Yeah, if I shot mine much on regular basis, think I'd probably put a Decelerator or something on it. - OS -
TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Well, practically, we're in exactly same place as last year until it's a done deal. House hasn't even voted yet, right? - OS -

I do indeed remember that. Man, I miss that gathering, was just thinking about it yesterday when was cleaning out the GMC pig wagon. There's an old golfer's joke with that exact line, but it depends on telling it with a hoarse voice. :) Yeah, mine is billed as the "Express Synthetic 7 shot" (6+1 actually). That yours too? Did it come from Remy with the Hogue furniture? Remington's pic below, they changed the foregrip after I bought mine: - OS -
URGENT - Permit-less Car Carry in the Senate Tomorrow
Oh Shoot replied to wk05's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Big surprise. Not. Same thing that killed the bill for using permit in lieu of TICS/NICS check, too. It all comes back to the unconstitutionality of the HCP itself. To "regulate the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime" doesn't do anything but produce more criminals than we'd have with free universal carry. - OS -
Yep, I always figure the fix is in from the get-go on a lot of these. Like WorriedMan points out frequently, bill sponsors and even various committeemen get to tout how they "did all they could" to get something passed to their constituency to help reelection. Happens all the time in DC, too. Once Reid or Boehner has the vote margin on whatever, they'll let some in the party vote the other way if that can be seen as brownie points back home to aid in sending them back to be part of the Bigger Con. American Hustle indeed. - OS

All blasphemy, these Johnny-Come-Lately authors tacking their twisted takes on the true mythology. Next they'll be using crucifixes on werewolves. Bram Stoker is the Moses of Vampire-ism, Hammer Films delivered its Commandments, and Coppola finalized its Revelations. "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book". !! ;) - OS

No scope worth more than the gun, no brain wave operated hair trigger, no dodecagon rail? You feelin' okay? ;) - OS -
Where on TV? Name a movie or show where they are killing vampires with silver bullets, and I'll campaign to have the writer blackballed from the profession. ;) Take it from Anne Rice -- if anybody knows her vamps, it is she: " by Kai Ryssdal Monday, June 11, 2012 (All day) This final note today, a correction of sorts. Friday we were talking about how silver bullets can kill vampires. One of you tweeted us to say we got it wrong -- it's silver bullets for werewolves, not vampires. Anne Rice: We'll he's absolutely right. Traditionally a silver bullet is supposed to kill a werewolf. Vampires are not particularly affected by silver bullets. Traditionally what kills vampires is a wooden stake through the heart. Now that doesn't affect my vampires, but that's what kills the run-of-the-mill, all-world vampires. A silver bullet right through the heart usually kills a werewolf... I think with all supernatural creatures, if you can decapitate them you can pretty much do away with them." - OS

So what in the hell is the fiscal cost they are claiming in the House version? It doesn't have the part about signage not being necessary to remove? If it does, then just what is the fiscal burden associated with the House version? - OS

Doesn't faze 'em. Silver bullets are for werewolves, everybody knows that. :) - OS

Have lost track of where I've posted what. That above turned into this now: - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Yes. Simply does away with any knife carry laws at all. I suppose swords and sword canes and the like will be okay too. Maybe. There's still a ban on "any other implement for infliction of serious bodily injury or death that has no common lawful purpose", so dunno if that may rear its ugly head down the pike. - OS -
Don't see why. He had already been ousted for advocating "kindness between members". Sounds like the remaining church power base is meaner than he was! And he was a bastard, here's best writeup I've seen of his life: http://www.ibtimes.com/who-was-fred-phelps-excommunicated-anti-gay-leader-westboro-baptist-church-1562676 - OS

Whatever. Perhaps your vision and depth perception is better than average and you would have seen it differently from the same distance as these tree trimmers. Who knows? It's not particularly rare that cops shoot people at short ranges for what they perceive as a firearm in someone's hands, when it actually wasn't, and they have at least a degree of professional training. And another thing. Temp was freezing with snow on the ground when he did it, and stepping shirtless outside in conditions like that very well may have contributed to the reasonable reaction that he was making it plain he was showing a gun to back up his verbal demands. - OS
-
Legitimate tree trimming crew contracted by local utilities board doing their job, and a guy comes out and yells at them to quit, and from a distance appears he has a gun prominently displayed. Seems reasonable to me that those guys had a reasonable cause for apprehension, can't reasonably keep working but then reasonably can't not do the job they promised to do, so reasonably call the authorities, who reasonably show up to check things out, and they reasonably don't arrest anyone after reasonably assessing the situation. What do you find unreasonable about any of it? - OS

How many Bama engineering students does it take to change a light bulb? Just one, but he gets 3 hours course credit. ;) Seriously, that is great. - OS

Thanx. If you had said, "remain only the father of two", would have got it. Kept thinking, Glock, shoots ass, not 'nads, or some such. - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Have one, and plan to carry it if law changes even though it's just short of absurdly big. Shown with the 4" Voyager I'm currently carrying and an XD Service 9mm. - OS -
PJ, my point was that the state park part of the statute didn't require any signs to be changed at all because of the change in law, only for when they might need to be replaced as normal part of park maintenance. Hence, no bucks were allocated at all, so there was no financial burden attached to the thing at all. Seem same could have been put in this, and I wonder why it wasn't. - OS
-
Couldn't possibly have put the same little out they did for the state parks signage, right, so that no money needed to be spent? How did this pass the Senate financial committee, then? Or was this left out by drafters from the beginning on purpose so could be zapped, or what? - OS
