  1.   Yeah we do ... the ammo and guns. Especially the ammo.     Hell, the US would be crippled if all Chinese goods were curtailed suddenly. Likely crash our economy; only a small segment of our society could afford to purchase US replacement goods, which in many cases simply aren't currently available either.   Would be nice if we could get Chinese arms and ammo too.   - OS
  2.   Predictions from the Scruffy Little City Prophet:   Nothing "big" is going to happen. The law is passed, and will likely stand for many years if not "forever".   Folks will be charged one at a time when the illegal firearms are discovered due to incidental investigations and arrests for mostly unrelated matters. There is I suppose the possibility that those who turned in applications late might have their homes searched via warrant, but I rather doubt it.   Over time, most will be turned in as they are inherited by children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who grow up educated in the truth that they are evil.   - OS
  3. Russia just fired a test ICBM today. Yes, they filed the pertinent notice as required by SALT, but given the timing,  still has to be seen as a symbolic shot across the bow to every country on earth that opposes them on this latest tack.   - OS
  4.   I think many folks aren't aware that there is no federal mandate for the CLEO to sign off at all, and indeed there are any number of counties around the country where folks can not own NFA firearms just for that reason, that the CLEO refuses to sign any application,  even though there is no state law preventing them per se.   - OS
  5.   I imagine there would be a lot of quirky hassles like that regarding how various companies operate.   - OS
  6.   Me too, appreciate it Chip -- I'm on dialup for a week, so can't watch them yet unless I go out and settle in at a Starbucks or Krystal or somewhere.   - OS
  7.   Since he won Best Actor Oscar last night, doubt if he would mind much. :)   - OS
  8.   As far as making unlawful behavior lawful simply because it is selectively or rarely enforced -- I don't know of any famous precedent myself. Perhaps prohibition is sort of in that realm, where you basically had such widespread non compliance with the law, but it still took an amendment to change it back.   Perhaps you could punish those who don't enforce it would be about it, but that would I suppose take impeachment on federal level.   - OS
  9.   Medical hell, Now there simple legalization in two states and decriminalization in 12 or 13 more. While federal law is still unchanged, though it conflicts with all these, yet is unenforced by choice.   Good analogy showing the hypocrisy of selective federal enforcement between that and federal firearm laws, Sig.   - OS
  10. I rather enjoyed the episode. Since Daryl is really the main continuing hero in the whole shebang, I though it was rather nifty to get an insight into the fact that he had only basically been a cracker scuzzball, and only a bit less so than Merle.   Not meaning to equate the character changes he's had to go through with high classical drama or anything, but it nevertheless lends a bit of literary catharsis to the proceedings -- matters of conscience, rising above lowly circumstances, atonement and redemption, all that sort of stuff. And I actually liked the burning of the cabin as the symbolic unchaining from his past, and yadda yadda.   Anyway, thought it was fairly high minded effort on the writers' part and so I'm not gonna diss it. :)   - OS
  11.   Methinks it would carry a bolder challenge if Vanderboegh weren't safely ensconced with his unregistered arms a thousand miles away from CT. :)   - OS
  12.   All knives not specifically exempted are illegal in schools. Read the "like kind" definition, "any sharp pointed or edged instrument".   Strictly enforced through grammar school, somewhat less so in high school, practically nil on college level.   Just like a loaded firearm, safe to say that all knife carry in schools is "going armed", sans one of the exceptions or defenses.  Just depends on the appetite for enforcement.   But of course just like the parking lot bill for firearm carry, just because you don't get charged doesn't mean you don't get suspended/expelled or fired from the school.   - OS
  13.   I'm sure we can loosen firearm restrictions under Hillary's regime.   - OS
  14.   It passed 2 or 3 years ago.     Yeah, although the decision was only about Montana's "firearm freedom" law, unless SCOTUS decides to hear a similar one that works its way up from another state, I'd posit that precedent is now set solidly enough for the feds to continue their firearm enforcement unabated. Would take physical force on part of the state to attempt to enforce any of them.   - OS
  15. It is I. Ya don't think I spend this much time on here for free do ya?   - OS
  16.   Yep, I've toted some back in the day, and almost always had one in the car. Got popped for the car carry once too, dropped charges but lost the gun, a nice Ruger Redhawk in .357. They probably wouldn't have dropped them if I had had it on me, or maybe they would, I had a pretty influential mouthpiece.   - OS
  17. I got two boxes of 50 at a nickel/round out the door at Academy today. It was almost a transcendent experience.   - OS
  18.   K, you said 2.69, so wondered what the deal was.   - OS
  19.   Odd on that price. I got my two boxes of same today at the Brainerd Academy for $5 even out the door, $2.29 each.   First .22LR I've bought since before the election --  actually I think the first I've even seen in a brick and mortar at any price since then.   - OS
  20.   It will play out in dribs and drabs, one charge at at time most likely found because of investigations and arrests for unrelated issues. It will play out over time as kids and grandkids are "re-educated" enough to turn in those illegal terrible firearms found in their inherited attics.   But it won't play out as some kind of modern day Battle of New London or anything.   - OS
  21. Can someone explain in a paragraph why the video card is is important in the mining process?   - OS
  22.   I have two 30 rounders, maybe two years now, sit loaded all the time. Seems I'll always need to use UpLula to fill them up completely.   - OS
  23.   Well, you know, a shot out AR barrel is about as accurate as what an AK begins with , so it doesn't much matter so much with that platform. ;)
  24.   Bimetal steel bullets vs. brass through AR, epic torture test:   http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/#bookmark1   Barrels essentially shot out at 6K rounds with Wolf and Brown Bear.   http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/#erosion   - OS
  25. Here are just the email addresses to paste if you can make mailing lists with your email program, to send to all in one whack.   rep.mike.harrison@capitol.tn.gov rep.david.alexander@capitol.tn.gov rep.joe.armstrong@capitol.tn.gov rep.kevin.brooks@capitol.tn.gov rep.karen.camper@capitol.tn.gov rep.craig.fitzhugh@capitol.tn.gov rep.david.hawk@capitol.tn.gov rep.gerald.mccormick@capitol.tn.gov rep.steve.mcdaniel@capitol.tn.gov rep.gary.odom@capitol.tn.gov rep.dennis.roach@capitol.tn.gov rep.charles.sargent@capitol.tn.gov   I've been sending this short email, FWIW:   "I urge you to vote yes on (bill number) regarding the lifting of prohibitions on knife carry.   It is absurd that I am trusted to carry a firearm in this state yet face a Class A misdemeanor for having a knife with a blade length of 4.1 inches, or a switchblade knife, which deploys no quicker than an already legal assisted opening model.   Sincerely,"     - OS
