy loads. Couldn't hit crap with them from revolvers, but worked fine in my Marlin rifle. Finally decided powder was just too slow burning out of short barrel, acted like bottle rockets. -OS

Notice that the letter from Sig's site has the original headings missing. It was to the developer (Alex Bosco) only for his prototype at the time, before Sig ever got involved, and certainly not to Sig for their production product. Was made of a different material when he got the letter, perhaps much squishier than what Sig is using. I still think there's a chance ATF might jump on this, especially since I'm starting to see posts about folks saying they find it suitable as a stock. - OS

Gun-safety instructor has second accidental shooting

Second best part "hey, bring that other gun out here!" "It's unloaded, guys" "Put it down, put it down!" -
Did that many times as kid with both the big garden writing spiders and the orb weavers. The orb weavers really dig moths. Figured since they mostly deploy at night, figger maybe they have evolved to specialize in them. - OS

NATO Treaty is back up to full swing once again.
Oh Shoot replied to whitewolf001's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Yeah, much too overt a statement, even though that's actual long term covert intent. Will normal 5.56 and 7.62x39 ball ammo actually penetrate NATO helmets these days, or have they made them of some super duper alloy? - OS -

Not much, outdoor, only ranges I know of that aren't clubs. - John Sevier TWRA range in North Knoxville, 5.50 per 2 hours. Bench only, 100 yards max, highly supervised. http://www.state.tn.us/twra/region4/johnsevier.html - Norris Range, 20+ miles north, non supervised, 200 yards max. $20 per day each. (only $40 for whole year, which is the bargain). You have to go by Police Dept, pay plus key deposit if you're doing only day fee, range is about 4 miles away in middle of watershed, have to go back by and turn in key to get deposit back. PD open 24/7. Nice place to shoot but a lot of hassle for one time only. (865)-494-0880 Indoor: Coal Creek Armory in Knoxville Gunney's in Maryville Frontier Firearms in Kingston Sevierville Indoor Range in Sevierville (bonus of Bass Pro, Smokey Mountain Knife Works, and J. Floyd's on way, plus all the other tourist shops) (you can find those on web) Somebody else will chime in on any I've missed. - OS

Most legendary negligent discharge ever recorded. Paige later tried to sue various factions over privacy violation and stuff. Right. couple of info links out of the beau coup that exist: http://www.thegunzone.com/mos/dea-nd.html http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2011/10/daniel-zimmerman/dea-agent-lee-paige-still-wont-go-away/ - OS -
Couldn't tell you exact scientific name, but they are the common orb weaver critters we get here late summer into fall. Different from the whopper writing spiders which are also pretty common, and much bigger, but they don't take down their webs every day, and don't make the huge expanse of web the large orb weaver above does. - OS

Yep, no complaints. You might have to adjust the tension once in a while if you take it on and off a lot, but can do that with just fingers. Probably no quick detach model would be quite up to snuff for absolute best precision over time, but I don't chase that, so fine for moi. Seems to hold zero okay on both my 5.56 and .22lr uppers assuming you put it back in same slots. Provides nice clearance for fold down rear backup sights too. $100 mount for a $20 scope here (I did eventually replace scope with a Nikon, though): Another reason I couldn't believe mounts could cause that much random deviation, is that on another AR, I've run a cheapo $20 set of UTG QD mounts on my Sport, and they've been okay also: - OS

Happy for ya to hear that. I certainly knew scope mounts were important for uber precision and for repeatability over time, but man, to get that degree of inaccuracy you'd think they must have been actually wobbling around on there. I use the P.E.P.R. mounts myself on both a 5.56 and the .22LR upper, but use the quick release mount model, so can get to the irons in a hurry once the zombies come and my cheap scope fails. :) - OS

Well, I wouldn't say they define them, only list some you can't possess or carry without an exception or defense. And of course the same object can be a prohibited weapon or not a weapon at all. Like a baseball bat or machete. - OS

Have never found any definition of "weapon" in TCA, only "deadly weapon": ""Deadly weapon" means: - A firearm or anything manifestly designed, made or adapted for the purpose of inflicting death or serious bodily injury; or - Anything that in the manner of its use or intended use is capable of causing death or serious bodily injury;" Obviously, a wide variety of things can be used as a deadly weapon "in the manner of its use" (including the vehicle itself), but if LEO asks about "firearm" or "weapons" pretty clear I'd mention any firearms. If asked about "other weapons", I'd say no, myself. - OS

See post 12 for chamber adapter vs barrel collar. You are talking about the chamber adapter, which won't work with dedicated .22LR barrel that uses CMMG/Ceiner type conversion. This is pistol barrel, but shows the chamber clearly, same as rifle barrels. - OS
