  1.   That's really rich, but as blatant a satire as it is, I swear I believe a certain percentage of the left would read it and nod in serious agreement.   - OS
  2.   Yeah, that was the most lackadaisical draw I've ever seen.   - OS
  3.   Might want to bone up a bit on the "Right To Work" thang -- it really isn't contradictory to the rest of your viewpoint.   - OS
  4.   Lord knows it couldn't be much worse no matter what demographic they pull them from.   - OS
  5. I couldn't use "Oh S**t", and "Shoot" fits forum theme better anyway. :)   - OS
  6. Only your avatar and images to Trading Post ads can be directly uploaded to TGO.  All other forums must have images linked to offsite repositories.   If your question was actually how to display them in body of post rather than as a link, use the Image icon in editor bar and paste in image link.   Also, Feedback and Support is the proper forum for such questions. :)   - OS
  7.   That's usually the first clue.   - OS
  8.   Just a note, starlings are unprotected species in TN, shoot all you want. English sparrow and pigeons also.   - OS
  9.   I'll mull that over, but my initial thought is that it is a further example of semantics. Though I agree that private entities are largely not bound by the same proscriptions as the government, flying is a case of a captive audience. You may have choices of airlines, but not realistically much choice of the airport, and in this case if it were unconstitutional for the government to search you, seems it would be same for a private security force.   Than again, private "security" searches you to a certain extent just at sporting events and concerts. As I say, I'll mull that over.   - OS
  10. Most of the Winchester bulk .22 I've shot is overpriced at $14.   - OS
  11.   I suppose one could make the same argument about searches to board a plane. Wanting to fly somewhere is no more reasonable grounds for a stop/search than wanting to drive somewhere, eh?   Though you may have the ability to kill more folks on a plane, you can still kill multiple folks with your car, too, so the justifications are much the same.   - OS
  12.   Still not vertical, though. Horizontal ones are easier for access, but don't hide as well.   - OS
  13. Y'all can debate all the constitutionality of this you like, but implied consent by not taking the breath test is legal under TN law and as long as they get a warrant for it, so is mandatory blood check.   Sort of like debating the constitutionality of the HCP.   You don't have a right if you can't exercise it. Any argument otherwise is merely a semantic one.   - OS
  14.   Not in Texas. If openly carried unloaded long guns can be seen as disturbing the peace, so can openly carried unloaded handguns.   - OS
  15.   They're sold separately:   http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterP3.asp?ProductID=3882&CatalogID=453   You can get Galco stuff a good bit cheaper than from Galco itself, like most products.   SG has some other cheaper leather vertical options, most don't have weak side ammo carriers however:   http://www.sportsmansguide.com/net/search/eSearch.aspx?SearchTerms=leather%20shoulder%20holster&eMode=   - OS
  16.   Not vertical. The VHS model is, though.   http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterPT3.asp?ProductID=3327&CatalogID=2   - OS
  17. Erroneous title of thread. This pic is from Connecticut House of Representatives in 2009.   - OS
  18. I'm lost, what Ruger .22 revolver is so rare, the SP101 or what?   - OS
  19.   Tool steel is springy. S30V and other stainless isn't.  Carbon/tool steels can be differentially tempered too, to preserve non-brittle nature of the back while allowing harder edge.   In short,  "survival/hard use knife" is rather synonymous with a level of "abuse" that stainless, whether conventional or sintered like S30V, just can't match without snapping.   - OS
  20.   If say Knoxville wanted to charge someone for carrying in a park or discharging a firearm while in the act of a justified self defense, I see no reason why it couldn't -- but I imagine it would make for rather embarrassing press.   But if they charged someone for discharging a firearm during justified self defense within their home, it would become a national laughingstock.   - OS
  21. What are you talking about?   What has been "passed", since Congress is not even in session?   - OS
  22.   You could always be charged under the Knoxville city ordinances for firearm possession in a city recreational area and for discharging the firearm in city limits, regardless of other circumstances, since they were enacted pre-1986, and the fact that 39-17-1322 only gives you an out for state weapons laws under the 13x section, doesn't have anything to do with county or city ordinances. Don't see that the ruling under discussion changes anything here.   Seems to me AG is right though as to the letter of the law,  as 39-17-1314 does not mention actually discharging a firearm. Meaning would seem only the acts mentioned in 1314 can not be legislated locally after the cutoff date.   "...no city, county, or metropolitan government shall occupy any part of the field of regulation of the transfer, ownership, possession or transportation of firearms, ammunition or components of firearms or combinations thereof; provided, that this section shall be prospective only and shall not affect the validity of any ordinance or resolution lawfully enacted before April 8, 1986."   Which to me seems to leave the act of discharging a weapon in city or county limits still up to those entities, and any city or county could enact a brand new law banning such, if they don't already have one.   - OS
  23.   Second that. Even though they've gone up twice on price in last year or so (now $25) the drive over there is still worth it to me for hassle free transfers.   - OS
  24.   Only those enacted after 4/8/86.   Lots of city/county laws have been on the books for a lot longer than that.   That's why you can't carry in Knoxville parks, yet they don't have to post them either. You just have to "know" -- ignorance of the law no excuse and all.   - OS
  25.   From what I can gather, that's a huge oversimplification ... the so far "organized" opposition is about 5 groups, only one of which is US "sanctioned", the Syrian National Council. Two of them are indeed at least partially Al Qaeda supported. There are also lots of groups that seems to just be almost like large neighborhood gangs here, with no particular allegiance or funding from anybody.   More than one analyst I've heard has posited that this very fragmentation of opposition is significant reason Assad has been able to keep power so far.   Little doubt if Assad regime finally bites it, Saudi and Iranian money will compete to determine the successor. Which, by proxy will probably be US and Russian funds too.   - OS
