That is cool. 'Course you can use the KNS pins and not fool with springs/detentes at all: The takedown one is nice solution for putting a rifle length buffer tube on a pistol, without having to tap the spring/detente channel for a set screw. - OS

That might actually turn out to be close to the real answer once it's revealed. Been my main carp with the series, really, that when you postulate an "illogical" premise like the Zed thing in the first place, all the rest of the plot elements and motivations need to be oppositely "logical" to facilitate suspension of disbelief. - OS

Yep, the "gun show loophole", the same "loophole" that exists everywhere else in the freer states. - OS

It's a StellarRigs.com creation, holsters a lot better than the website :). This one and some other models sold through Kahr's site also, for same price. - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry

Well, all I can say is YAHOO! I prematurely bought my large Voyager during last year's session, glad it won't just sit in the abode now! - OS -
TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry

Now yes, it's illegal if determined to be going armed, didn't get your drift. After July 1, it might be a nice payday to be arrested for it. - OS -
Yeah those are Jack Crevalle. They do roil the surface after bait fish, but aren't acrobatic when hooked. Very strong like most salt water fish though, imagine a 20 lb or more bluegill with more stamina. edit: apologies for continuing the thread drift, but hey, it's fishing! - OS

Discussed quite a bit here. Placed "behind the budget" by Ways and Means Committee. http://wapp.capitol.tn.gov/apps/BillInfo/Default.aspx?BillNumber=HB1407 which usually means they won't fund it, so that it gets out of committee. Of course writing it so that there was a fiscal note on it at all seems obvious to me that the fix was in to derail it from the gitgo since as I understand it the Senate counterpart did not. As I understand the timing, Haslam has submitted new budget, so theoretically, they could "find" the money. Of course, looks like we're gonna insure that every high school graduate in the state gets two free years of junior college or some such, so I doubt if a gun bill will be in the running for any expenditure. - OS

What law would prohibit it? As far as carrying broadswords and the like in public, can't imagine anything except perhaps some public disturbance law on state or local level that one could possibly be charged with? - OS -
Razor blade does same. I can do one with just paper clip now too. Ten clams is ten clams. But I still do it in a plastic bag. :) - OS

I don't believe anyone has found jack, no reason to believe the 2 hour ping was valid either at this point IMHO. But IF it's really in that area, I'd wager it's gonna take months to find it by sonar mapping. At the least. - OS

Doesn't matter, looks like it's dead in House anyway. - OS

26 arrested in Clarksville prostitution sting.
Oh Shoot replied to Chucktshoes's topic in General Chat
Yep, just another example. The states are licensing and taxing sales, and the fed will be no different if it becomes "legal" nationwide. Just like liquor and tobacco. Porn is the only "sin" that's relatively unregulated, though there are lots of local laws. I think we still have the pastie/g-string thing in Knox county clubs, and none at all in city? - OS -
First time, a clear plastic bag you can get lower and hands into will likely be a friend for anything involving spring/detente. I used this feller's vids first time. I don't have receiver block or vise either. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA_Vkb2UB1w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jq4KfUaVp8M - OS

Maybe the ladyfish, "skipjack" is one colloquial name for them. I've caught them in the Keys, and no, nobody eats them. Dunno if they are in Pontchartrain or not but apparently can do brackish water too. (edit: looks like they are indeed in Pontchartrain). I never caught one but about half the size of this one. They do acrobatics like small tarpon when hooked, similar to our own skipjack. (edit: looks like there are actually tarpon in Pontchartrain sometimes too). But there is also a "skipjack shad" or "skipjack herring" down there in Pontchartrain too, get to about 20" apparently, and may even be same thing as our TN skipjack "river herring" so dunno. Mullet are strange. Delicious, yet used more for cut bait and chum. People do catch them on hook and line, but very specialized technique necessary. - OS

Legalize a "sin" without gummit regulation? Sure, quite a history of that in USA. Sounds like a Pollyanna argument to me. - OS -

Legalize, license the provider (including strict as reasonably enforceable medical checks), decriminalize the john, and hit it with the sin tax . Increase criminal penalty for doing it off the books. Prostitutes and customers are better off, the cops can still bust unlicensed providers, gummit coffers are greased, and moralists are perfectly free to rant and protest as usual, even the ones that sample the services. :) - OS -
Beauty of that design is that no pocket retention is necessary at all -- pressing down on it in pocket, soon as you start fingers between grip and spare mag, heater pops up out of holster retention into hand, no more friction with holster. edit: here's visual aid I did some time ago: - OS

Plus usually a necker, forgot it. Hopefully will be changing the Voyager for its bigger brother July 1. - OS

Well, thanks Chip, that clears up a lot of issues for me. ;) - OS- 1 reply

Yeah, ain't all tactical like on weakside for quick reload, but that would just be wasted space under grip anyway, so great way to have the extra rounds with ya. - OS

Boy, if we've actually got a an actual crewed sub like that, that would quite the secret. Seems pretty well known our nuke class subs have about half a mile crush depth. Course, I guess "crewed" is debatable term and all, men have been to Challenger Deep twice. But mainly, I can't believe they've actually found it with such a shot in the dark like this, without even one piece of debris found at all. The Chinese report of hearing black box ping 300 miles away from where they are now looking to reacquire the most recent one also seems to be bogus now. Or maybe they both are, who knows. - OS

Not a manned one. Private company's ROV. Deepest ever recorder recovery, 16,000'. edit: was the cockpit voice recorder, they didn't find the black box. - OS

Kahr PM9 has been aces for me. If I can't carry a 9mm in pocket, I'd bump up to my XD9 subbie in IWB. PM or CM 40 is same size, just one less round: - OS

TN Bill to remove restrictions on knife possession and carry
Oh Shoot replied to Capbyrd's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
As others have mentioned, nope. Because carry of any "knife" will not be unlawful except in schools, where all knives are de facto verboten, except for quite narrow exceptions. A "sword" is simply a large "knife" under the definition in 39-17-1301: " "Knife" means any bladed hand instrument that is capable of inflicting serious bodily injury or death by cutting or stabbing a person with the instrument" - OS
