  1.   It's almost certainly true that the cases won't. However, the bimetal bullets that are generally part and parcel with steel cased ammo will most definitely accelerate barrel wear.   Extractor wear and whatnot from steel cases is anecdotal only, but the barrel wear from the bimetal bullets has been empirically demonstrated.     - OS
  2. I've got a hodgepodge of metal ones, some bought new, some bought used,  all kinds of different followers in them. They've all worked fine so far with four different ARs.  Magpul and also the cheap Thermold 20 rounders have all done fine also.   I shoot 20 rounders more often than 30s so I admit that not all my 30s have been put through as many paces.   - OS
  3. Sure it's Allen and not Torx, right?
  4. Made me wonder how often his dad drives back and forth from the West Coast to make a living.   - OS
  5. Yeah, this section seems to somehow get changed for some folks once in a while:
  6.   I admit I know little about it, even though I've given it some degree of inquiry.   So the rumors of its decline are greatly exaggerated then, eh?   - OS
  7. So now I can not get three boxes of .22 instead of not getting only one.   - OS
  8. Well, seems the whole shebang may be just as volatile and perhaps even more fragile than other segments of world economy? One big case of fraud triggers death knell sell off?   Lots of dire predictions today, like:   Bitcoin virtual currency is on verge of collapse http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-bitcoin-collapse-20140226,0,5968430.story#ixzz2uSRPRpm7   - OS
  9.   Okay, so I tend toward hyperbole -- I am only probing the logic of it, your opinion raises no ire in me whatsoever.   - OS
  10.   They who? Your tirade was about "idiots I don't care to see carry a gun". Having a couple extra benjamins to spare doesn't cure that.   I rather doubt there are all that many folks who are both legally able and really want to carry a gun on their person that don't have a permit in TN, though I'm sure the money deters some. Probably more who pack one in their car without a permit, but just guessing on that.   Point is though, that in states that allow unregulated carry, there's no data to indicate that creates more public firearm accidents than in shall issue permit regulated ones.   - OS
  11. Y'know,  this bill would also allow 18 year olds to carry heat, too. And even minors to carry long guns?   I guess 39-17-1319 would keep minors from legally carrying hand guns.   - OS
  12.   Ya think paying a couple hundred bucks, getting a brief lecture on TN weapons law, and shooting 50 rounds at short range really significantly changes any of that?   - OS
  13.   'nother thread here:   http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/76367-true-detective/
  14.   Seems to echo what I said, as far as I understand what you say, that the actual legality of what you can do with a firearm is not determined by what an FFL decides to put in section 18 or 29 on 4473.   However,  since 8/2008 all receivers, new or used,  are supposed to be transferred as "other firearm" in section 18, but that doesn't necessarily make them legal to make a pistol with, any more than a receiver transferred as "rifle" before that change makes it necessarily illegal to do so.   - OS
  15.   End of the season, end of that story line, end of those characters.   Dunno if it's been renewed for a second one or not?   - OS
  16.   Be aware that what an FFL marks on the 4473 does not determine the legality as to how a given firearm may be configured.   - OS
  17.   The only federal law regarding schools and weapons I'm aware of is the very selectively enforced GFSZ, which concerns firearms only:   http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun-Free_School_Zones_Act_of_1990   Federal law regarding switchblades has more to do with possession on federal properties and interstate shipping, and is even more selectively enforced, if at all.   - OS
  18.   Thread is about a Chinese $1.99 knockoff knife already, which includes shipping from China!   - OS
  19.   That's because there's no consistency for the "rules" of  the fantasy. That and the firearm related absurdities are my biggest carps with the series. To help suspend disbelief you must be true to whatever parameters you postulate, or at least explain any exceptions.   - OS
  20. Wow...right at 6 years. A record? And post not even on topic, so extra points for that. :) - OS
  21.   See my revision to my post above.   - OS
  22.   Might be kind of rare period, since Ruger doesn't even offer a convertible model Vaquero at all any more?   edit:   check that, there's one distributor's exclusive from Davidson's that does.   - OS
  23.   Great minds not only think alike, but apparently simultaneously. :)   - OS
  24.   Make sure cylinder numbers match, though, so you know it was factory fitted and not just thrown into deal from another gun.   - OS
  25.   Yep.   Btw, Herter's .223 is Tula also, at least the last batches I got were.   - OS
