TN nullification of Obamacare and all federal gun laws
Oh Shoot replied to Erik88's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Referring to Worriedman's post above, #94. - OS -
Yeah, TGO will swing the vote and all. ;) - OS

So c'mon, which gun store? - OS

Besides the non-existence of microstamping technology right now, it is also gun registration, which simply won't pass muster in most states. AND one more thing that nobody seems to have addressed: how would you handle replacement firing pins? Would require that the company keep some sort of individual duplicate die or whatever for every gun they sold, cross referenced by serial number. Firing pins would wind up costing more than the rest of the gun. - OS

Not as long as you also have a legal "useful purpose" for the stock. Same here with this adapter and an oil filter -- as long as there is a legal usage for a collection of parts, doesn't matter if there is also an illegal usage. (and that's from SCOTUS, not BATF). - OS

You'd prefer to be eaten by rich walkers? What a snob! ;) - OS

Been around a long time, lots of places sell 'em. No official ruling published by BATF, but they obviously aren't going after them at retail or end user level if "sold and used as a cleaning product". - OS

Supreme Court hears possible straw purchase case
Oh Shoot replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
It wasn't a gift. The uncle gave him the money for it, apparently upfront, which seems to be the real issue. It's listed as specific example on the 4473 itself as diff between legal and illegal: "ACTUALTRANSFEREE/BUYER EXAMPLES: Mr.Smith asks Mr. Jones to purchase a firearm for Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith gives Mr. Jones the money for the f irearm. Mr. Jones is NOT THE ACTUAL TRANS-FEREE/BUYER of the firearm and must answer “NO†to question 11.a. The licensee may not transfer the firearm to Mr. Jones. However, if Mr. Brown goes to buy a firearm with his own money to give to Mr. Black as a present, Mr. Brown is the actual transferee/buyer of the firearm and should answer “YES†to question 11.a." It's the only thing I can think that the charge is based on, as it would be perfectly legal for the guy to buy the handgun and then gift or sell it to his uncle, assuming the interstate transfer was handled by an FFL (which it must have been, as no charges apparently filed for that). - OS -
They will deny any claim for anything outside their TOS, period. Like a handgun sent from individuals by anything but overnight class. Lots of those "disappeared" when I was a FedEx Ground guy. - OS

In the case of Mini14, older is not better. - OS

Need CC permit, MN permit up this year.
Oh Shoot replied to 173rdABN's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
TN law requires that you have a TN permit after 6 months of residency to continue to carry lawfully. - OS -
That's about all I'd give for any pre 580 series Mini myself, assuming for some reason I wanted one that old at all. (if were a factory folding stock, would be different just because of that) - OS

UPS and FedEx will no longer ship between non-licensees period. Also, their TOS requires notification of firearm in shipment. The BATF FAQ has never been precisely correct though about one thing: federal law only requires notification when shipping between non-licensees (which is only legal intrastate or to yourself interstate). Point is though, assuming you obey carriers' Terms of Service and/or federal law, the only way you can ship a firearm to non-licensee is through USPS, and no handguns allowed. Also, depending on which clerk/stationmaster you get at some locations, YMMV even there. In short, this means that if you adhere to carrier TOS and federal law, there is now actually no way to ship a handgun between non-licensees intrastate or to yourself interstate at all, even though it is legal to do so. - OS

I've never ordered anything online that didn't show the shipping charge before I finalized the transaction? Matter of fact, I don't even think it's legal to not to show total before you consummate the transaction, as that is part of the "contract". Any number of places don't figure the shipping until the last step, though. - OS

Forgot about perhaps the lightest 3" knife in my archives, the Kabar Dozier, 1.5 ounces. I have the thumb hole one, takes great edge, rock solid back lockup. - OS

I remember it well, Jan. 21st, was living in boonies on the side of Clinch Mountain in a tiny propped up trailer with no underpinning while building a house. It seriously got our attention. - OS

Which means you can have one in pipe in vehicle or walk around with it loaded on your person, should circumstances dictate -- though I'd suggest discretion, like carrying something like this: in something like this: - OS
