Oh, and apologies for absconding with your thread, ISP408, but here's final (maybe) config. Changed to MOE handguard and made VFG quick detach by using a .5" QD riser, a lot cheaper than going with a good QD grip itself, like a Tango Down. That way can carry or transport it fully loaded with one in chamber as a handgun with VFG removed, to to erase any doubt. - OS

Those are simply the federal rulings, which are same everywhere unless state has more stringent ones. One thing you've got different in MI is that feds measure OAL of a firearm at longest config, like with folders and collapsible stocks fully extended, but Michigan measures folders with it folded, don't know about collapsible ones. Know your rifles have to be 26" folded, unlike federally. Folks do make folding AR pistols with the LAW folding stock adapter, too, so that might be an additional quirk up there regarding the OAL of a pistol, too. - OS

Ok, final config (maybe) :) Changed to MOE handguard and made VFG quick detach with a .5" QD riser, a lot cheaper than going with a good QD grip like Tango Down or something: - OS

Pistol must be 26" in legal OAL (muzzle device doesn't count unless pinned/welded to spec) to add VFG, then it becomes a "firearm", so still not allowed on a "pistol" of any length. :) No way SIG brace would count, like pulling it back off the tube several inches or something. Only permanent muzzle device, the actual firearm itself, or stock have ever been mentioned as contributing to OAL in any ATF doc I've ever seen. - OS

There was also that fake suppressor on the gun I always forget the name of, that ATF later decided was a real suppressor, or could easily be made into one, or something. - OS

 That's a good way to put it. That's one of it's attractions all right, sorta sockin' it to The Man, 'cept of course The Man specifically told us we can do it. :) - OS

Thanks, but it's a "firearm", and without the VFG, a "pistol". :) This thread should really be in the Handgun forum. - OS

Just got mine configured, but going to carry a copy of mine. I already carried copies of rulings about "pistol-to-rifle-to-pistol" and "constructive possession" since I toted a "kit" for a while with one lower and both rifle and pistol uppers. I also will carry the ruling about the 26"/VFG thang too since mine is currently configured that way. Additional note: Just got this baby together in current confiig, and will be changing handguard, but going to make the VFG quick detach, because under exact wording of TN statutes, I can only carry or transport a "handgun" loaded with one in chamber, or transport a "rifle or shotgun" loaded without one in chamber, and with the VFG on it, it's neither. Not that your average LEO would necessarily know the finer points of ATF rulings, but no sense having such a gray area just in case. - OS

Yeah, got me, for about 30 seconds I thought they were hyping another show she was in. So at last we get a bit of her back story. - OS

You can find .223 all over the place, even often at Wally, not to mention beau coup online -- and even though it's generally higher than before Sandy Hook, it's not even in the ballpark of inflated rate of .22LR. I bought 3 boxes of Tula the other day for 5.20 base price each and didn't even nibble at the .45/round or so of ammo can full of American Eagle 5.56 they also had in stock. You want .223? Here's tons of it, starting at 26.5 cents a round in your hand: http://gun-deals.com/list/ammo/.223%252F5.56 (using Sevierville zip code) - OS

Yeah, it's 12C27 Sandvik, quite good stuff. - OS

Here, made quick shots. Soon as fingers squeeze into gap tween spare mag and butt of gun pressing downward a bit (pic1), trigger guard pops out of retention (pic 2), then there's no more friction from holster at all, and holster drops free (or of course stays in pocket), (pic 3). You set tension you like with the Chicago screw. Mine is set so that it pops out easily, yet out of pocket can hold it upside down by the holster and gun doesn't fall out without some pronounced jiggling. Hell of a design really, as spare mag isn't taking up any extra space, as that would just be wasted space below gun butt in pocket anyway. You have to use the short 6 round 9mm mag as spare though, not room for the 7 rounder. - OS

StellarRigs.com. They sell them on Kahr site for same price also. Re-read my previous post -- you don't tug against holster at all. You'd do same one handed deployment even if it weren't in a pocket at all. - OS

Is it legal to fire a Glock from your shoulder, or a rifle from your hip? :) Reckon this guy breaks the law shooting his 1911 with his feet? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlMz2sCDCA4 - OS

Yep, standard grip is really not a factor in the price. Hell, you can't sell one for two bucks. - OS -
Soon as fingers begin to squeeze between grip and spare mag, the gun pops out of retention and right into palm of your hand. You don't "pull" gun out of holster, so holster itself needs no friction in pocket to hold it back and you don't have to get initial grip around butt to get cranking. Very quick to deploy, actually nothing quicker if you have hand in pocket to begin with. As far as spare mag on weak side, yeah, would be "tactically" quicker, but I'm a high drag low speed guy. ;) I figure the trade off in space and convenience is worth the extra 5 sec would take to get the spare in action. Relatively confident that 7 rounds of 124gr 9mm +p hollow points will provide the extra seconds. If I were really much concerned about it, would just sacrifice deep concealment and comfort to carry higher capacity heater IWB. - OS

They're still apparently used by some plastic surgeons to minimize width of the scar. Not inexpensive either, I see: http://www.finescience.com/Special-Pages/Products.aspx?ProductId=296 - OS

AR's mandatory in Israeli college dorms

FWIW, this is the overview of firearm law/stats in Israel -- the number of permits and total civilian owned firearms is at odds with those stated in the article (says 500,000 civilian licensed guns as of 2007, so either there are a lot more handguns than the article claims, or long guns are not as hard to get as it claims): Israel It is forbidden in Israel to own any kind of firearm, including air pistols and rifles, without a firearms license. The list of below personnel are eligible for licenses allowing them to possess firearms: Israel Defense Forces officers honorably discharged with the rank of non-commissioned officer Reservists honorably discharged with the rank of regimental commander Ex-special forces enlisted men Retired police officers with the rank of sergeant Retired prison guards with the rank of squadron commander Licensed public transportation drivers transporting a minimum of five people Full-time dealers of jewellery or large sums of cash or valuables Civil Guard volunteers Residents of militarily strategic buffer zones considered essential to state security Such personnel are allowed to posses one handgun. Reservists honorably discharged with the rank of regimental commander are also eligible for licences allowing them to possess one rifle. Licensed hunters may possess one shotgun Licensed animal-control officers are allowed to possess two rifles Civil Guard snipers may possess one rifle. To legally own a gun as a souvenir, prize, inheritance, or award of appreciation from the military, an individual must first present proper documentation that they are about to receive it. Permits for gun collectors are extremely rare, and typically only given to ex-high-ranking officers. To obtain a gun license, an applicant must be a resident of Israel for at least three consecutive years, have no criminal record, be in good health, have no history of mental illness, pass a weapons-training course, and be over a certain age: 20 for women who completed military service or civil service equivalent 21 for men who completed military service or civil service equivalent 27 for those who did not complete military service or civil service equivalent 45 for residents of East Jerusalem. Gun licenses must be renewed every three years and permits are given only for personal use, not for business in the firearms sale while holders for self-defense purposes may own only one handgun, and may purchase a maximum of fifty rounds a year, except for those shot at firing ranges. Members of officially recognized shooting clubs (practical shooting, Olympic shooting) are eligible for personal licenses allowing them to possess additional firearms (small bore rifles, handguns, air rifles and air pistols) after demonstrating a need and fulfilling minimum membership time and activity requirements. Unlicensed individuals are allowed supervised use of pistols at firing ranges. Following a number of cases of firearm-related suicides at firing ranges, private individuals who do not own firearms are required to present a certificate of good conduct and a physician's health declaration in order to shoot at commercial firing ranges. Self-defense firearms may be carried in public, concealed or openly, together with ammunition, without needing any additional permits. Israel is notable for being a country with few places where firearms are off limits to licensed individuals (private premises, some government offices and institutions, courts). In addition to private licenses of firearms, organizations can issue carry licenses to their members for activity related to that organization (e.g. security companies, shooting clubs, other workplaces). Soldiers are allowed to carry their personal weapons and ammunition together while on furlough during active service, uniformed or in civilian clothing. In 2005, there were 236,879 private citizens and 154,000 security guards licensed to carry firearms. Another 34,000 Israelis who were previously licensed own guns illegally due to their failure to renew their gun license.[70][71] In 2007, there were estimated to be 500,000 civilian licensed guns in Israel, in addition to 1,757,500 in the military, and 26,040 in the police.[72][73] The regulation for gun ownership became stricter following the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin in 1995[citation needed] . Gun ownership in Israel is considered a privilege and not a right.[citation needed] - OS -
Your upload speed will determine what the users get, ya know. Is it enough, shared with x users at a time? Doesn't Charter have a max bandwidth per month like Comcast's 250 GB? If so, it that enough? Wouldn't you also have to get a static IP? Comcast won't give you one for residential account AFAIK. etc. - OS

The reviews suggest it is overpriced.
