  1. It's actually a Wookie, a few didn't get contained in Area 51 back in the day after the crash. - OS
  2.   What's TNP?
  3. How exactly does that work with a NEOS? Found some pix, but don't understand how the barrel gets exposed to do it -- seems it would take cutting down the attached rail, but here's one that seems rail is the same on both? - OS
  4.   Do you? I only know you're required to show HCP on request.   - OS
  5.   I can find no penalty, meaning fine or jail time, for not having a business license as per state or country law in TN. All counties and cities "say" you need a business license, but again, no blanket penalties if you don't. And I don't mean doctors, lawyers, and any number of professions that require a separate license to operate legally in TN.   The only thing cities and counties can "get" you on is if you have business property, which includes "personal business property" (equipment), not just real estate. Basically any tangible possession that you would deduct in toto or depreciate on federal return in relation to your biz. You would owe "personal property taxes" on that, and if you ducked them and were "caught", you'd owe the back taxes (very low rate) plus whatever penalties.   About zero chance of it happening with a small sole proprietorship, though, though of course if you have a visible profile of any size at all, your exposure goes up.   Used to be, you had to pay sales tax to state, county, and/or city, and so you had three places that could come after you if push came to shove, but for a good long while now, it's just payment to state only for the whole bundle and they distribute the shares back to the locals.   At any rate, there are thousands of small entrepreneurs across the state operating without a biz license, whether they're cutting your trees, cleaning your house, working on your car, or selling you .22LR, and they simply aren't going to be hassled any more than you are for importing your goods into the state tax free via internet purchases,  unless the State of TN adds as many full time tax investigators as violators. :)   - OS
  6.   Would still take constant vigilance around whole island, as zeds simply walk out of the water from time to time. Just takes a single surprise to end your experiment, like anywhere else.   - OS
  7.   To my knowledge, there's no actual penalty involved for running a business without a license, except for the few professions that specifically require one.   Of course, everyone owes federal income taxes on earned income regardless of how they make it and state sales tax on most items for resale. In the case of a small time ammo reseller though, actually proving either is highly unlikely -- would take an ongoing investigation that would cost beau coup times more than any tax money recovered.   Just "ratting out" even the most prolific of Wally World resellers is certainly not going to get them charged by state or feds.   You realize that almost certainly a larger part of the country's economy is now an underground one than anytime since the Depression, right? Likely 15-20 % of the previous workforce in the country is making a living off the books one way or the other. Mostly in a legal manner, really, except of course for the various tax issues.   - OS
  8. Just love the aesthetics of these babies, though I admit I haven't learned to shoot them as well as my XDs for some reason. Speaking of "aesthetics", there's this, too :): I actually own two of them, picked up the second one used to make the carbine kit, but about a year ago it assumed unicorn status for some reason: - OS
  9.   A unique occurrence, to be sure.   - OS
  10.   Well, then, something's out of whack with the three bolt lock parts or bcg/upper, can't imagine it's that lower.   - does it work if locked back with no mag inserted? if yes:   - does it work if locked back with empty mag, or just not work with loaded one?   and   - is problem consistent with different brand/type mags (ie, magpul vs metal ones)?   If you can narrow it down with those questions, I'd bet Dol or somebody will pinpoint solution.   - OS
  11. But the only one that will be remembered will be Michael Grimm's: - OS
  12. Even though he already perpetrated a previous Big Foot scam, his other credentials have convinced me he's telling the truth. :) - OS
  13. Already have Italian and MD made 92's and a NEOS, so guess I'll stop there, even though would love to have any firearm in my collection that was made here.   Well, actually, I have the TGO CMT AR lower, so guess I do have one, technically. :)   - OS
  14.   Oh, no doubt it's cranking up, beau coup reliable sources -- here's one at random,   http://www.fresnobee.com/2013/11/16/3613913/state-agents-sweep-fresno.html   NRA, NRA-ILA started mentioning it some back in the summer, but they've seemed reluctant to jump in full bore, and perhaps because they know it's legal as per federal law.   Here's one of the NRA vids on it:   http://www.ammoland.com/2013/08/nra-news-video-exposes-cal-dojs-gun-confiscation-program-for-what-it-truly-is/#axzz2rpxeNTnN   I linked it from there because vid is featured, but it and maybe one more regarding it are on NRA main news site somewhere here:   http://www.nranews.com/ginny   - OS
  15.   It seems to be almost entirely people who have become ineligible after they first legally acquired the firearms.   - OS
  16. The only batch of this stuff I was ever able to buy, a 1000 double pack, about 1.5 years ago also had probs, but it was randomly underloaded with high percentage of duds. Never did get around to seeing about replacement before the panic though.   I wonder if Winchester will really be able to replace this with any efficiency, or will just issue refunds or vouchers? And looking at the form, will they do it without copy of receipt?   - OS
  17.   Well, the constitutional justification is that this is merely enforcing existing federal law regarding who can legally own a firearm, as per the Gun Control Act of 1968.   - OS
  18.   I had one do that on an Omni polymer lower, just couldn't release bolt with the catch itself with loaded mag (Magpul or aluminum GI mags) short of tapping it with a hammer or something. Worked fine on empty mag, or releasing with charging handle with full mag. Figgered the actual dimensions of the lower itself were just a bit out of spec somewhere around the catch.   Know it wasn't the bolt catch parts because I took them out and used same ones in the TGO billet lower (sans roll pin), and used same unchanged upper, all good.   Probably not your situation, but thought I'd mention to cloud the issue. :)   - OS
  19.   Guess you've ruled out physical probs with MB controllers and whatnot? Seems quite long odds that two drives go out around same time.   That external drive USB or fireware or what?  Guess you tried hooking it up to another puter?   - OS
  20. I've lost track of threads, where's the text of this bill?   Does it do anything about negating 39-17-1314 (grandfathered local laws)?    - OS   edit: never mind, found it, and it does indeed nuke 1314
  21.   Scarily, I think BHO is a naive idiot compared to Hildebeest.   - OS
  22. I agree with Krauthhammer, "pretty harmless". I think he bet about all he could holding a weak hand.   - OS
  23.   At which point BHO may well be seen as the lesser of two evils.   - OS
  24.   Main diff is that Nutin does lots of reviews on other than firearms, particularly knives, so if you're a blade freak that's a big plus.   - OS
  25.   I dunno about that. Not much applause thus far on points.   The "climate change is a fact" rave drew especially stony stare only.   - OS
