  1.   That was the door the son that attacked them was able to get back in and lock. Cop was focused on getting him at that point.
  2.   How much was it?
  3.   He was plenty bad and cracked enough for me before Michonne offed his zed daughter. Killing the Army guys alone was unforgivable IMO.   edit; Oh, and what's the significance of "Brian", doesn't ring any bells?   - OS
  4.   I can't risk the hernia carrying the damn ammo!   - OS
  5.   Gotcha.   Well, I think we tend to forget that 55gr and more traveling at 2400-3200 fps also have quite the temporary wound channel not to mention hydrostatic shock to tissue/organs quite a distance from the channel, so even just a "punched 22 caliber hole" at those speeds is pretty significant too.   - OS
  6.   Enya. Only Time.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wfYIMyS_dI   Rather makes me disrespect her for licensing that for a commercial, actually.   - OS
  7.   My understanding is that fragmentation is primary dependent on minimum velocity while tumbling is primary dependent on least possible stabilization for a given velocity, at least with FMJ. No?   If so, would seem that achieving both would take a quite narrow set of parameters, and then only within a fairly narrow range also?   - OS
  8.   I still have little hearts and flowers magnet on fridge from an ex, says "we've been through so much together, and most of it was your fault".   - OS
  9. There is of course what will "work" and what is closer to "optimum". I always think of the rule of thumb as per this simple diagram: Will any of the three twists put any of the bullets on a torso at 100 yards, or even a paper plate? Probably, except possibly for some that the faster twist will literally deform as Dole mentioned. But lots of ballistic testing has shown that 1:7 gives better accuracy for the heavier bullets and 1:9 for the lighter ones, and especially beyond 100 yards. And of course 1:8 a great compromise between the two. Again, just going for as close to optimum as possible. - OS
  10.     Or, those decisions were indecent, whichever. ;)   - OS
  11.   The citizenry voting for Prez wasn't in there either, and still isn't.   - OS
  12.   Not the best for >62 gr bullets if you expect to use them, on the other hand, is generally preferred for shooting <55gr varmint loads. The 1:8 stabilizes both ends of the spectrum adequately.   Main thing though was that the previous barrel on the Sport was really aces, not just the twist rate but the 5R design also. I have three ARs, two have generally well considered 1:7 FN barrels, but my (admittedly relatively unscientific) comparison is that my Sport is the most accurate of the three shooting 55 and 62gr.   The real mystery is how SW's perhaps best barrel wound up on their cheapest rifle in the first place.   - OS
  13.   Maybe they'd get it if you explain you hate the white part as much as the black part?   - OS
  14.     Correct. No longer the killer deal it was. The 5R 1:8 barrel is now standard 6R 1:9.   - OS
  15. For Zeds? 15 10/22s plus lotsa 25 round mags.  Spread 'em around.   - OS
  16.   Well, life insurance is death insurance, and always has been important if one has family.   - OS
  17.   And the "big strong man" was the clincher.   I shot exactly one round from a Smith .500 number of years ago, kept the casing as a souvenir :). Feller loaded for it, said it was an "average" load, not hottest nor mildest. Can't remember if it was ported or not now, but was impressed with fact that most of the recoil sent barrel up, rather than whole gun back into hand. I remember describing it as "violent" but not "painful". I felt guilty shooting his expensive ammo, only reason I declined shooting it again.   And though it did have more carts in it,  it only went off once. :)   The most painful handgun I've ever shot remains a Smith .357 Scandium frame. I declined a second shot, even though I had ammo for it.   - OS
  18.   Water. And a portable way to filter more. Numero uno on foot, especially if you're trying to avoid people.   - OS
  19. I just looked at vid, had forgotten what you saw as the prob.   If indeed all that you handled do that, I suppose that is indeed the way LCRs are designed then, and those folks who said otherwise just didn't actually duplicate the same procedure as in the vid?   I guess only thing that really matters is that the cylinder does indeed turn and index correctly when the trigger is pulled.   From behind the gun (your end of it) I suppose it rotates counter-clockwise to fire, like my SP101 and GP100? (Ruger single actions turn the opposite way).   - OS
  20. I would opine that on balance due to PCWOTP*, he's gotten more slack because he's (half) black than a white man would who displayed the same levels of arrogance, duplicity, favoritism, lawlessness, and incompetence.   *Politically Correct Walking On Tiptoe Phenomenon   - OS
  21. Nothing to add to thread, just that whole topic is a revelation to me. Would have called somebody nuts who said there was any revolver you could accidentally double tap.   - OS
  22. Kid had one at the range not too long ago, just bought it at Academy, .22LR model only. Couldn't hit much of anything with it at 6 paces. 6" barrel too.   I tried it, settled down with forearms on bench, steady as possible, sure enough, thing shot like 5 inches left and 3 inches low even with POI sight picture at that 18' or less with several different ammo brands. Once he did same, he got about same results too.   No adjustable sights of course, just the way it was. I told him to take it back, barrel had to pressed in wrong or barrel or frame or something had to be out of spec.   - OS
  23.   Again, I have no way of knowing. But it seems almost certain that the Croats would have been involved immediately in the fix, and of course would have had to incorporate it into the manufacturing. It's logical they would have produced the parts for the fix too.   - OS
  24. I can see West as long shot electable, but Cruz, no way. He'd kill any ticket as veep too.   - OS
  25.   Well, remember, the US part of handling the recall is not the same as the factory part in Croatia AFAIK. Could be the factory was able to tool up for the fix quicker than the US service department was able to catch up on already sold backlog. Could be all the unsold ones they could get back were just swapped at a certain point rather than fixed, too.   Of course, I don't know the facts or logistics, just musing.   - OS
