  1. Your sub include On Demand for the channels you get? The Orville first episode is already there. edit: looked it up, Digital Starter package, which you say you have, includes On Demand, so you could watch pretty much all the popular TV shows on channels in that package any time. - OS
  2. Where did you "hear" that? Everybody gets the same background check, but no extra charge. - OS
  3. Well, didn't NRA/TFA and city both settle to drop it, agreeing case was now moot with the 1359 (metal detectors and whatnot), so I guess that's perhaps precedent that could derail any further suits? Or is the TFA one they filed alone still pending? Seems somebody could challenge the relevancy of the newest 39-17-1359 as relates to the parks statute (can't remember number off top of head). They actually do seem to be in conflict seems to me, but that angle hasn't been pursued? - OS
  4. It's 10 parts, 18 hours total. I guess it'll be on Comcast On Demand, probably other subscriber networks to watch when you want? Won't help if you're getting PBS directly over the airwaves though, have to watch it live or record. - OS
  5. Prob is if you're a Vermonter and need to travel though, very limited options. - OS
  6. Actually, it doesn't really "recognize" any permits at all per se. It's just that anyone not forbidden from ownership can carry, as you say, simple as that. Perhaps a "distinction without a difference", but that's why TN lists VT in the "non recognizing" column. - OS
  7. Just noticed, it's on Turner Classic Movies at 10pm eastern. - OS
  8. Catch "The King of Comedy" sometime. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0085794/ - OS
  9. Oh Shoot

    Glock Gen5.

Meh, they're good enough for relatively small usage I give em. Glock ain't my primary pistol "system" anyway. And like others here, don't really want to futch em up. - OS
  10. Oh Shoot

    Glock Gen5.

So, the biggest gripe I had about Glock, the finger grooves, is gone on these models. I never could find a gen 1 or 2 to pick up, but actually bit the bullet and got a 17 and 26 Gen 3 some good while ago from Trading Post here, just because they were such a deal. But I guess those will do me, finger grooves and all, can't see my buying any more of them just because they finally followed my advice. - OS
  11. There's near zero parking in the area already, plus they're banning parking on the side streets period for the duration of protest. Gonna let folks park on the closed part of 17th Street or something? (Actually, sounds like it's not going to be a big gathering anyway, so probably doesn't matter.) - OS
  12. Yep, thnx. Had forgotten about the new changes in 1359: "(g) (1) ... nothing in this section shall authorize an entity of local government or a permittee thereof to enact or enforce a prohibition or restriction on the possession of a handgun by a handgun carry permit holder on property owned or administered by the entity unless the following are provided at each public entrance to the property: (A) Metal detection devices; (B) At least one (1) law enforcement or private security officer who has been adequately trained to conduct inspections of persons entering the property by use of metal detection devices; and (C) That each person who enters the property through the public entrance when the property is open to the public and any bag, package, and other container carried by the person is inspected by a law enforcement or private security officer described in subdivision (g)(1)(B) or an authorized representative with the authority to deny entry to the property." - OS
  13. With the rigid state exemption statute currently, can't be any local ordinances that apply, and I certainly don't know of any state law that allows it either. (see later post -- forgot about the new metal detector clause in 1359). But it's pretty much like John and Mike said, who's gonna sue? Though TFA did get involved with the "guns in parks" thing in a general principle suit , that's a rarity, and of course it costs money. And besides perhaps a "you were bad" censure, there's not likely any payoff for a win, unless you can prove real damages. - OS
  14. Knoxville has done this off and on quite a bit over the years for "special public events", like street fairs, concerts, and whatever. Even knives would be confiscated. - OS
  15. Dunno if I ever will, but I'm certainly gonna wait a good while to let reports of post "upgrade" reliability and performance filter in. If trigger feel or primer detonation reliability should be affected, it would be an even worse scenario for SIG I'd think, and of course for the end user too. - OS
  16. I used Harvey for transfers for a couple years or so, was only 15 clams, then he decided he really didn't want that biz and jumped to 45 or more. I definitely am interested in a 1911 Glock though, he must have exclusive deal or something: I'm also really impressed that he speaks classic Latin! : (yes, I know it's template "filler" ) - OS
  17. Yes, posted lots, school property, and restricted employer lots still require a permit. - OS
  18. Nope, .45 in full/carry/compact only. Some sources have been saying for some time a .45 subbie will be forthcoming, but apparently nada yet. Also, as I get it, the .45 group stands alone, meaning guts and frames and slides/barrels don't work within all the 320 9/40/357 interchangeability options. - OS
  19. I do believe I've had to every time. - OS
  20. Looking where? http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/tncode/ You want 39-17-13xx section. 39-17-1307 specifically for your question. Note however that 39-17-1309, 39-17-1313, and 39-17-1359 also apply -- the exception in -1307 is for the offense in that statute only and doing same on school, posted, or employer property requires permit. - OS
  21. Note the first condition that must be met, in addition to merely showing the weapon: " Intentionally or knowingly commits an assault as defined in § 39-13-101 and "... - OS
  22. A bit more detailed as to the "who" from USIS: "Nonimmigrant An alien who seeks temporary entry to the United States for a specific purpose. The alien must have a permanent residence abroad (for most classes of admission) and qualify for the nonimmigrant classification sought. The nonimmigrant classifications include: foreign government officials, visitors for business and for pleasure, aliens in transit through the United States, treaty traders and investors, students, international representatives, temporary workers and trainees, representatives of foreign information media, exchange visitors, fiance(e)s of U.S. citizens, intracompany transferees, NATO officials, religious workers, and some others. Most nonimmigrants can be accompanied or joined by spouses and unmarried minor (or dependent) children." - OS
  23. From ATF site: "Who is a nonimmigrant alien? A nonimmigrant alien is an alien in the United States in a nonimmigrant classification as defined by section 101(a)(15) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(15). Generally, "nonimmigrant aliens" are tourists, students, business travelers, and temporary workers who enter the U.S. for fixed periods of time; they are lawfully admitted aliens who are not lawful permanent residents. [27 CFR 478.11]" - OS
  24. Senator Morris Sheppard, left, Chairman of the Senate Military Affairs Committee, Maj. Gen. George A. Lynch, U.S. Chief of Infantry, and Senator A.B. Chandler of Kentucky, inspect the M1941 semi-automatic rifle which competed to replace the M1 gas-operated rifle as the Army's standard shoulder weapon.
  25. Federal Auto Match is .058/round in hand today at my nearest Wally in the 325 packs, had maybe 20 of them, apparently no limit now either. Buncha 50 round CCI for 3 something, didn't note exact price or type. - OS
