  1.   From reading regarding this over the years, seems they come and go regarding postings, depending on state.   Of course, Kwik got them to originally post in Nashville years ago. But their official policy is no firearms, or at least was -- I had a link to their corporate statement regarding firearm carry in their stores (which was NO), but I see it's no longer valid, so don't know if that's still available somewhere online or not, or whether they've changed it, which I doubt.   - OS
  2. Nope. Can't buy it.   Too much stumblebummery leading up to present situation, which is that Russia keeps her Syrian port, airfields, flight space, and no significant reduction in Assad's WMD's will likely actually occur over the long shambling series of events that will play out from here on. I doubt it's even logistically possible as long as the shooting continues.   Now the first (admitted anyway) US weapons are being supplied to God knows what "rebel" forces so whatever alliance it may appear that BHO and Putin have formed, it's all just for their respective national audiences, and the adversity will continue in the form of the various outside influences arming their favs.   Putin doesn't care if Assad has the chems or not, doesn't really even need them. If Putin wants the Assad regime toppled at some point, he'll topple it.   But no, in short, there's no way this was some hidden brilliant plan where BHO suppressed his ego for the overall good of peace and humanity.  Quite the opposite really, a desire to change the focus on other piles of crap he's had to tiptoe around for a year now; but instead of that happening, he's only deposited new and more visible piles of crap, and he's actually stepping in them. Because he couldn't find a clue smeared with clue musk during clue mating season in a field of horny clues.   - OS
  3.   Assuming the permit is still deemed necessary to carry at all (which I'm pretty sure it will be), it's concealed only. I'm not really sure that this ruling does anything except remove a conflict between the permit legality and a statute that technically still prevented it.   Here is IL state police policy and FAQ to date on it all:   http://www.isp.state.il.us/firearms/ccw/ccw-faq.cfm   - OS
  4.   Nope, they just sold out and couldn't get them, like everybody else.   They did remove specifically remove Bushmaster from their on line catalog for a while, though.   - OS
  5.   Napalm is quite "chemical" and kills in a number of horrific ways, one of which is asphyxiation similar to various gas warfare . But it's internationally approved and all like that.   - OS
  6.   The whole IL carry law makes ours look almost like constitutional carry. I expect much of the state will be relatively loose with it, but yeah you can bet Dead Fish will make it absolutely as much of a hell as possible in his turf.   - OS
  7.   It's not looking too rosy when the cheapest brick and mortar in America is selling 5.56 for over .50/round.   - OS
  8. Thanks, honestly didn't know these were still available. I would kinda like to have a retro one myself, ya know how it is when you only have three, plus a pistol. ;) :)   - OS
  9.   That's the part I mean. You can still buy an A2 upper new?   - OS
  10.   No it isn't. It's just a ploy, Putin gives a crap about "the right thing".   It's just a chess game to keep his port, air space, and landing fields there.   And the chess game has lots of moves, will be a long drawn out affair at best, and will likely never remove all the chem WMDs from circulation.   - OS
  11.   Where did you score the upper? Like, used?
  12.   Oh, the games have already begun on his end. Putin has already nixed first UN Security Council draft mentioning force if Assad doesn't meet whatever deadline proposed.   This will turn into an Irani type nuclear materials bait and switch on the chemical weapons stuff regarding letting UN in to find them and etc. And how you'd do that in the middle of a muddled civil war, depending on Assad's army to provide protection, is beyond me.   One analyst was talking today, saying that IF you actually had all the chemical weapons that Assad is projected to have corralled into one place, it would still take at least two years to safely incinerate them.   So I expect this will just turn into a long term back and forth, and if no more chemical attacks happen, will just assume back burner status, and eventually drop off the mainstream radar all together.   - OS
  13. Mike, forgot to ask, is that an actual legacy A2 upper or flat top with removable carry handle/sight? Can't quite tell from the pix.
  14.   And you floated them on eBay?   - OS
  15.   Well, can't deny that with a cash back only card, good point. But with my card, I turn the points into retail cards anyway (as cash back option is a lower return rate), so it doesn't much matter when I use them as they are gonna get used at some point regardless.   I get what you're saying about how it works, but you're getting it for goods and services you'd buy regardless, it really is "free money" -- to you as individual consumer. For example I haven't used anything but my plastic in supermarkets since they started taking it, and it doesn't make me spend any more on groceries than I would if using cash or check. Doesn't affect my restaurant frequenting habits either, which is actually quite rarely in the first place nowadays. - OS
  16. eBay probably best if you have a bunch worth $5 and up. It pretty much leveled playing field on collectibles. The good: for the most part reflects actual nation wide value. The bad: took away possibility of real steals on local level.   - OS
  17.   Still plenty of room in the IL carry statute for Chi to make carry itself practically impossible to do legally.   Their new "school safety corridors" or whatever they're called, take away legal packing in half the damn city for several hours a day as I understand it, for example.   But great on nixing the registration thing, for sure!   - OS
  18.   Need to use "full editor".
  19. I've used an ATT Universal Rewards card since about 1990. Has kickback awards as good or better than Discover cash back.   Generally just get a retail store card, used to buy geek stuff through Best Buy and etc, over last 6 or 7 years, bought lots of gunstuff/ammo through Walmart and Cabelas, etc.Or just general stuff I may need.  I put everything on it I can, which is most everything except utility bill and rent (really wish I could do those too). Heck, in the past, I'd sometimes buy stuff from Sam's, put it on eBay for what I paid, and often make more.   Amazon now takes the points on purchase by purchase basis too, don't have to wait till you hit the $500 increments, probably other places do too.   Anymore, I get maybe only about $300-400/year, but back when I had biz and spent a lot more, could be $1500 or better.   And as CZ9MM says, it's totally free money, silly not to take it, as long as you're only buying what you would anyway, and don't carry a balance over. Credit cards are great, as long as you don't actually use them for loans. :)   - OS
  20.   Well, they're really not any more more effective than a baseball bat without ammo.
  21.   Username just changed today (you can see in Name History in profile).   But it shows "edited by" the user name that started it, so in this case it's failed OPSEC. :)   - OS
  22.   They pulled all their ARs immediately after Sandy Hook, and screwed Troy Defense over a beau coup bucks dollar contract, not to mention all the customers who had pre-ordered them.   - OS
  23.   Dunno. Ever since CNN went to the dogs ratings wise, they seem to have really come back with a pretty much neutral overall bent, much as they started before the liberal slide downhill. And O'Mara now has semi rock star status.   I think they're letting MSNBC "Lean Forward" alone.   - OS
  24.   Yeps, it's all an immoral business, and laughable viewed over a longer context for anyone to call the US as the "good guys".   We armed and supported Shah Pahlavi, a dictator not any better than the ayatollahs that followed. Then armed Sadaam in Iraq to take on Iran. And incidentally, supplied some of the chemical WMD components that Sadaam used on the Kurds due to Reagan removing Iraq from the State Sponsors of Terrorism list.   If you throw in our overt and covert involvements all over the world in undeclared wars the US has been complicit in killing untold numbers of innocents, but of course the rallying cry here is always "It's For the Children". Right.   It's never really for "defense", but "American Interests". There is real justification for us being called "imperialists" by revolutionary groups around the world for 150 years. I suppose ultimately we can't be strict isolationists, but I give a lot of credence to the idea that we should be such as much as possible.   - OS
  25. Well, it's pretty simple.   Putin is simply brokering a deal to leave Assad regime in power, as he figures Assad can eventually quell things with whatever conventional weapons he has, and with whatever else Putin may send him.   Why? Preserves a Russian port in Mediterranean, airfields and consequent boots on ground access to the region.   If Russia wants Assad out, they'll take him out one way or the other.   - OS
