  1.   Since you ask, I would suggest you do a modicum of research before throwing up a rant using "facts" that are so obviously far from reality to be risible, and then never even returning to the thread to defend or concede those statements when called out.   One was so outrageous I saved link, where you claimed 2012 election fraud:   - because "no president in history ever won by 5 million votes" (of course quite a few have) and - that "Romney got no votes in North Carolina" (btw, he won the frigging state).   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/71129-those-people-are-really-starting-to-pizz-me-the-hell-off/#entry1045270     - OS
  2.   Except for whatever contracted freebies or co-pays, that's how a deductible works, ya know. Then you have to pay a % past that until max yearly out of pocket reached.   ACA plans vary for each state, no blanket summary overall, but here's best overview of each "metal" level plan I've seen yet, without going to a government site:   http://www.healthpocket.com/affordable-care-act/metal-plans#.UmGBcVNljfK     - OS
  3.   I remain unconvinced, since I can't find out anything about this Marshall fellow who some folks keep worrying about? ;)   - OS
  4.   Looks to me like you have to make somewhere around 40 grand a year with no dependents before you don't get a subsidy, so not sure that breaking the "common person" is all that accurate a criticism.   The actual quality and availability of health services aside, seems to me that the math of the whole thing simply can't work -- in the same way than taxing the rich and businesses at higher rate can balance the national budget.   - OS
  5.   Well, I guess blem lowers and uppers don't have much allure for you either. :)   - OS
  6.   If you want to accept one hearsay, fine, but it's inadmissible evidence to me.   - OS
  7. Old tired story. My rating: Here's a real story about ousted US Military Leaders, and is scary on two levels, one pretty obvious and one perhaps also political. http://articles.latimes.com/2008/jun/06/nation/na-airforce6 - OS
  8.   Called 'em Hoover Hogs during the depression. Folks ate 'em that could get 'em.   - OS
  9. Looks well worth it to me, only a bit more than 3 of them boring ole Glocks. :)   - OS
  10.   Credit card? If you look online at your account, you'll see it's been charged, even though order shows "pending".   - OS
  11.     UT can say whatever it wants, but I still wager they'd fail in court. First of all, the AG opinion they cite:    http://www.tn.gov/attorneygeneral/op/2013/op13-41.pdf   says nothing specific about employment at state agencies or state funded institutions, and certainly nothing about students at all. It mentions no distinction between private employers and state funded ones, and seems to be written from the point of view of private ones only.   So UT's and their supposed AG's opinion aside, I still think it's an instant winner for the first person who sues for being fired or expelled from any institution that accepts state funds. Finding a decent lawyer on contingency should be no prob, since one would have real damages in addition to any punitive ones.   Unlike the Employment at Will standing that much private employment has, state institutions (including UT) do not have it and rather have their own published policy for termination and reduction in force, they can not terminate "just because". You'll notice that we've seen no state offices to issue any such warnings regarding the "parking lot" bill to my knowledge, and I'd opine that the reason is that their own attorneys know it wouldn't be enforceable soon as departmental push comes to legal shove. I can't fathom the legal logic that would allow penalizing one for exactly following state law under state supported property or auspices.   This is not to suggest that anyone here become the test case, but someone surely eventually will.   Any of our actual attorneys see this, would welcome your opinions.   - OS
  12.   If you use it in justified shoot, you don't have a problem either, at least from prosecution under any of the weapons statutes. (39-17-1322).   Welcome to TGO!     - OS
  13.   If you put two in cart with "designated FFL" checked,  it shows $134 each.   - OS
  14.   The English dictionary?  :)   "Notwithstanding" means "in spite of" or "regardless of". Means those three mentioned statutes are superseded/overridden by 1313.   - OS
  15. Only thing you can count on is that by the time the Dems may manage to get the Triumvirate back, we'd settle for Manchin-Toomy bill in a heartbeat.   - OS
  16.   What's not clear? You can read it yourself, link in new thread below.   - OS
  17.   Wonder how many folks have bought the deal here, but won't admit it publicly like moi? :)   - OS
  18. No idea. Suggest you research the "High Point Drug Market Initiative" and report back with informed opinion so we can then decide whether to have you committed or not? ;)   - OS
  19. They've done their annual revision, so is now showing as 39-17-1313   http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ ----------------   39-17-1313.  Transporting and storing a firearm or firearm ammunition in permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle.   (a) Notwithstanding § 39-17-1309, § 39-17-1311, or § 39-17-1359, unless expressly prohibited by federal law, the holder of a valid handgun carry permit recognized in Tennessee may transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle, as defined in § 55-1-103, while on or utilizing any public or private parking area if:    (1) The permit holder's vehicle is parked in a location where it is permitted to be; and    (2) The firearm or ammunition being transported or stored in the vehicle:       (A) Is kept from ordinary observation if the permit holder is in the motor vehicle; or       ( B ) Is kept from ordinary observation and locked within the trunk, glove box, or interior of the person's privately owned motor vehicle or a container securely affixed to such vehicle if the permit holder is not in the vehicle. ( b ) No business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property shall be held liable in any civil action for damages, injuries or death resulting from or arising out of another's actions involving a firearm or ammunition transported or stored by the holder of a valid handgun carry permit in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle unless the business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property commits an offense involving the use of the stored firearm or ammunition or intentionally solicits or procures the conduct resulting in the damage, injury or death. Nor shall a business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property be responsible for the theft of a firearm or ammunition stored by the holder of a valid handgun carry permit in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle. ( c ) For purposes of this section:    (1) "Parking area" means any property provided by a business entity, public or private employer, or the owner, manager, or legal possessor of the property for the purpose of permitting its invitees, customers, clients or employees to park privately owned motor vehicles; and    (2) "Parking area" does not include the grounds or property of an owner-occupied, single-family detached residence, or a tenant-occupied single-family detached residence. ------------   - OS
  20. Dang, Mark, what was it for, stenois or something? Sent you PM if you don't want to say here.   Hope it works great, whatever it is!   - OS
  21. New "parking lot bill" of course allows anyone with HCP to have loaded firearm in vehicle on any school property, subject to the other provisions in the statute.   Note however, that it does not prevent school employees from being fired, or students from being expelled for it.   I suspect a lawsuit at some point will change that, at least for state supported institutions.   - OS
  22. Don't know the factoids on the "Silver Plan" but it would be much cheaper than what I was paying before I turned 65 according to that site. "Household income in 2014:261% of poverty level Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014:$7,606 Maximum % of income you have to pay for the non-tobacco premium, if eligible for a subsidy:8.37% Amount you pay for the premium: $2,512 per year (which equals 8.37% of your household income and covers 33% of the overall premium) You could receive a government tax credit subsidy of up to:$5,094 (which covers 67% of the overall premium)"   Whatever that 2500 clam "Silver Plan" actually is, bound to be better than that what I had, over $6K/year, with $5K deductible, no co-pays.   Pretty surprising that at 261% of poverty level though, I'd get 67% of it paid for!  I sense that bodes the real failure in how the math could possibly balance out, there ain't enough rich people in the US to steal this from!   - OS
  23.     Semi got it twisted a bit, the provision can be invoked only one time, if the debt limit had to be raised before the Feb. 7 deadline that this  legislation covers. I assure you both the budget and the debt limit are in play again early in '14.   This explains the confusion pretty well I think, calling it "a temporary method to make sure the can stays kicked until February 7th", and is likely intended as a feeble attempt to assuage the credit ranking agencies:   http://hotair.com/archives/2013/10/17/did-the-deal-allow-the-president-to-set-the-debt-limit-from-now-on/   I expect the tin foil websites will make much of it as usual though, ignoring the actual facts.     - OS
  24.   Maybe just shows that their heuristics aren't as good or too slow to respond as a company.   Quick search sees news about Norton finding (but not preventing) and failing to remove backdoor.rustock a and b from July of this year. And references to it as far back as 2008.   - OS
  25. Yep, the Senate got in $3 Billion or more of pet funding in about 10 line items in the last draft. Any number of House members didn't even know about them because, well, you know, they didn't have time to really read the damn thing before voting to save the country tonight.   Even John Weasel McCain called it "disgraceful", as if here were surprised. Guess he didn't read it either, since he voted for it. (as did Lamar and Bobby).   My fave is a little one, $171,000 to the widow of Frank Lautenberg. Since he was worth $56 Million, you'd think maybe she wouldn't be missing many meals or anything, eh?   http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/16/stopgap-spending-bill-approves-3-billion-price-tag/?page=2   http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/16/frank-lautenberg-widow_n_4112148.html   Even RacHell Maddow chimed in on the overall pork deals:   http://video.msnbc.msn.com/rachel-maddow/53301620/#53301620   Ironic these apparently wouldn't have even been in there without the House's histrionics over the last two weeks, so not only did the GOP come out with nada except taking huge hit in polls, but actually lost ground on the overall spending proposals from what they started with.   - OS
