I've got a Smith Enterprise to sell (not trying to sell it through this thread, I'm a benefactor and will do it through Trading Post if I sell it through TGO, ok?). Anyone used one? Guy in one review I found on Brownell's says it's better than his Miculek. - OS

URGENT - Permit-less Car Carry in the Senate Tomorrow
Oh Shoot replied to wk05's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Not sure what happens if he vetoes it after Session adjourns, though. Aren't they about done? I guess they have to wait till next session to override or not, or do they have to start over? There's no "pocket veto" in TN though. - OS -

10 days not counting Sundays -
Don't have any of their rifle cases or vests and stuff, but I have various Condor molle pouches/cases and they've been just fine, seem tough as any. All the add on stuff on my around town pack are Condor, and have held up fine for several years now packed with various stuff. There's actually one more small one on the back side of the water bottle case, too. Also have Condor AR and pistol mag cases and they're fine. - OS

C'mon, you are just one of the "rants". - OS -
Was just about to bring that up, but read to end of thread, so didn't have to. Seems KevHunt would like to have this mandated too. Hell, maybe not such a bad idea, except for that little thing called freedom; and the fact that next step would be who's allowed to breed at all. Maybe not a bad idea either in some cases, but who decides that -- the government Master Race Czar? - OS

Just plant once, you keep putting more dirt in leaving top of plant to keep growing up. Seems some plant directly in ground, some plant in first tire depth, but probably better overall plant strength to have end of roots in actual terra firma. I only did it once, just put tire around ground plant once it came up, kept adding dirt leaving about 6" of green top, keep adding dirt in one tire until ready for another. Think only went 3 high, two or three stack experiment, worked well enough -- but we never took much care of a garden after we planted it. We used the Philosophy of Lazy, plant a lot of everything, let the weeds, bugs, and critters take what they wanted, and there was always plenty left over for us. :) My boss at the time did it every year with several different kinds of spuds, though, and he'd go maybe six or more before diminishing returns. Probably differs depending on spud type, dunno. I was there for a couple of "harvests", a real hoot, and real easy! Main advantage is getting a lot of spuds from small surface area, real cool for small garden spots. Lots of how to on web, with various conflicting advice of course: https://www.google.com/search?q=grow+potatoes+in+tires&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&channel=sb - OS

Here's my uber high end WASR. :) Apparently the rumors are true that they've sobered up the Romanians on the line some and take a bit more care on this end at CIA too, everything is straight. Mag wooble, yes, but not loose enough to rattle when carrying or anything, so good enough for moi. Added sling, UTG butt pad (yes I'm a wimp, first 120 rounds left a bruise on my widdle shoulder), and a QD UTG side rail mount with a cheapo 4x scope. The "Sniper" scope is second one I've bought, 24 clams!, with rings!, and the first one has held up well on one of my ARs for quite a few rounds -- knock on wood but if they last will be the most solid firearm related purchases ever. Oh yeah, also put a bolt buffer in there, definitely nice to take away the metal on metal feel and sound. Oddly, the unfinished wood is solid, not the plywood laminate pictured at CIA or Buds, with solid steel buttpad, no hole in it or stock for cleaning kit. Seems quite nice actually. I'm gonna take all the wood off and tung oil it over a couple weeks if I can get to where I don't feel compelled to shoot it every few days! - OS

Another good use for old tires, grow potatoes in them. Keep stacking tires, filling with dirt, greenery will keep rising and making potatoes beneath. You can go 5 or 6 high or so. To harvest, kick over the tires, spuds everywhere all in same limited area. Only downside is might need to water more often depending on rainfall. - OS

Any gun can slam fire if the firing pin is in full forward position due to crud in channel or mechanical malfunction. However, there are any number of firearms with floating firing pins that can leave indentation on primer upon chamberbing when in perfect operating condition. Softer the primer, the more likely. Includes SKS, AR, most AK, Garand, M1A, others. - OS

Speaking of Park Carry - Knoxville
Oh Shoot replied to Oh Shoot's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
As for thread theme SB 1612/HB 1399 has not yet been signed, but is effective immediately "on becoming a law". I've never been clear exactly when that is? Something else official have to happen after Gov's sig? At any rate, yes, it would seem that Knoxville will have to opt out of state parks statute and put up signage to keep park carry prohibited -- however I am not a lawyer, but pretty sure I'd tell you to re-read post 21 even if I were. - OS -
Trust you are reading rest of thread or looking for online reference -- numerous firearms can make slight indentation on primer. It's a common "eek!" from new AR owners who notice it. - OS

Great find, man. One of several classic CS models that used to be made here, like the SRK. - OS

Oh Shoot replied to wk05's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
You should know that if you use a firearm in justifiable self defense or defense of another, none of the weapons section penalties are applicable, permit or not, so that's a pretty moot point. Certainly, having a legal firearm in the car is a big benefit, same as in your domicile. Maybe you take a nap at a rest area or truck stop and get accosted, maybe you come to the defense of your spouse who is outside the car toting purchases, maybe any other reasonable circumstances nearby but not actually in the confines of your vehicle -- parking lots indeed are a large percentage of robberies, shootings, etc. . Point is, law abiding folks are much more likely to be able to respond to whatever arises nearby outside the vehicle when they can legally pack heat inside the vehicle, that's only logical. Same with your home. The castle doctrine does not give you the same presumption for deadly force outside the confines of your home, you are certainly fee to respond outside if circumstances dictate your reasonable fear of death or serious injury, something you couldn't do if you couldn't also keep loaded weapons inside the home. Yes, there's a minor difference, since you can pack heat anywhere on your property, but that is a technical one, as the rules regarding deadly force outside the domicile are the same as on the street. Yes, stepping outside your vehicle with a loaded gun and no permit could possibly get you a Class A, B, or C Misdemeanor conviction. It could also save your or another's life in justifiable self defense, with no charge at all. But risking conviction every day for simply having a loaded firearm in your vehicle is absurd, law abiding folks won't do it, and hence have no chance of saving that life. Being able to have loaded firearms inside your vehicle without a permit is indeed the biggest stride toward the intent of 2A in TN since carrying a firearm became a crime in the first place. - OS -

Bingo. - OS -
Yes. Nothing changed with any of the state parks law at all, except tangentially, with local ordinances no longer being valid. - OS

They only needed a majority in Senate to pass the Reconciliation Act, as it was not subject to filibuster, passed 56-43. Obamacare was already passed regardless, but yeah it's an underhanded way to change something already enacted, but GOP has used it also. - OS

That notice is a year old, they put it up when last year's law was passed. Dunno if can still stand with the new one, we'll see. - OS -
HB0009/SB0108 - relates to public records and HCP
Oh Shoot replied to JAB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Well, one thing that's not in either the last version or this version: any actual penalties for anyone who does get hold of the data and uses it? Matter of fact, there's no penalty in the bill for even releasing it -- maybe state employees violating any state law without specific penalty mentioned is blanket covered elsewhere, dunno. - OS -
HB0009/SB0108 - relates to public records and HCP
Oh Shoot replied to JAB's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Haven't sussed it out yet, but we thought the legislation last year would do that, but it only prevented them from updating what they already had on file. Hopefully this one will nuke it entirely. I note law takes effect immediately, but CA database is still up, so I wonder. - OS -
Yeah, that was main controversy, big money was involved. - OS
