  1.   Anyone who cares about UT wouldn't think so -- and I don't mean frigging football. Appropriations were slashed because all he did his first year as Prez was run around the country stumping for GOP stuff, pissed off the Dem legislature in Nashville, so they punished our flagship university. Of course Lamar made sure that none of his favored bureaucrats in the system felt it.   Hell, he didn't even live in Knoxville the first year, and the standing joke in the PR dept here was that they had to throw Honey off the moving truck in chains.   At any rate, he only used UT as springboard to get the hell up to DC, which he did ironically as Sec of Education, and left UT in tatters due to inattention and malfeasance.   - OS
  2. So the barrel sticks out of the end of whatever holsters y'all are using, eh? There is a solution for that. :)   - OS
  3. Ruger, and everyone else I've ever seen comment, says that a cylinder not fitted precisely to the individual revolver is quite a bad idea. Perhaps not as potentially catastrophically a bad idea with a .22 as with a larger caliber, I suppose.   As far as the transfer bar upgrade,  Ruger says they send you the original parts back in case you want to revert to them.   http://ruger.com/pdf/safetyOfferAd.pdf   - OS
  4.   Well Ron, at least that ain't perjury, since you ain't legally under oath. ;)   - OS
  5.   Specifically, the max penalty is 11/29 in jail and/or $2500 fine, Class A misdemeanor.   - OS
  6.   If you paid the taxes you'd be obeying the law, not incriminating yourself, eh?   Of course, your postings tend to incriminate you, and completely voluntarily. :)   - OS
  7.   See my above post. I do believe overall ammo pricing is such right now that the formula for buying most calibers as partial financial investment hedge may well finally have broken.   Then again, there are changes that could drastically still affect the market overnight -- like stopping all foreign import of ammo, surplus and/or new for example. Just stopping Russian made would really shake things up.   - OS
  8.   Actually, I only got to about 40K total before the panic hit. :)   I was probably averaging shooting 1200-1500 per month before the crunch -- between that and "survivalist" prudence, it's really not all that much seems to me.   But seriously, since my stashed bux have gone from earning 7% to less than 1% over the last decade, and I just ain't gonna risk the crazy stock market any more, it just made sense to start regularly throwing some into ammo, why not?   - OS
  9.   Maybe 5, to cover his listing fees. :)   - OS
  10.   I like 50K in stash and 5K as shooting stock. (which I no longer have)   Besides SHTF issues, and even besides the year long current shortage, ammo has always been one of the better choices for beating USD inflation rate over 5 years or less,  if you decide to sell it off.  And since folks can't reload it, .22 remains at the top of the list for value over time. And especially since interest rates on stashed money have crashed over last decade.   Wish I had at least quintupled my stock over the last few years, I'd still have my 55K round comfort zone,  plus lots of extra bucks, even just selling at current Wally pricing, let alone a bit more without getting into the ballpark of "gouger" levels.   - OS
  11.   How?   It's actually the embodiment of the 10th, ie, State of TN has decided to tax you, even though the fed hasn't.   - OS
  12.   Because of Gun Control Act of 1968, which was influenced significantly by assassination of JFK. It still hadn't passed after introduction, but after MLK and RFK were snuffed, it did.   - OS
  13. By federal law, handguns may only be received in state of the recipient, and of course it is illegal for residents of different states to engage in private transfer of any firearm, regardless of where it occurs.   So as others have already told you, the only legal way to do it is through an FFL in 'Bama, however you want to get it there.   - OS
  14. Has now run this thing for  the 4th time, still $450 or Best Offer.   - OS
  15.   Very restrictive "may issue" state anyway, very few have carry permits in the first place.   SCOTUS declined to rule on suit over their "a good and substantial reason" clause to issue a permit. The previous court had ruled that "the Second Amendment has no practical impact beyond the threshold of one's home" and SCOTUS let that stand.   - OS
  16. Another guy took Biden's advice and got himself a shotgun.   - OS
  17.   The opposite really.  He was directly responsible for unprecedented funding cuts from the legislature. UT has never recovered the academic standing it had before his sojourn here.   - OS
  18. If ya knew exactly when EOTWAWKI was gonna hit, a hundred each C9s and 995s would likely be a wise investment.   - OS
  19.   Well, their current carry situation is like ours, permit needed to open or concealed carry. That's a poorly written article, but the bill simply proposes constitutional carry for both, like AZ, VT, AK, and WY.   - OS
  20. Only 90 gr too. Then again, it's not lead, so...   - OS
  21.   It has in fact litigated various firearm liberty issues.  NRA is supporting ACLU right now regarding NSA stuff, btw.   - OS
  22. Most are junk, but a few are quality, or what?   - OS
  23.   Interestingly (or not), he wrote "Don't come to los angeles", rather than "don't go to LA"   And we're not the only place where he dumped this.   https://www.google.com/search?q=The+US+Government+and+Police+departments+of+this+country+are+now+installing+devices+into+your+body+to+create+severe+pain.++They+are+installing+devices+into+your+head%2Cmouth%2Cshoulder%2Cpenis%2Cvagina%2C+once+these+devices+are+installed+you+automatically+black+out+at+night%2C+they+then+proceed+to+enter+your+home%2C+and+install+more+of+this+crap+into+your+body.&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#newwindow=1&q=The+US+Government+and+Police+departments+of+this+country+are+now+installing+devices+into+your+body+to+create+severe+pain.++They+are+installing+devices+into+your+head%2Cmouth%2Cshoulder%2Cpenis%2Cvagina%2C+once+these+devices+are+installed+&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official   - OS
  24. To be clear, I didn't thunk it up or make it, ran into it on another forum. Glad many here hadn't seen it before either, something fresh. Found another version too. - OS
