  1.   That looks like government math.   - OS
  2.   I wouldn't think that very many brick and mortar gun stores in the US could price match Bud's all the time and stay in biz period, unless selling firearms isn't a mission critical part of it.   - OS
  3.     You two should be a great comfort to each other if you can finagle the same sanatorium.   - OS
  4. Birds wouldn't be able to do that if you didn't leave it laying out in the field. ;) - OS
  5.   It's clear but you're not sure? :)   Ya think everyone who resells commercial ammo on TGO is breaking federal and/or TN law?   - OS
  6.   Interpretation of federal statutes regarding armor piercing in 18 U.S. Code § 921 - Definitions and 18 U.S. Code § 922 - Unlawful acts   Probably something about it in CFR somewhere too, not sure.   - OS
  7.   Not gonna look for documentation, but it exists that navigable waterways are fine, same as a street or road.   (there is also the blanket exception, admittedly gray, of being "incident to lawful hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, sport shooting or other lawful activity")   Also documented somewhere that both TVA and COE have at least an informal policy of honoring permits at ramps/docks, even though some TVA parking areas at same are posted no guns.   I think you can assure your own self just by the simple fact that you won't find any news of anyone being arrested for carrying handgun with permit in those situations. Open carry of course draws attention, and perhaps YMMV for being hassled doing that, couldn't say but know of no cases of an open carrier being arrested either.   (IANAL, my legal opinion is worth what you paid for it) ;)   - OS
  8. Quite good overall, only a few carps. Box 2: Hate the "constructive intent" term, as absolutely no intent is required. "Constructive possession" is much better euphemism if you have to use one. Point being, you have either made an NFA firearm or you have not -- by having items in same area that have no legal config but an illegal one, you hae made one. Having only those two items in picture in your possession, you have absolutely made an NFA firearm under the ruling if they want to play hardball. Box 9: Pistol lower immaterial, short barrel with stock illegal without SBR stamp, period. Maybe it's just clumsy wording there. Box 10: correct, unless OAL is 26" or more, then not valid. Possibly chart was made before revised ruling in 2011. - OS
  9.   Only works if you still have access to the old email address though. People who leave one ISP for another don't if they were using the ISP email.   - OS
  10. Most of the 7.62x54R surplus is Czech and Romanian and whatnot isn't it?   - OS
  11.   Dunno about that at all. I'd posit that if federal gun laws were done by majority vote, we would be allowed to have single shot .22 rifles. Maybe.   Doubt we'd be carrying them just with majority vote in this state.   - OS
  12.   Federally defined in 94 AWB and in her recently proposed new one also, that ameliorated into the Manchin-Toomey bill.   Basically, any pistol that accepts removable magazine in other than pistol grip.   Several states include pistols in their "assault weapons" statutes.   - OS
  13.   Different issue. The various new manufacture Russian 5.56x45 and 7.62x39 is lead core, not steel, just has a steel jacket with copper wash over that.  There have been AR and AK pistols around forever, hasn't affected the supply of the Russian bi-metal stuff.   Wolf for example does distribute 5.45x39 normal bi-metal stuff, but this ban shouldn't affect that, it's all about the surplus steel core stuff. Which according to some folks I've read was running pretty low already anyway, dunno.   - OS
  14.   True enough, and PRC made isn't necessarily synonymous with crummy either.   Case in point, Sanrenmu, Navy, Enlan, Ganzo, Inron. Some excellent folders from these companies even for three times their actual price.   - OS
  15.   Hey there's a special dispensation for fishing and golf! Ain't it in the Constitution somewhere?   - OS
  16.   There's no reason to think the engines malfunctioned at all. All available evidence suggests the plane flew for hours after the last voice contact, likely until it ran out of fuel.   - OS
  17.   You can imagine anything you like of course. However, no man-portable SAM is taking out anything at 20,000 ft and higher.  And imagining that pirates have more sophisticated weaponry, fine, but again there's the little problem of motive. Pirates by definition are in it for the swag and none involved here.   Sam1 however asserted something as having happened that would be completely verifiable if true. I award that sort of thing the Class A Loon Award myself.   - OS
  18.   YOU said "They confirmed it was shot down." (post 436)   So, who "confirmed" it, and how do you know that?   - OS
  19. The skipjacks are sporty to catch on light tackle, that's about it. Carp is a delicacy compared to them in the frying pan IMNSHO, mainly because the herring flesh softens after death really quickly. Growing up, folks like to say they're rotten before you can get them off the hook. :) - OS
  20.   We have gizzard and threadfin shad in TN, nothing like the ocean run shad on the eastern seaboard. But they are small, 6 or 7 inches max adulthood.   What most people call "shad" in TN are actually skipjack, or river herring, 1-4 lbs. And trust me, you just don't want to fool with them unless you were starving.   - OS
  21.   Never looked into it any deeper.   - OS
  22.   That's really an astute analogy, never quite could describe how I felt about D.C. overall, but that succinctly nails it.   - OS
  23.   Vols were one point down with 9.6 seconds left, with inbound ball. Crashed when first guy with ball called for charge.   - OS
  24.   Well, they're Frost owned too, but actually still made in Germany, right?   - OS
  25. Is this a nail biter or what?   edit: crap
