No wreckage has been recovered, so there's no way to estimate where the plane might actually have gone down, and hence no way to know at what depth the main parts of the plane lie. Submersibles have been to the deepest part of the ocean in the world (Mariana Trench), and I do believe we have working ROVs that can go to 23K feet with no human risk? - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
Best that it's something other than a Frost product you grab there! 'Course, the real brands they sell aren't bargain priced either, so lose lose IMO. - OS -
Yep, well known. I've done it myself. On the other hand, I've had steel cases stick too. Never had one that a light mortar wouldn't clear in AR, or the Garand Stomp in Mini 14. Did tear right through a steel rim in the Mini once, but was able to pry it with pocket knife blade or screwdriver tip at the scene, can't remember. - OS

Some states have industries that are beginning to be able to find human consumption markets for them. One good trick to eating carp is to fillet, skin, cut out bellies, then mince up with meat grinder until all the small bones in fillets are ground up too, smaller ones easier done than whoppers. Then mix up with an egg, onion, pepper, whatever, dust outsides with flour or cornmeal and fry like salmon patties. You can broil them too. I ate quite a few of our "native" carp back in the day that way, so unless these "asian" or "grass" carp are somehow significantly different, they oughtta be okay too? (somebody else can insert the "eat the board" recipe) ;) - OS

Right, so Malaysian Airlines or the Malaysian government itself has the ulterior motives, won't tell even though of course one or both know exactly what happened and where it is. Got it. (can't find an image showing both tin foil hat and face palm) - OS

American Rimfire scope mount
Oh Shoot replied to jimmydeuce's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Isn't it same leaf sight that's on 10/22? Never had any trouble clearing those with most any tipoff ring at least up to 40mm scope objective size. Dumb question maybe, but you are folding leaf sight down, right? - OS -
I may actually watch the one tonight, if it stays close; first time in more years than I can remember. I note that Pearl was zapped right after blow out loss to MI in tourney, a bit of historical irony there sorta kinda. - OS

I don't know of any federal appeals or even if it were ever challenged legally within the state. Only thing I note with quick looksee is that there was a state suit regarding transporting them between old and new residence, which was upheld as illegal. (you can own them, but can only transport them between range and home -- can't carry them even if you have a gun carry permit, which of course hardly anyone does there). - OS

Doesn't need this as precedent: NJ has had much more stringent hollow point ban in place for many years. - OS

I'm pleasantly surprised each day I wake up and get vertical. Let alone erect! - OS

Not that I care much, but TN playing Michigan tonight to get in Elite Eight. Rather surprised not one thread on that from some of you rabid fans? - OS

Is that any bass that has just been gutted, or does it also need to be filleted too? ;) But at any rate, no they aren't. Sea bass is totally different species from marine striped bass. However freshwater striped bass and marine striped bass are indeed the same species.Of course, the freshwater fish referred to simply as "striper" or "stripe" is the white bass, and another species yet, which bred with a striped bass produces our "hybrid bass", which is generally sterile. I know my various "stripers" (and not unfamiliar with more than a few "strippers" in my time too), sorry for the aside. :) - OS

I suppose without a specific preemption statute as the one under discussion, you can make the argument that any time the State enacts laws empowering local government to regulate carry, it was still the State that actually regulated "the wearing of arms with a view to prevent crime" - OS

I took a closer look, and indeed this is specifically mentioned on the directions for the 4473 regarding section 29 (type of firearm): "Types of firearms include : pistol, revolver, rifle, shotgun, receiver, frame and other firearms that are not either handguns or long guns (rifles or shotguns), such as firearms having a pistol grip that expel a shotgun shell or National Firearms Act (NFA) firearms." So here's the additional thing about that regarding the topic of thread -- again, perhaps splitting hairs, but since this must be notated also under question 18 as "other firearm", it too does not fit wording of TCA to allow you to carry it loaded in vehicle, any more than an AOW, simply because it is not a rifle or shotgun. So now we have at least three types of firearms that are not shotguns, rifles, or handguns, so under TN law are technically not allowed for loaded carry either on person or in vehicle with an HCP under federal definitions of firearms or TN's definitions either as I understand them: - an NFA AOW (which is not a handgun, rifle, or shotgun) - a pistol gripped only "shotgun" (which is not actually a shotgun) - a 26" "handgun" with a vertical forward grip attached (which is no longer actually a handgun) - OS

Yeah? Where's their official statement on that? You're drinking the same stuff as Dustbuster. Look, Boeing is the second largest contractor in the world to the US government, most all military. I'm sure the military geeks know exactly the capabilities they have on their aircraft. The US is spending beau coup effort and money in this thing too, and if there were something on that plane that could have tracked it, and or now locate it, it would already have been done. Y'all don't believe we went to the moon either, right? - OS
-
That's nuts and I think you are too if you really believe it. No kidding. - OS
-
So, you know, exactly what motive does Boeing have for not telling where the plane is, then? - OS

DB lost patent infringement lawsuit to Kahr just about a year ago. There's an update that hasn't been mentioned in thread. :) - OS

Agreed that adjustable block is the way to go for over gassed heater. But on the other hand if it ain't overgassed to the point where it malfunctions, I don't know that it really needs fixing at all, but a heavier buffer tweak can often gentle it down some. - OS

Plus shipping. But dude, you get a wobble target, too. ;) - OS

All kinds of detection methods, once they think they can define the haystack in which to look for the needle. As one expert put it, they still don't even know where the farm is, let alone the haystack. - OS

Yeah,'bout like that. Not written in stone or anything as there are other variables, but this is sort of rule of thumb: - OS

Agree totally. Did not ring true to me either, no way they're "good of the whole group" cohesive enough to give a flip, unless it had been Joe's brother or something. - OS
