  1. Must be faceplate link not permanent one, Tank,  goes to story:   "Judge tells living man that he’s still legally dead"   - OS
  2.   Guess all of ours went there. :)
  3. Yep, that's a female. Males much smaller and drab. - OS
  4.   Just never seen any moths around to speak of when the orb weavers come out myself, and I lived in the boonies a long time.   We also have beau coup of the orb weavers right here in the urb where I live now, but haven't seen a moth of any kind since before they came out. Actually, the orbers have all disappered now, three middle weeks of Sept was their heyday around here, but we had them between every tree and most every breezeway.   - OS
  5.   Yep, one of the colloquialisms. Writing spider, black and yellow garden spider, etc...   Writing spider leaves web pretty much up all the time, the orb weavers eat most or all of it each morning and build it anew each evening.   - OS
  6.   I've never figured that, either. The garden spiders are around in July and August and get lots of good stuff, but the orb weavers don't show till 'bout first or second week of Sept when all the big good meals are pretty much gone.   - OS
  7. Actually, I believe that's the common orb weaver. On side of house, under gutter or something, maybe attached to nearby bush or tree too, right? See this recent thread: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/69520-which-spider-is-this-huge-one/?hl=spider Our "garden" spider (actually "writing spider") is bigger, more colorful, and not spiky like the pic threeeighty shows. Note the "writing" also: More orb weaver pics: - OS
  8. Actually, if you want to see a real one, Assurance Wireless, one of the providers and the one I get the most mail from, currently gives you a Kyrocera JAX S1300 or S1310, with 250 free minutes and 250 free texts per month, and you can kick in 5, 20, or 30 clams to get more. http://www.assurancewireless.com/public/Welcome.aspx - OS
  9.   A note (I'm sure you just weren't thinking): 1359 doesn't cover parks, they're under 39-17-1311, with harsher penalty.   - OS
  10.   Maybe some earlier edition of them, I dunno.   I've got current issue CMMG basic mags, they're tight and fine. But the Black Dogs are superior.   - OS
  11.   Call it what genre you like, but I strongly disagree and call it a classic horror flick, truly groundbreaking.   God rest him, Mr. Ebert agrees with me. :)   "Brian De Palma's "Carrie" is an absolutely spellbinding horror movie, with a shock at the end that's the best thing along those lines since the shark leaped aboard in "Jaws." It's also (and this is what makes it so good) an observant human portrait. This girl Carrie isn't another stereotyped product of the horror production line; she's a shy, pretty, and complicated high school senior who's a lot like kids we once knew.......   ....I wouldn't want to spoil the movie's climax for you by even hinting at what happens next. Just let me say that "Carrie" is a true horror story. Not a manufactured one, made up of spare parts from old Vincent Price classics, but a real one, in which the horror grows out of the characters themselves. The scariest horror stories -- the ones by M.R. James, Edgar Allan Poe, and Oliver Onions -- are like this. They develop their horrors out of the people they observe. That happens here, too. Does it ever."   http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/carrie-1976         - OS
  12.   Okay, I just remember some noise on here about a year ago or more about a whole new crew in charge there, had gotten much more favorable chatter than before, and thought it was said it had actually changed hands then.   I do think it's a good idea to change the name of the place, might convince some that were permanently alienated to give it another try.   - OS
  13.   Seemed to be almost exactly same story to me, actually watched it only a few months ago, again. Same gal with tele, prom, same crazy mother, etc.?   - OS
  14. double tap
  15. Already been one in '99. Wasn't bad, actually: And now this second one, simply called "Carrie" again. Great stunts, great find, thanks! ------------- edit: How weird, put pic links in from IMDB, showed after posting, then went away, replaced with letter codes. Added again from Google Image Search. edit2: second one just disappeared again, too. edit3: second one was from IMDB again, looks like they've found a way to zap linked images from them, but on a slight delay, weird. Put second image back in from another source. - OS
  16.   Far as I know, HCP checks only go through FBI on federal level, and the NICS part is functioning, so I doubt it.   Seems only the NFA/FFL licensing part of ATF is down, firearm wise. But I admit I don't know for an absolute fact.   - OS
  17. Power (mower) to the people!   http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013/10/09/one-man-militia-cleaning-up-national-mall-for-vets-with-park-service-furloughed/   - OS
  18.   Far as I know, had already changed hands some time ago, and this is second sale?   - OS
  19. Yeah, know for sure there were paper shells through the 60's, can't remember the first plastic one I ever saw.   Matter of fact, I shot some of them a few years ago, with umm, mixed success:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU-RLFUFRc0   They probably are worth something or other to collectors, but since you can't sell them on eBay, tough to find who/how much, though I suppose you could try GunBroker. Plus the fact you have to use FedEx or UPS to ship even a single shell.   - OS
  20. 200 people wound up being arrested, including 8 House Democrats:     http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/08/house-democrats-arrested-immigration_n_4066253.html   http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-250_162-57606606/house-democrats-arrested-during-immigration-protest/   - OS
  21.   I've used two of their blems, the flaws were extremely minor (in one case wasn't sure what it even was).   My factory new S&W looked worse than either of the PSAs after a couple months use. :)   - OS
  22.   Ah, gotcha, thanks. I believe some of the Kidd triggers for 10/22 have same now that I think of it.   - OS
  23. What is the extra stainless looking pin for? - OS
  24.   If you are going to separate public/private, I think the argument may make more sense, both constitutionally and legally, to argue that all public institutions should allow it, while private institutions have the rights as private businesses and property.   Also, the parking lot bill has even set a partial precedent for all schools.  I expect that should a state supported school  fire an employee or expel a student for it, it will be denied to do so in court -- seems a clear violation to penalize one for exactly adhering to state law while at the same time taking state funding.   - OS

    Ruger 77/357

Mine holds 9 .357 or 10 .38sp. Standard 18.5" barrel as shown on site:   http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/1894centerfire/1894C.asp and http://www.marlinfirearms.com/Firearms/1894centerfire/1894CSS.asp Maybe they used to make one or sometimes special editions with 16" barrel? What's yours Music? ------- edit: sorry for hijack, Pat. One thing can add about the 77/357 when I looked into them some time ago is that folks on RugerForum say the mag runs .38sp "okay". Something about best to not take it out and reinsert after feeding first round from it or some such was only glitch I saw mentioned.   - OS
