  1.   Fie! Perish the thought!   Admit is was ominous however that they didn't show the actual final pistol shot, only the sound. I was thinking, "don't shoot him in the head, let him be a zombie", but hmmm, why  did they not show the coup de grace?  But again, if he comes back, dunno if wheel chair necessary, I didn't see that spine was necessarily involved at all.   Beginning to remind me of the snake oil salesman in Little Big Man, who keeps getting carved up,losing parts, but keeps on ticking.   You'd think the producers would have enough feedback by now to let the damn character go, though, but who the frig knows?   - OS
  2.   I sincerely believe that that line will never really come before it all crashes and burns. It'll be the saddest outcome of all that folks will be shooting at their neighbors instead of the actual traitors that caused it.   - OS   edit: I guess a minor upside is that those aholes have neighbors, too.
  3.   Who would join to feed their kids.   - OS
  4.   Meaning, in every thread regarding firearm restrictions, including this one, there's always the "pushing us to far, blood will spill" sentiment expressed. Lots of that on the NY forums and NY folk posting on other ones both before and since SAFE.   And other threads in the political forum "has BHO gone too far", "Congress warned of citizen revolt", etc.   And no, I don't call hiding firearms or shipping them out of state as "insurrection" or "armed resistance". My comment was simply that when firearm restrictions are enacted, enough people obey for them to pretty effective in the long run. "They" will never "come and get them" en masse, will just be weeded out by attrition over time.   Significant correlation to urban vs suburban/rural populations also. Just wait till majority population in TN is contained in the 4 or 5 biggest urbs. Shelby County is already overwhelmingly "progressive", Nashville is getting there with 'Nooga not far behind. Florida and Virginia have turned the corner on the liberal slide, New Mexico and Texas will trend however the Chicanos want over time, and who would have thought some of our other western states, where rugged individualism and brave manifest destiny mentality have now joined the most restrictive Yankee ones.   We'll never see a true conservative return to constitutional ideals until The Big Pain, when it all crumbles fiscally, and (perhaps) have a chance to basically almost start from scratch again. But even then, a national warlord type regime seems about as likely to emerge as a new try at being the actual constitutional republic we still absurdly claim to be.   Oops, /rant off   - OS
  5.   There will never be widespread shooting revolt over firearm restrictions.   That will only happen when folks can't get American Idol, smartphone reception, gasoline, food stamps, and oh yeah, food itself. And then it will just be anarchy, not focused insurrection against the government.   The only "insurrection" over firearm laws will be folks hiding them away against "that day". While in a generation or two at most, most are willingly turned in by the "properly educated" grandkids when found in the attic.   - OS
  6. However, no citizen insurrection. Thus is will be wherever this is done, over time, if not in chomps, in nibbles. - OS
  7.     Pretty radical, guys. :) :)   - OS
  8. Yeah, well, whole new ball game now, no guv, no prison, and I was surely tired of both.       Well, it didn't go through his spine, just beside it.  But even so,  a severed spine alone isn't of course necessarily a fatal injury, just paralyzing, the degree of which depending largely on where it's severed.   - OS
  9. I was never able to make an "account" (simple username and password) through Oct. Finally was able to first week of Nov, and this is as far as I ever get. Shows my first name with the same error message ever since: And just an endless loop back to login screen if you try to do anything from there. About second week of Nov I used the online chat, actually got somebody in less than 5 minutes, advice was "website having some difficulties right now, try later or call." - OS
  10.   If you ever have feeding probs, squeeze feedlips on mag back in a bit tighter. The thin metal mags are cause of almost all probs you might run into, lips tend to open up over time.   My HP and Sub2000 seem to be about equally accurate, which is to say, quite good indeed out to 100 yards.   - OS
  11.   No, but I find it's the most convenient way to pick it up and carry short distances.   - OS
  12.   American Idol, smartphones, and welfare are going away?   - OS
  13.   Folks have been saying that since long before you were born, beginning seriously in 1934.   - OS
  14.   Yeah, but I've been a bit careful about carrying it with only one arm strap, don't think a single one will stand up to weight of 2 ARs and buncha mags and ammo and whatnot.   - OS
  15. Wow, an AR with 5 barrels! Can hardly wait to see this baby! - OS
  16.   A disproportionate amount seems to have found their way into that one area of GA.   - OS
  17.   Something basic wrong with you, feller. ;)   - OS
  18.   They don't get rich in DC off their salaries.   - OS
  19.     Yes, as BATF has ruled it's not a vertical grip.   Further, you can put a vertical one on a pistol that is 26" or more in legal overall length, whereupon it becomes a legal "firearm".   - OS
  20. I prefer the original ugly rather than the tactical ugly myself. Love it like ya do an ugly ole dawg: - OS
  21.   Now, but not always. Colt commercial rifles used to use 0.315 pivot and takedown pins, though their mil spec ones have always been .250.   Places like KNS Precision still offer their one piece push button pins in both specs, for example.   - OS
  22.   "Here, Lakeview's Axel vom Dawson, here boy!" Whew.   - OS
  23.   That's me, too, 124+p. When I first started carrying, local police were using Golden Sabers, uniformed ones in .40, plainclothes using a variety, including 9mm,  dunno if they still do.   But stocked up on a good bit at the time, reckon it's still plenty good enough. Don't really want to run a couple hundred different pricy ones through each of my main carry heaters to recheck reliability on a different brand.   - OS
  24. Good essay, thanks for heads up.   "If you like your private family, you can keep it.." "If you like your free market economy, you can keep it.." "If you like your moral heritage, you can keep it" "If you like your private land ownership you can keep it" "If you like your private life, you can keep it"   Etc.   Indeed.   - OS
  25.   The idea of defensive driving is to minimize your risk, not suit your "convenience", or even being "in the right".   My mother has had all kinds of fender benders through her whole life, almost entirely because "she had the right of way". Fortunately she doesn't get on the big roads at higher speeds. She doesn't seem to get the concept of avoiding collision regardless of whose fault it is.   Obviously, minimizing your risk includes not inciting other drivers to wrath, too.   - OS
