  1.   All YouTube stuff has been intermittent for me today, actually much of the web seems slower.   - OS
  2.   Never owned anything Chiappa. From what I read on forums seems to be majority positive opinions overall, but still a "second tier" manufacturer compared to the best mainstream brands.   - OS
  3.   Most comment that the low bore axis is really nice, very little muzzle rise for the power. What puts me off is it has more moving parts in it than a Swiss watch.   - OS
  4. Washed and dried in a sock works very well.   - OS
  5. I didn't mean to imply they are necessarily of poor quality. They make a pile of different type firearms, and the mighty Rhino, too.
  6.   Italian. Been around since the '50s. Dayton is US headquarters for distribution, service center, AFAIK none are made here?   - OS
  7.   Unless he croaks or something, he'll be there.   - OS
  8.   Half the ARs out there come with with biggest port possible within the (debatable) specs and are overgassed to some extent, as the manufacturers want to make sure they run period.   What, though,  is your solution for an oversized port, though, if not heavier buffer/spring, or often best, adjustable gas block? Weld it up smaller? What's the difference, you're making the aperture smaller before the gas tube either way. Buy a new barrel?   When you get one that is so overgassed that it's throwing empties out at 1:00 and overrides the mag to where it doesn't even pick up the next round, and you put an adjustable block on it so that it slings them at 4:00 and runs 100%, I'd call the thing fixed, myself.   - OS
  9.   A heavy H3 carbine buffer might compensate enough to tame it down into spec, but yeah, an adjustable block undoubtedly offers the most control.   And sure, a combination of rifle buffer and Russian ammo may have run just about right before on your rifle. Rifle buffer is a bit heavier than even H2 carbine buffer. I shoot a lot of Russian steel, and find it quite satisfactory, but none that I tested has ever hit 3000 fps, so it's underpowered compared to military spec 5.56 or hotter commercial .223.   - OS
  10. Assuming everything else is up to snuff, earlier than 3:00 ejection pattern does indeed suggest significant overgassing.  Dunno exactly regarding the casing dimples though.   So, confused about the adjustable gas block, are you using one or not?   edit: okay, see you answered that while I was typing.   - OS
  11. I have an Omni have run as a pistol for about six months or more.   The fit just wasn't quite right on lower (tried 3), have to smack punch or bullet to pop the takedown and pivot pins even after shooting and moving pins back and forth a lot. Maybe would have loosened up eventually, dunno.   That's minor, but , the channel for the rear takedown spring/detente was too narrow to put them in there. I used small drill bit to ream it out a tad until they would slide in (just worked it by hand), but after a while, small section of forward part of the channel broke out -- still works but you can see part of the spring in there from outside.   Just  replaced the lower with the CMT TGO one, gonna see if ATI will swap it after 1st of the year, probably see about selling the new one cheap if they will.   - OS
  12.   That's what guns folks were saying when CB was verbally telling people to cover their handguns or leave (I think that's still their policy?). I noticed CB has stayed in biz, though.   - OS

A front sight all the way to the right means you have made it shoot as far left as possible when sights are aligned.   A front sight would be moved to the left to change impact to the right when sights are aligned.   Rear sight is the opposite, change in direction you want impact to change.   - OS
  14.   Lamar will win going away as usual. I'll vote against him in primary, and for him in the general. No other choice unless y'all think a Dem replacement will be better.   - OS
  15.   Post suggests you think FMJ means no lead in the bullet?   - OS
  16.   That verse is logically a direct contradiction of itself.  But I'm thinking it might be more effective than my international sign as a thumper deterrent -- "pass me by, it's too late already".   - OS
  17. Sold for US $100,099.99. Maybe, I guess. Buyer has feedback of 3. Then again, George had 0.   http://www.ebay.com/itm/George-Zimmerman-original-painting-/111239922810?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=%252BWlSI8ILiAs%252F0JqQkc7z7khvADo%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc     - OS
  18. edit: never mind first post if you read it, was regarding the shot for hunting.   Was looking at Chickasaw, and sure enough, non toxic shot for small game too -- live and learn on my part.   - OS
  19.   Yeah, my mistake, got them mixed up.   Black comments were in the GQ article, not 2010 vid (added to my previous post).   - OS
  20.   edit: My bad, his comments on blacks were in GQ article, not previous bid.   Gist: All dem darkies wuz all just happy as clams and singin' Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah to the Lawd all day.   ================    "I never, with my eyes, saw the mistreatment of any black person," the 67-year-old reality star said in the mag's January issue about pre-Civil-Rights South. "Not once."   In fact, in his childhood experiences growing up in Vivian, La., Robertson suggested he could relate to the black struggles because he was "white trash."    "Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers," he explained. "I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash. We're going across the field … They're singing and happy."   In his recollection, the racism that reportedly occurred between the end of slavery in 1865 and the start of the Civil Rights Movement in the late 1940s just didn't appear to be in existence in the area where he grew up.   "I never heard one of them, one black person, say, 'I tell you what: These doggone white people' -- not a word!" he said. "Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues."     - OS
  21. Heck, I wasn't even shopping for one, not even sure which AR I'll put it on, but for 120 clams in hand, hard to resist.  Thanks guys.   - OS

    New LCR-X

Agree totally. Only firearm choice I've ever regretted is Ruger SP101 in DAO. Fine for the purpose and all, but really miss being able to fire it single action for more accuracy.   - OS
  23.   Maybe he was salvaging from a nuclear power plant!   - OS
  24.   Orthodox branch, like the Catholic,  includes the Apocrypha in their Bible -- includes two great stories of Daniel playing detective (Susanna and The Elders, and Bel and the Dragon). Always found some of the extra texts pretty interesting.   - OS
