Yeah, question 18 is only three choices: long gun/handgun/other firearm (used to be long gun/handgun/both (for purchases of both, not that it was to made into both). 29 is more specific and has to be written in: "Type (pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, receiver, frame, etc.) (See instructions for question 29)" Point is though, if FFL muffs either or both parts, it doesn't legally make your Glock a rifle, or your 10/22 a shotgun, or your receiver (lower) a handgun or rifle, whatever, just because that's what's on the 4473. - OS

Zounds! Prithee tell how "most all" of my 20K+ posts have so sorely nettled thee? - OS

Note that while what a 4473 shows may be a clue, it is not definitive. If an FFL blows it on the form, that doesn't make something legal or illegal per se just because of what he designated. Note also that before 8/2008, there was no "other firearm" choice even available on the 4473, but of course a lower from before that time is still either legal or illegal for pistol use based on it's first configuration, just like any other lower. - OS

The law is clear. You can make a pistol out of any lower that was not first configured as a rifle. A completed lower, even with a stock attached, is still just a receiver/lower, ie "other firearm", and is also to be transferred as such on a 4473. It can't be a pistol without a barreled upper nor a rifle without same plus a stock attached. Note that a used upper, even though since 2008 which should have been transferred as "other firearm" if done through FFL, is still illegal to make a pistol from if it were first configured as a rifle in the past. Not getting into "proof" or "likelihood of being caught" etc, only that is the settled law as determined by SCOTUS in 1992, interpreting the USC that making a different type firearm from a legal rifle is illegal without the appropriate tax stamp. In short, if neither of those lowers was ever first configured as a rifle, either can legally be made into a pistol. Once made into a pistol, it can go back and forth between pistol and rifle also. If first made as a rifle, must stay a rifle. - OS

Unlike TN, Texas actually has "bars", hence the 51 signs posted as per one of their statutes. So you can't legally carry in "bars" there, but can drink alcohol in "non bars". No wackier than some of our nutso statutes. - OS

Sigh. You win, I'm an asshole, okay?

Have had wives and a foster kid. Lived rural, and had folks wandering through property once in a while. Lived in 'burb, had occasional unknown person transverse edge back yard. Lived in city neighborhood, same. Live in apt now, lots of kids here -- dozens of folks of course walk by my door, windows, and patio all the time. And not all live here, some are passing through to other places, we're a good shortcut. Just saying all things are relative and situation dependent. If OP wants to go hog wild on perimeter security 'cause one person set foot on his property fine with me, I'd just not stress much about it myself until circumstances further warranted it. - OS

Concern, sure; full tilt boogie red alert perimeter defense mode, getting sheriff involved, etc, nah, not without more reason than exhibited by the single encounter as reported here. - OS

Don't know I'd get bent out of shape about a single incidence, especially since it was such a benign encounter. - OS

I always assume there's equal chance for dark at the end of the tunnel on any weapons legislation. - OS -
Thanks. But 45 seconds convinced me I don't need to know. :) - OS

FWIW, I have no idea what that means. - OS

Ah, I couldn't even tell it was a dragon till I did a "burninating" search and found bigger image. - OS

Nah, they got it two years ago that they weren't making any headway in ratings trying to out-commie MSNBC. And since FOX seems pretty much unassailable for the right, I think they're trying to be a true third choice of "neutrality", which I always thought they pretty much were for quite a few years after they first cranked up. - OS

Yep. I might get better, but I'll never be well. ;) - OS -
Some people have a lot of money, ya know. Once CD interest crashed, a lot of folks just dumped a lot of their bucks into interest bearing checking and savings accounts. Say 2 grand a month for mortgage and utils and whatnot, that's only $144K over the six years, not exactly big rich status or anything. - OS

I have this Espada. Much as I like larger knives, I think I won't EDC it, though: Folded, with a Beretta 92FS: - OS -
Speaking of avatars, I can't make out yours either on desktop (1600x900) or laptop (1366x768). Heck I just changed down to 800x600 and still couldn't read what sign says on yours. But you can actually read the words? - OS

We don't have a restriction on double edged knives to begin with. Maybe you're referring to mention of "dagger" in school statute, which doesn't really matter since all knives are forbidden equally there. - OS -
I keep getting poo pooed when I say it, but CNN has come way back toward center over last couple of years. It really is the most neutral of the big three now. Doesn't seem to have helped their ratings though, seems the public is now more polarized than ever. - OS

I thought all those were only 4" blades to begin with? They make it larger sizes too? - OS -
Yeah, I pretty much got what was really going on there after a while, and your explanation here has been the most succinct one. Anybody tried just making another one to see if it was a timed expiration, or did they really code around that possibility now? ?Also, anybody tried same with shopping carts on other sites, or was there something unique only with Cabela's particular app for it? - OS

"Not need it = we ain't paying for it?" Need to get some sort of reputable rehab regime advice she can do at home, then. Will NOT likely be overall a good thing to just lay around after that "until it quits hurting". Hips are generally a whole lot easier to get over than knees. And yeah they get ya going right away. My mom walked a mile in gym a week or so after hers was done when she was about 78. - OS
