  1. This will likely degrade or even kill streaming services like NetFlix over time. The ISP can charge them more, so they charge you more, until it's cheaper to just add a movie package from the ISP, and force original content into the regular established market. I'm pretty sure in ways I don't even grok yet, the biggest winners will be the fattest cats who need it the least, just like the new "tax reform" act. This isn't "free capitalism" in the way conservatives like to spout it, it's just another way of picking winners by further greasing those who already sit at the top. - OS
  2. I'm more of the mind that since the big providers like Comcast / Verizon / ATT / Charter all like this, it can't be good for me. - OS
  3. Hmmm, seems millions of submitted comments that the committee was supposed to consider in making a decision which were in favor of nuking neutrality were fake, or bot generated, or something, from stolen identities. https://www.engadget.com/2017/12/14/fake-net-neutrality-comments-stolen-identities/ http://www.kcra.com/article/californians-names-used-in-fake-comments-supporting-net-neutrality-repeal/14438556 https://ag.ny.gov/press-release/ag-schneiderman-releases-new-details-investigation-fake-net-neutrality-comments - OS
  4. Appreciate the in-depth analysis. - OS
  5. Great. I'm sure this won't affect any of us at all, probably actually offer more outlets and speed things up at an even cheaper price for us all, right? - OS
  6. No guns are currently being made by the Beretta plant in Gallatin. Wow, seems like that would be headline news within the industry. - OS
  7. Thanks for the honest introspection, but don't let it abase you in any way. Life is messy and complicated period, for you obviously especially so. Be proud you've risen above a morass that could have easily sucked you down into it for good. Peace out, OS
  8. Again didn't send mine back, wondering if there would be reports like this. Though it seems yours is the first one I've read so far that was negative. - OS
  9. I'm finally just watching idly at this point. They really lost me over this season. Mostly poorly written logistics, half the time I have no idea where anyone is doing what they're doing, what they're trying to do at the moment or what/where they're on the way to do the next thing, whatever. I wouldn't put it past 'em to allow Carl to live somehow or other with some deus ex machina reason or other, another cheap shot like Glenn's first demise, which wasn't. And yeah, I really yawned at yet another Negan/Rick deadly one on one, lost count how many times that has happened, and how many times Rick could have just offed him one way or the other. Guess it has to be a big dramatic hoopla when he does it, not just a simple head shot from the ole Python. Whatever, I guess I'll have to keep watching since I've invested the years, but no longer very raptly; heck I haven't even watched all of them on the night they premiered. As I said before start of the season, they need to wrap the series up methinks. After Negan, peace and harmony and finis. But now you've got Morgan gonna hook up with the Fear The Walking Dead bunch some how or other for a season, and heard that in the long run he won't be gone forever from the main bunch, so looks like they'll keep milking it as long as the money flows. Heck I gave up on the FTWD series last year, so no big whoop to me. - OS
  10. No need for customer to even know, all handled by the FFL, no input from customer necessary at all. Been that way since original GCA of 1968. And as KahrMan says, no reason for FFL to have you wait for him to do it. There is a relatively recent requirement in the four southern border states only to do additional form for multiples of certain type rifles also. - OS
  11. FWIW, imbeds for moi: It is a great pic.
  12. Carole Lombard spent a good bit of time with guns, especially with Gable: Hamming it up a bit: - OS
  13. Yep, and he stressed player education, while saying he "done" this and that too. Colleges down there don't teach that sort of stuff of course. - OS
  14. Let's see, ya got: NY, NJ, CT, MD, CA, HI for sure, likely MA, RI, IL, WA, OR and ? - OS
  15. I'd say 5 or more states will ban together to file suit within days of it passing, will almost certainly find a judge to put stay on it till decided. - OS
  16. Ah, okay, thanks. I guess when I posted it, it just wasn't updated yet. Still don't know how the Fix NICS figures in. - OS edit: read somewhere that the Fix NICS part will be combined in the Senate version maybe
  17. Hard to know what's what. NRA-ILA in their blurb today still points to HR 38 here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/38 But that has none of the "Fix NICS" part in it. That bill this here: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/4434?r=58 They were supposed to have been combined, but neither shows an amendment and neither shows a vote. So who knows what the House actually passed today? Maybe somebody else can clear it up. - OS
  18. Did this happen right after update to Windows 10 or what? - OS
  19. Doh!
  20. Nope, was Kaiser Wilhelm Geschutz Long-Range Gun or "Paris Gun". 7 produced. http://www.popularmechanics.com/military/weapons/a228/1280861/ - OS
  21. ??? Couldn't find to what you are referring? Maybe something specific to "chain gangs" only or something? There are quite a few prison labor farms around the country. Lots of in-prison work industries too. Even low level convictions, like DUI and whatnot, have folks picking up trash on the road. Military still has sentences with "hard labor". Etc. In fact, 13th Amendment specifically allows it. - OS
  22. Read up, lots of little things. Capacity, multiple backstraps, grip texture, cocking serrations, different barrel lengths, "match grade" barrels, no trigger pull for takedown, picatinny rail extra slots, etc etc. The higher capacity doesn't apply to the .45 model though. - OS
  23. Well, the NK missiles certainly reach "space", last one was 2800 miles (the International Space Station orbits at 220 miles). - OS
  24. Far as I can tell, $399 is a fine price, although if it's plus tax you might can beat it on Bud's or where ever. Or not. The .45 models were always more than the 9 and 40. I imagine that's the "basic" package with just a couple of mags. I have three sizes of the original XDs (all in 9mm), never even tempted to "upgrade" to the M series, as they are just aces, plus had quite a few mags and the full sized ones aren't interchangeable with the M series. - OS
  25. Hell, it's only 35 miles from North Korea's heaviest artillery concentration to Seoul! We'd have to be very careful indeed with even conventional weapons targeting. - OS
