I saw a box of .38 Super at a Wally yesterday, first one I've ever noticed at any of them. - OS

Sure. Plus you can make a 10/22 into anything you want down the road if you choose, no other rifle cept an AR has such a market of options. - OS

No, the Hogue has significantly different lines all over. Great stock though. I actually don't much like the rather drastically convex curve of the Ruger stock's butt: - OS

Yep, http://www.nbcnews.com/id/16614865/ns/us_news-life/t/woman-dies-after-water-drinking-contest/#.UvWMos7U0s8 About water intoxication: Some specifics from NIH: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1770067/ And overview from Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication - OS

I don't think so, they just crap out when they want do. :) Don't know if there's more than anecdotal evidence on it so far, haven't kept up with it, but seems it's widespread enough to believe. - OS

Well, actually, the WinClean and other "green" varieties without heavy metals in the primers apparently really do "expire". - OS

So whatcha got for sale? Hmmm? :) - OS

Just for the record, I bought Tula .223 at the Maryville Wally yesterday for 5.37 (including the .10 ammo tax). Plus sales tax of course, which I assume was added to the Academy price also. Could only get 3 boxes though. I did buy a thousand rounds of Monarch .223 from an Academy, in boxes of 20 ea., back around xmas, though, for cheaper than than any bulk deal I could find on line. - OS

Yep. The only other possible state offense for mere permit carry is Class B with fine only, equally stupid, but less severe. The Class A for park carry is ridiculous, especially since there is such a jumble of parks across the state, some allowing carry, some not, some poorly posted that forbid it, some that don't even require posting due to grandfathered ordinances, etc. Hell, there are greenways here in Knoxville that go in and out of carry and non-carry areas traveling the same frigging direction, and none of them even marked at all for example! Though "ignorance of the law being no excuse" being often cited, it's not like there is one simple law to be ignorant of and it's positively unjust on the face of it. - OS

Off top of head: First of all, there are some synthetic stocks that aren't worth using if they were free, but I don't know of any wood ones that are. Wood stocks: Neg: moisture absorbing (mostly overstated, but certainly true to an extent), easy to ding up. Pos: nice traditional look, even dinged up still exude "character", can be beautifully refinished, most are about same weight as sturdy synthetic ones, not tacti-scary like some of the synthetics, perhaps easier bedded? Synthetics: Neg: can look scary, narrower range of stuff that will adhere for bedding, some may rattle, some don't offer a cheek weld worth a hoot or at all. Pos: again really depends on which one, but more durable for the most part, some may be lighter than their wood counterparts (especially than the hardwood laminated ones), widely available in all kinds of configs like with adjustable stocks, folding, rails for attachments, etc, some are more tactile than wood (Hogue Overmolded ie). Ultimately, though OP gave somewhat of a disclaimer, it does come down to aesthetics and what you want to attach to them. And just for the record, both of mine that I regularly shoot have synthetic stocks, one I bought new just because I decided to go folder for compact carry and yeah, general overall tactikwelness just to have something "different". Sold the factory birch one to defray the cost: And the other I bought used because it came with a synthetic Ruger Boat Paddle stock which I didn't like at all but was worth some real bucks, so I sold it on eBay and put a Hogue on it. If it had come with wooden stock I would have left it on there: And I do have one more I've never shot with factory birch on it, just stashed it back when they were cheaper for just in case. - OS

As per federal law, only rifles and shotguns from an FFL may be received outside the state of one's residence. A receiver is not a rifle or shotgun -- since 2008 it is to be transferred on 4473 as "other firearm". (there are only 3 choices on 4473: "long gun", "handgun", "other firearm") I don't know your age, but by the same token, you must be 21 to buy a receiver from an FFL in any state as per federal law, as 18 year olds are only able to purchase rifles and shotguns. If an FFL will sell you a lower in TN, he's ignoring the instructions regarding the terms of his license, not to mention federal law itself. And of course if you're not 21, an FFL in your home state would be doing same. - OS

So, like one or both of those folks simply volunteered the info that they forced her to consume that? "According to the autopsy, when she was forced to drink all that liquid, she began vomiting, urinated on herself and asked to take a bath." Perhaps an autopsy might reveal recent vomiting and urine on surface of body (doubtful if checked for that, though) but not what she may or may not have said. - OS

It let me vote for both, so I did. Because both have upsides and downsides. - OS

Same guy, but no way that video in the shower is the same coon, unless it was when it was young. But shower vid uploaded on 7/2013, dance vid a year earlier. Of course either/both could have been shot long before. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yMbTRWV-oBw - OS

Well, resale for profit in TN requires charging TN sales tax on most items, even if it were paid to acquire the item. But I seriously doubt a state investigation is the issue here. - OS

HB 1885 (DaveTN- Look inside)
Oh Shoot replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Oh wow, that's a lot different than only allowing what would get you a Class C instead of a Class A for unlawful carry. It really is de facto constitutional carry. Surely zero chance of passing this year, but glad at least to see it afoot. - OS -
HB 1885 (DaveTN- Look inside)
Oh Shoot replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Interesting, would allow carry in vehicle, and any place not "open to the public" (though I've never exactly understood how that's defined). Trying to creep up on constitutional carry? - OS -
Well, if you don't see a difference you didn't do the mod correctly, as it allows bolt to release without touching the release lever, just pull bolt back and let it go. - OS

Because you couldn't be fired for refusing a search if they couldn't ask to do it in the first place is one way to look at it, I guess. - OS

Water system problem in Springfield/Greenbrier
Oh Shoot replied to Metalhead's topic in General Chat
So, it may be dangerous, but the only advice is to reduce usage? Didn't say not to drink it. I don't get it. - OS -
Seems would be a rare park that doesn't have some playground equipment in it somewhere. - OS

Well, season 4-B cranks up Sunday. Now that they're out of the prison and survivors all scattered to boot, bound to be fresher scenarios than in some time, eh? - OS

Yeah, might as well float your issue, might be simpler than you think. Or not. We have several attorneys onboard here in Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis that handle firearm issues, don't know of any around 'Nooga. at least one is TGO official vendor: http://www.cain-law.com/ - OS
