Watching entire hour devoted to it right now, it's really seeming more and more mysterious. Iranian man bought two of the tickets used by the stolen passport owners? Chinese Martyr Brigade? Wreckage falling on Hong Kong? I'm beginning to think twilight zone, it may have landed at an airport in the past or future! - OS

Haslam signs Senate Bill 1701 into law
Oh Shoot replied to daddyo's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
There's no exclusion for who owns the guns in the original bill or in the revised one. "the holder of a valid handgun carry permit recognized in Tennessee may transport and store a firearm or firearm ammunition in the permit holder's privately owned motor vehicle".... Doesn't say I can't store yours as well as mine, eh? - OS -
Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public. - OS

Had to mention, I don't think anyone in this thread remembers WWII? So if that's a qualifier, no more old farts at all in another decade or two ;) - OS

Driver's permit should cover any number of guns within it, no matter who they actually belong to, eh? - OS -

You already could keep a gun any way you wanted as long as vehicle was locked and you couldn't see the gun. - OS -
Possibly. With regards to steel ammo and sticking though, the more likely scenario is that after shooting x amount of steel, and without cleaning, you switch to brass and a brass one will stick. But yeah, really getting with an AR chamber brush surely wouldn't hurt to try. Seems like you built that upper, not sure I remember? I'd suggest making sure gas port is aligned well so you're getting full gas pressure, but then you say you have no failure with the Federal that's in the same power range or less, so guess it's probably not that. Whatever, one of the first things to try when narrowing down is to load one round in mag. Note (1) ejection angle and distance and (2) whether it locks bolt back. Oh, and you didn't arbitrarily use a heavier buffer or spring in the tube, didja? - OS

Mine has whatever J&T Distributing uses, fits nicely, SBR/pistol config. - OS

Saw a shady deal at Academy- with pic
Oh Shoot replied to LI0NSFAN's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Let's see, various folks here just in the last year state they claim to "boycott" Walmart, Dick's, Gander Mountain, MidwayUSA, CTD, or Troy just off top of my memory. Not to mention a host of local gun shops near them. If I followed each of those leads, don't guess I'd be getting much shootin' gear at all. :) - OS -
It generally is considered underpowered, which is why I was so surprised to see the Federal loafing along at 2840, when I was getting 2929 out of Monarch, 2872 from Wolf WPA, and even 2843 from Tula (all 55gr, same 16" barrel, 3 shot averages) Seems to me if underpowered loads are the prob in relation to your gassing parameters, if you can run Federal you could run anything. Myself, I want my rifles to be able to run anything, even if they are a bit over-gassed using the hottest 5.56 rounds. I don't have adjustable gas blocks on any of them, but of course that's likely the best way to go. - OS

You'd think they would have at least crowed about it a bit on the radio on the way down, at least a God is Great or two. - OS

Hmm. I shoot Russian steel 90% of time through 3 AR rifles and an AR pistol. Stuck empty casing once in a blue moon, easily remedied with quick light mortar. Flawless other than that. And of course, through my Minis also. - OS

His name is Kyle Myers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPS_Russia I never heard anything about an accidental death aside from still unsolved shooting of his associate either. - OS

He's from Georgia. The southern United States one. ;) - OS

38.3 actually. :) I'm just kinda miffed that it's underpowered compared to all the "junk" Russian stuff a lot of folks diss at up to a dime a round cheaper. Assuming the latest new panic doesn't really take hold. I first noticed several years ago when Wolf and Tula and Brown Bear and whatnot would hit higher on target at 200 yards, and then confirmed with a chrono test in the last year. Just kind of expect to get around 3000 fps with .223 55gr ammo from the major brands, but Federal is gonna gouge ya that extra little dab of powder. - OS

Yup, it's not necessarily unlawful to consume while packing, but the first sip in an establishment open to the public becomes a Class A 'meanor. - OS -
I've got ankle and shoulder holsters I'd wear if I was ever gonna do a Travis Bickle I guess. - OS

Ever chrono them? Rather disappointing really, most of the Russian stuff is hotter. - OS

7.62x39 and other Russian Ammo Threatened
Oh Shoot replied to runco's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Well, everybody's buddy Alex Jones says, "The largest wholesale gun & ammo distributors in the US have informed us in private conversation today that a massive scramble is on for all 7.62 as Russia has reportedly halted all exports to the US of Russian made ammunition." http://www.infowars.com/a-run-on-ammunition-has-begun-russia-has-reportedly-halted-all-exports-to-the-us-of-russian-made-ammunition/ So much for fanning any flames here on TGO having much affect. - OS -
Actually, there aren't that many that are particularly deadly at all. certain strains of E-coli, giardia, and cryptosporidium are probably the big three, but not necessarily present.. Can kill, but generally not. Not that you want to be out of commission with an infection from any of them of course. Cholera would almost certainly become prevalent during a complete SHTF once sanitation services are gone, but of course if you have that, you might not be wiping your own arse for a few days, depending -- all but one strain of it is 99% survivable if you know the simple treatment, but about 50% fatal if you don't. Probably some other of the traditional world wide killers would emerge over time too. On the other hand, urine, at least from a healthy individual, is relatively sterile. - OS

Ankle holsters, like shoulder holsters, always seem like a good idea, but few stay with them. - OS

Well, the Academy certainly agreed on that. - OS

Just simple majority of both House and Senate. One quirk, if legislature has adjourned, veto stands, so a bill would have to start over in next session. - OS

Saiga. None of them in any caliber work, right? Remington .223 bulk out of 16" barrel: 2840 Brown Bear, Barnaul: 2929, and 40% cheaper. - OS
