  1. Note they are not quite the killer deal they used to be since they changed the barrel to standard 6R 1:9. - OS
  2. Have Volquartsen hammers in two of mine. Remarkable diff for 35 clams or so, easy install, called it good enough for my purposes. Understand why folks want to go farther on higher end tack drivers though.   - OS
  3.   It's not about when you decide to sell.  It's simply unlawful to be "engaged in the business of selling firearms without a license".   from 18 USC § 921 - Definitions:   "The term “engaged in the business” means—   as applied to a dealer in firearms, as defined in section 921 (a)(11)(A), a person who devotes time, attention, and labor to dealing in firearms as a regular course of trade or business with the principal objective of livelihood and profit through the repetitive purchase and resale of firearms, but such term shall not include a person who makes occasional sales, exchanges, or purchases of firearms for the enhancement of a personal collection or for a hobby, or who sells all or part of his personal collection of firearms"   "The term “with the principal objective of livelihood and profit” means that the intent underlying the sale or disposition of firearms is predominantly one of obtaining livelihood and pecuniary gain, as opposed to other intents, such as improving or liquidating a personal firearms collection."   So according to the law, perfectly legal to intend to sell a firearm you are buying or making, as long as the principal objective is not "livelihood and profit".   - OS
  4.   Not FN barrel apparently, but should be fine. Anything that they label a "PSA" build I trust for quality. Should be very pleased with it.   And yeah, more than likely, it'll be most if not all of the 15 days.   - OS
  5.   Depends on the holster I guess. Do you remove an IWB or OWB everytime you re-holster?   I have 100% faith in re-holstering mine in pocket or of course I wouldn't do it.   - OS
  6.   Yep, check them daily, they have blems every couple of weeks that are hard to beat anywhere for decent stuff.   - OS
  7.   Yeah, I heard a fairly detailed report on NPR, and seems there were more frivolity than seriousness from most of the justices regarding the inclusion of local individual criminal cases under treaty powers of the fed.   - OS
  8.   The people of the state did not run Cuch, there's no primary there. The nominating convention, with heavy Tea Party influence,  put up their big three, all of whom were outspoken anti gay and anti abortion.  Cuch lost, Jackson for Lt. Gov was destroyed (black conservative preacher, and even with high black voter turnout), Obershein for AG still being counted, too close to call.   Women and singles elected McAuliffe. Exit polling showing Cuch's deficit was 9%  from women overall, 43% of unmarried women, and 25% of unmarried men, and singles were 1/3 of all voters.   GOP and FOX claiming narrow loss was a "victory of Obamacare protest" or similar. What horse pucky. The guy who wants to expand ACA even more won. If there's a spin, that's it.   Those folks weren't wild about McAuliffe, they just couldn't stomach Cuch. The GOP shutdown was also perceived as more of a detriment than ACA debacle. IMO, along with Christie's big win, clearly signals a loss for uber conservatism as long as that includes staying 20th century on social issues.   - OS
  9.   Amen. Even Tea Party level conservatism is not really libertarianism, though it shares some principles,  but certainly mainstream Republicans are no closer to it than Dems.   The Republican Party official platform should just be junked. At least the Dems as a whole pretty much follow through on what theirs states, the majority GOP pays no attention to their stated principles at all in actual practice.   - OS
  10.   Would that have been Jerusalem Daylight Time, Golgotha Standard, or what? ;)   - OS
  11. Bout 43%, but same unknown, really .. did Perot really cost Bush Sr. the election in 92?   Nixon won by same 43% in '68, but pretty certain all the folks who voted for Wallace wouldn't have gone with Humphrey. This is perhaps the only clear cut third party candidate in my lifetime you could postulate which candidate he cost votes, and clearly didn't change outcome.   Bush Jr. got 47% in 2000, Gore got more but lost. Did Nader cost Gore the election? Intense analysis of electoral vote possibility suggests not.   etc.   - OS
  12.   Yep, you wanted "Member Title", but apparently under this software you have to have a certain number of posts. Previously, it was one of the perks of Benefactor status regardless of number of posts.   - OS
  13.   Dunno, could have taken about equal number from the disenchanted from both sides.   Look at final breakdown of the women's vote, I bet that'll be the bigger diff.   - OS   edit: just heard an analysis stating that there was exit polling showing protest voting for Sarvis on both sides, one big one in coal country against an issue that Cuch had leaned on as AG and some other one in N. VA that McA had pissed them off about, for example. So hard to say.   - OS
  14. General take, weren't wild for the Dem but disliked the Tea Partyish Republican more. They really didn't like the Republican raving preacher for Lt. Gov. Sarvis was indeed the difference, 6.7%. Or was he? Maybe took about an equal share from the disenchanted from both sides?   Christie by a landslide in Joisey.   Tea Party looking glum.   - OS
  15. Mcauliffe wins by a nose (projected by NBC/MSNBC).   - OS
  16.   The two biggest lib counties in the north still out. They always come in last, and always big time Dem. They were what pushed BHO over top there last time around.   Only question is how many turned out in those counties. My bet,  the wimmen there are gonna swing it for McAuliffe.   Dem already called as winner in the Lt. Gov race.   - OS
  17.   Generally, if they're still on the tree, they ain't quite perfect for eating plain. The ones that fall by themselves are the primo ones. Seriously.   - OS
  18.   There's really no effective substitute for insulin. 'Fraid best one could do is go severely low carb and hope the SHTF doesn't last longer than you do.   I'm not up on the other drugs in pill form some folks can use short of starting insulin, maybe they could help in a pinch?   (you start a new topic by entering a forum topic area, click on Start New Topic in black box at top right or bottom right in forum)   - OS
  19. At a lot of them growing up, folks made preserves from them too. Would find some every couple years maybe after that, but haven't had any in about 20 years now though...   They're great when you catch them at just the right mushy sweet peak, which always varies quite a bit depending on temps, amount of rain, whatever.   - OS
  20. Only gun I clean every time fired, and give occasional attention to between firing if it's been awhile is my Kahr PM9. And not because it's my carry gun, but because it's a micro semi, which runs at more critical tolerance parameters than a larger gun, wants to be clean and slick.   When I carried my XD subbie, I didn't worry about cleaning it every time between shooting sessions. Indeed, I don't necessarily clean my handguns till a couple hundred rounds, ARs maybe every 500 or more, and .22s every thousand or more. Maybe. Or longer.   Main reason I don't have a Mosin is I'd be obligated to clean the dang thing pert quick after every time I shot it. Seriously.   - OS
  21. Suggestion: just paste the pertinent parts, half the folks probably don't have anything on their devices and boxes set to read MS Word file.   - OS
  22.   There's is no "pro" for your 300yd small game purpose that I can think of ?   - OS
  23. Holy crap, with a static IP you could use your personal computer as a webhost. No matter how fast the download, they usually throttle the upload way back just to prevent that very thing. - OS
  24.   Well, she surely well espoused quite a few of the conservative points of view regarding ACA detriments in that one.   - OS
