  1. They'll probably keep the Voles from getting a bid to the Rotary Club Bowl or whatever it is they'd be eligible for if they could go 6-6.   - OS
  2.   Not verbatim, but pert close:   "Nationwide bear management experience has clearly shown that bears attracted to human food sources, or that are deliberately fed by humans, have a relatively short life. The survival rate of bears receiving food from people is likely a fraction of that of “wild” bears that do not have repeated contact with humans. The deliberate and accidental feeding of bears is socially irresponsible and causes animals to become conditioned and habituated to people. Bears that habituate to human presence eventually become a threat to human safety. The end result is that such bears are often killed by intolerant and/or fearful landowners or have to be destroyed by the TWRA. The fact that “garbage kills bears” is irrefutable."   http://www.tn.gov/twra/bearmain.html   - OS
  3.   All the bandwidth claims are just canards.   The problem is that there are hooks that have to query a bunch of different databases to confirm age, residence, income, state subsidy allowances, the insurance companies databases, gawd knows what all. These, like eBay when it first became unwieldy, are all cobbled and patched with a variety of programming languages and apps. Took eBay itself years to finally streamline things to run slickly, and the gummit is trying to do it with one fell swoop. Plus, it's the gummit.   I was reading one analyst who said that even all the folks who had signed up for Medicare or one of the actual ACA insurance participants through the "successful" few state exchanges, are only in actuality signed up provisionally, that the submitted data wasn't actually verified through any of the federal databases.   And even in the state exchanges, I believe it was Oregon's, had a single digit mistake that allowed thousands to qualify for Medicare or extremely low cost ACA coverage, when in fact they didn't qualify at all, and notification is being sent out via snail mail that they have to do it again.   In short, besides the basic fail of the economics of the law itself, this is simply too big a job of data correlation for the US Government to handle, especially since they've obviously selected subpar insider contractors to implement it.   And you can bet your ass that paper registration will be no solution. Can you imagine that nightmare, when you can't even get a NFA stamp in a year, and you're actually paying for it upfront?   - OS
  4.   Can't find any penalties mentioned in the pertinent statute:   https://www.google.com/search?q=tennessee+code+annotated+possession+of+Class+1+Wildlife&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a   Maybe there's a catchall one listed elsewhere in the TWRA sections, dunno.   - OS

    Tubekiller

So, has the actual Tube Dimmer app been hacked at some point, or is this what is "supposed" to do from the gitgo of its creation by the makers?   - OS
  6.   Yeah, heard a commentator mentioning how uncomfortable many in the audience obviously appeared, torn between being PC or hooting at it live on camera.   - OS
  7. I thought of this: - OS
  8.   Did you know you can deduct all sales tax from your federal taxable income if those help add up to more than the standard deduction?   You can even legally claim more than you actually paid by using the built-in calculator.   - OS
  9.   I imagine you'll still shop for the products you want at the lowest prices, sales tax, shipping included as far as online, and sales tax for brick and mortar. And I imagine Amazon will continue to often be the best choice.   - OS
  10.   So now you're fussing that Amazon hasn't  been collecting sales tax. Bezos can't win in this argument eh? :)   I did charge sales tax for non-exempt sales for a biz I used to run. I'm sure if my biz were worth the potential of hundreds of millions in revenue to the state I probably could have cut some kind of temporary deal too.   It's totally common practice in most all states to also defray or defer various other taxes to lure business in, primary the property taxes and TN is no diff. Just a fact in the biz world, and something any biz would be nuts not to consider before locating.   - OS
  11.   You people saying that are nuts.   Every place that sells on line that has a physical presence in TN has to charge sales tax. Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and CMT Tactical are places I've bought from that come immediately to mind.   The only reason Amazon hasn't till now was due to a delayed deal with the state to get more of their distribution centers here.   - OS
  12.   How would you feel if   - your Lipitor turned out to be sugar pills, or your Novolin only saline solution? - your Ruger and Smith and Wesson branded knock-off firearms blow your fingers off on the third round - your big screen fake Panasonic works for 5 minutes, just long enough to start a fire - your baby's Enfamil is actually E. coli laden goat milk from Tierra Del Fuego. - your TGO logo gets used to endorse anti-gun legislation. ;)   etc.   It ain't all about harmless fashion items, ya know. Think it through.   - OS
  13.   I say make them use the snakes that were indigenous to the regions depicted in the Bible. The ten or so worst make our North American ones look like wimps.   - OS
  14.   Solid deal. That's about what I paid pre election/Sandy Hook for my last PSA upper. If ammo would recover as well as the hardware has, we'd really be in the catbird seat again.   - OS
  15. I can't find any actual penalty for possessing them in TCA beyond the confiscation, so seems the Rev isn't facing any fines or jail time.   - OS
  16.   Challenged? Quite the contrary, the state made a deal with them to delay the sales tax levy in the first place.   - OS
  17. Wow, you evangelists are missing the point. I have made no comment on Christianity or the Bible whatsoever.   This is about two self-proclaimed "scholars" predicting all kinds of dire stuff based on their "interpretation" of the Biblical texts compared to the precisely known past and future alignments within our solar system, the actual science of which they each largely ignore. If you want to embrace these guys as modern day divinely enlightened prophets feel free, and double up on the tinfoil while you're at it. (I assume you already have one thin layer on to begin with, to give much credence to anything reported on WND in the first place).   And the one refutation I linked is purposely from a Christian scientist on staff on a Christian website, who of course is also not trying to undermine anyone's faith. (I realize his essay had lots of words in it and all, though).   I will plainly assert however,  that anyone, Christian or not,  who believes that the Earth, or our species, could even possibly be only 6,000 years old is wackier than Archbishop James Ussher, who "deduced from scripture" that unenlightened notion in the first place 350 years ago -- and if you home-school, I beg you to contract out the natural history and physical science parts of the curriculum.   - OS
  18. Oh Shoot

    I AM SORRY

A LOT of Dems didn't either. Hussein got 4 million less than in '08. Whole voter turnout of eligible was 3% less in '12 than in '08.   Romney got a million more than McCain in '08.   - OS
  19.   Not unless they don't have TV, smartphones, gasoline, and oh yeah...food.   - OS
  20.   Wow.  I'll leave you with a scientific rebuttal of the "Blood Moon Prophecy", prominently featured on a Christian site of all places, showing how relatively common these circumstance actually are. Sample:  "any lunar eclipse that happens near the equinoxes must fall on or within a day of Passover (spring) or Sukkot (autumn)."   http://www.answersingenesis.org/articles/2013/07/12/lunar-eclipses-cause-blood-moons   Of course, I suppose you can disagree that the immutable workings of the solar system aren't necessarily factual either, since you do not have the "science or understanding to test it" yourself. Severely limiting philosophy, since even the most astute individuals among us can personally verify but a fraction of all science.   - OS
  21.   Talking science more than religion. You really believe that our species is only 6,000 years old, for starters?   - OS
  22.     ??  "Member Since 11-October 13"
  23. Hey now, Adam5 sports a Voles avatar: - OS
  24. It is interesting ... that anyone would put any credence in it, I mean. Oh yeah, and that "Adam" was created 6,000 years ago as the clincher.   - OS
  25. Oh Shoot

    I AM SORRY

or as Gutfeld just put in on The Five, that apology is like cheating on your wife and then saying "I'm sorry you feel hurt by this" or "I'm sorry you parked your car where I rammed it".   - OS
