  1.   That was my first thought. Being out of sync with the rest of the nation in both Central and Eastern time zones for whole standard time period would be rather messy -- thinking airline schedules, TV listings, time specific package delivery,  whatever, to mention a few things off top of bean.   - OS
  2. I put bird seed on floor of back deck instead of in the feeders and leave the sliding glass door open with pellet gun loaded on kitchen counter. :)   - OS
  3. Seems like a relatively strong possibility that the recent California decision on "may issue" could well become codified by SCOTUS to apply to all the states.    - OS
  4.   Yep, the look she gave when he first came over to her showed her apprehension, as she couldn't know if he knew the truth or not.   - OS
  5.   Nah, they've been classed as "destructive to property and may pose a safety or health risk to people, livestock, and other native wildlife" for years.   - OS
  6. Still and all, at least it's "fresh" again, total chaos just as in the beginning, no even temporary safe places.   - OS
  7.   Don't necessarily "need" to, but can add that nth degree of sharp if you use compound with it. Stropping is generally most useful for periodically restoring edge until you need actual resharpening. Think of straight razor that can sometimes go a year or more with just stropping.   - OS
  8.   Really. Duce doesn't get it --  Doug Ritter and KnifeRights.org are like the NRA of knife freedoms, they tilt at legislative dragons all over the US, and often slay them!   - OS
  9.   Not sure you can even handload it for that.   - OS
  10.   Think? Hell, it's well documented damn near 1:1 correlation with Type 2 (80% or more).  It's not so much that "obesity causes diabetes" as it is that "overeating, especially carbs and sugar, causes both", and the two conditions then become synergistic.   Simply stated,  with vast over consumption of carbs and sugar, the pancreas just can't keep the insulin production up to regulate the resultant glucose, plus all the excess not used for energy is stored as fat, which makes the whole system less efficient in general and also changes body chemistry,  especially in the liver so that the existing insulin is less efficiently utilized.   - OS
  11.   Now it's not just demand for actual shooting but mindset. In the past most folks that shot .22 a few times a year, even monthly or so, just kept a brick or less of ammo around, as could buy it whenever they needed it on short notice.   Now with "once bit twice shy" mentality,  everybody sees the need to stash a case or more, so you're looking at tenfold increase in demand or more, just due to that. Vicious cycle.   - OS
  12.   Yep, the fallacy of  "with a view to prevent crime". So since the Legislature cannot possibly prove that it indeed does prevent crime, it is unconstitutional. It actually creates crime, making a criminal out of an otherwise law abiding citizen if he packs heat without paying for the privilege. That and the fact the people who do Bad Things with guns aren't dissuaded by just one more relatively minor charge if they're packing without a permit.   - OS
  13. I'd posit that over half the folks in the US try to kill every snake they see, and I expect ratio of TGO folks is about the same.   - OS
  14.   That would be dirty politics on her part, she didn't have anything to do with saving Judith.   - OS
  15.   Wow, you're right. Good catch, that slipped by me at the time, never noticed.   Found his comment from a published email at the time: "I have consistently been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights, but this legislation goes too far - further than President Reagan, further than President Bush, and further than Tennessee law.”   Riggghhhhttt.   I also see he voted against the whole Credit Cardholders Bill of Rights Act, to which it was attached, too. He said this about that:   "This legislation is over-regulation that will lead to higher interest rates and less available credit. Also, it is unnecessary, because the Federal Reserve Board will implement many of the regulations in this bill next July."   - OS
  16.   Why did the chicken cross the road?   To prove to a possum that it can be done.   - OS
  17.   I for one would appreciate a bit of elaboration on that ?   TIA,   - OS
  18.   Well, now,  those are included in what I suggested. :)   - OS
  19.   I don't like Lamar for a lot of reasons, but can't say it's because of any gun grabbing on his part, what's that about?   Still pissed because he and Bob voted to end cloture on the Manchin-Toomey thing, I guess? If so, c'mon, they knew they had the votes to knock it down. It was actually good to have the vote, every senator there had to take a stand for all to see.   - OS
  20. Just grab a lower parts kit, spare complete bolt carrier group (or at least just spare complete bolt), and two spare sets of bolt parts , you oughtta be good for the apocalypse.   - OS
  21.   Well, actually, if it happened ala a bill like this, I guess it would be the "equivalent" of constitutional carry, since the constitution would have to be changed to really call it that.   However, if you look back over the history of gun carry legislation in TN, it has always taken concerted effort for several years to get any of it passed, and then usually a fixit bill or two afterwards. Happened with the carry permit itself, the "guns in bars" thang, parks, the parking lot thang, now parks again,  etc.   And this would be the biggest one of all; really unrealistic to think it could be pulled off yes "out of the blue".   - OS
  22. Y'all really think there's a chance to get constitutional carry in TN the first time somebody actually proposes it out of the blue?   - OS
  23. If you're close enough to snuff a snake with a .22 shotshell, you're close enough to be bitten.   - OS
  24. Obviously, your pocket has to be wide enough for your hand to get in there and grab the heater in the first place. Tight jeans generally don't work too well.   - OS
  25.   Apparently I'm reading the same Forbes article you are?:   http://www.forbes.com/sites/frankminiter/2013/12/19/christmas-comes-early-in-ilion-new-york-remington-outdoor-company-avoids-a-political-fire-sale/   Kollitides was already CEO of Freedom Group since March of 2012, while also serving as CEO of ROC, which was also already in existence. His profile:   http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/person.asp?personId=73765&privcapId=4264542   All very confusing, but it seems Cerberus still owns a controlling interest in Freedom/ROC? At any rate, seems all the companies involved will keep cranking as before, so that's good.   - OS
