Especially since they've shut down power generation from several sites over the years as simply "unnecessary". 'Course now they have to shut down 18 coal fired generators by 2017 and install $25billion worth of stuff on the others. - OS

Most of the AKs I've ever racked feel like they shouldn't really work reliably, including my own. :) - OS

So, ya gonna order one from Bud's? ;) - OS

My bucks are pretty much immoral also. I'm one of the few who will admit that I'll still buy from CTD if the price is right. If their business model succeeds (and looks like it has just fine), good for them I reckon, and good for me if I get a good deal from them while shunning them when I can't. I'm also still using FireFox, Google, carry a Moonie gun daily, and shop at Walmart regularly. - OS

Mine only said as justification that they had so many shipments that had to be sent back. If they had simply put that info on their own website, which states $25 for any transfer, I would have paid it knowing about it beforehand, or actually probably looked for someone else. But your reason might be the real one. - OS

Didn't see a post on this about Kansas!!

Now you're catching on. If you can't exercise a right, you don't have it. If US Constitution says one thing, but federal law says another, the law wins. I think one or more have enacted the legality of doing exactly that. TN excludes full auto, but says that you may make and sell firearms, including short barreled rifles and suppressors within this state without a license. Feds say no, because it has laws against that sort of thing, which apply to all states. I'd bet on the feds. - OS -

The BOR is a "contract" between the federal government and you, not the state and you. But of course the fact that there are federal firearm laws at all should clue you that the Constitution is only as good as the federal laws (or lack of them) allow. Not to mention that access to certain arms can be determined by a mere stoke of one man's pen, no additional law required. Further, as has been determined over time by SCOTUS, the Constitution does not necessarily grant you the same rights under your state's law, unless determined to apply ("incorporated"). Remember for example that is was not illegal for states to discriminate in myriad ways against certain segments of their citizenry until 1964. - OS -
Yeah, discovered my FFL wanted 50 clams instead of usual 25 to transfer from Bud's. Turns out that is mentioned on Bud's site for their service, but I missed it during checkout. I had already done 4473 before they hit me with that -- I raised a bit of a huff, since had used them a number of times and also because it ain't mentioned on their (the FFL's website) and they relented to normal fee, but yeah, something to keep in mind. I was always a bit leery from buying from Bud's from what I'd read here and there, but since this was just a low down WASR, I figgered as long as all the parts were actually on it it didn't much matter. - OS

I guess a state could, before McDonald vs Chicago. Until then, the ownership part of 2A had not been incorporated to the states. So far, the carry part has not been, and indeed of course doesn't apply to the federal government, as it bans carry in DC and federal buildings. - OS -

The weirdest ones I've ever gotten are 2 or 3 in the last year, notices that "my order" has shipped, with a USPS tracking number. The tracking number shows as generated on USPS site, but never go as far as accepted. Weird thing is that it can't be phishing, as there's no link for interaction. Actual email address is well spoofed too. Never have figgered out what those could possibly be about. I get the various "your PayPal accout needs updating" ones of course, but they're never related to any actual transaction. Have used PP for at least a couple of hundred grand over the years, never any hack directly related to an actual transaction. Which suggests that the "leak" might be on your end, but of course couldn't say for sure. - OS

TN Constitution doesn't agree. This is a way to circumvent at least part of it by throwing out "a view to prevent crime" as justification. I'm afraid the buck flow involved with the HCP may well be a much larger impediment than the TN Constitution on allowing concealed carry, though. Only part of 2A has been incorporated to the states, and the "bear" part isn't included. - OS -
Gun shows, at least the ones in Knoxville, have one big plus -- private sales/trades, hundreds offered in the same location in course of day. Only place it happens. As far as selling, it's rare that one our Usual Suspects here doesn't unload a gun for what he realistically hoped to get or more. - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
A bat is illegal too, if possessed with intent to go armed. Really, anything you can seriously injure a person with by striking them with it fits definition of "club" in TCA. - OS -
Stated by an Advocare pusher no doubt. Of course it is a pyramid, plus MLM, just like Amway and any number of lesser known ones, in that more people can make more money by enlisting other "distributors" than by selling the actual products. People just paying the sign up fee, the money filters up the pyramid regardless of whether any products are actually sold or not. - OS

Well, see my post in your trading post thread? I'm very pleased with my lowly WASR 10. I've even ordered it a sling, butt pad, and action buffer after running the first 100 through it yesterday. I might even tung oil the wood too; or not, seems to be picking up character just from oil and grunge from my hands already. :) - OS

High price of skag doesn't keep it out of idiots' veins, or gas out of their tanks. Seems to me it's more reasonable people who drive less by combining errands into single trips, carpooling, or even (shudder) taking public trans. - OS

BREAKING Better buy all the 5.45 you can find
Oh Shoot replied to mcordell's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
No, no shortage at all with newly manufactured Russian stuff in that caliber. Hasn't really jumped way up in price from norm either, 'bout a quarter a round in hand. Bad news is, this is about same price as for .223 or 7.62x39, but not the cheaper hit that folks that use it have been accustomed to with the surplus stuff. 'Bout like if they stopped all the surplus for 7.62x54R suddenly I reckon -- the Mosin would suddenly become the most closeted gun in America! - OS -
Or JB Weld? - OS

Yep. Only way it gets cheaper here is if it also gets cheaper on world market. We are actually a significant exporter of various oil and refined fuels. We also are expected to be a net exporter of natural gas before long, too. - OS

Same ole through the years, panic up to $3, settles back down $2, panic to $4, settles to $3, etc. Of course it will be $5 standard at some point. Very analogous to ammo, just not as volatile. Pretty sure I don't know of anything that stays same price or less over time, eh? - OS

He can't "veto" something that hasn't been passed by both chambers. Bills are automatically dead when session ends anyway, have to be resubmitted in new session. Btw, feller on another forum informs that Haslam has sent his revised budget, so theoretically committee can now see if money is there to pay for it, says he actually expects it to clear committee. Overly optimistic IMO, but we'll see. I'm still a bit confused about the whole fiscal note on the thing period. - OS
