  1. As usual, I'm off the bellcurve on this. Always ran my own modem/router, but they gave me a cheaper package deal with the VOIP phone about 9 months ago, (which I don't even use except once in a while to find my cell phone :))   So have just used the Comcast modem/router, Arris TG862G, read about all this public wifi addition several months ago, but didn't and still  don't have the xfinitywifi public on it apparently. Don't see it when I surf into it. No "xfinitywifi" connection shows, and until recently none showed on wifi on laptop either.   Just noticed that there is one now, but obviously someone else's in the complex here. Only 60% signal strength, and I confirmed by logging in and surfing with my modem disconnected from cable, so it ain't mine.   Wondering if my modem didn't get a firmware change pushed to it or something. Online at comcast.net "manage xfinity wifi" always just gives error message of "We're sorry. Something unexpected happened. Please try again later."   Not complaining, just curious. But so far not curious enough to call and talk to "Bob" or "Betty" from India or wherever.   - OS
  2.   In toy section no less:   http://www.greenvilleonline.com/story/news/local/2014/06/05/loaded-gun-found-among-toys-sc-target-store/10025687/   with tie in to other events:   http://www.forbes.com/sites/clareoconnor/2014/06/05/pressure-mounts-on-target-to-ban-firearms-after-loaded-gun-found-in-toy-aisle/   - OS
  3.   Yah, I agree that's pretty much a given. Even in Texas, most folks in populated areas are never gonna just shrug off an AR or AK just slung over the shoulder, let alone held in the hands. Not anywhere else in the US either.   Might as well try to educate folks that walking around naked shouldn't be out of the ordinary, nothing to see here. Right.    But the big diff is that the firearm elicits real fear for personal safety, especially when toted by folks who look scuzzy in the first place.   - OS
  4.   Just lends credulity to idea that plane entered the ocean without breaking up,  but whether that for sure indicates a deliberate pilot controlled ditch I don't know.   Still almost 100% unanswered questions. Every theory has a converse that is just about as plausible.   - OS
  5. Hardly ever carry that way anymore, but here are two that I have. 1.5" Beltman bullhide belt daily regardless of what/how I'm packing. - OS
  6.   So is Beretta.   Though my Kahr PM9 has been for all practical purposes 100% since first round, I do acknowledge that they likely have a higher % of problematic ones than many of the other big companies.   Part of that though is simply the miniaturization ..  the smaller you go the closer the margin on tolerances between success and failure, and I think you'll find a higher malf rate among small guns vs full sized ones in general. Indeed, it's the only firearm I own that I clean every time I fire it, and sometimes lubed in between if it's resided in pocket for good long while.   Anyway, even if mine had had any probs, assuming they were rectified, would still be carrying it, as there's just not anything smaller I can comfortably pocket carry with same caliber/capability, smooth trigger, etc. Also, and have never understood exactly why, but this little heater doesn't have the least bit of objectionable recoil, something I can't say for some other small 9mm offerings, not to mention even some .380s.   - OS
  7.   Officially standing by these cretins is tantamount to "negotiating our rights away".   Campaigns are not necessarily won with brute frontal assaults, especially in the PR wars.   - OS
  8. What model Spydie is it? Looks odd, like blade doesn't come close to filling grip when closed?   - OS
  9.   http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/ffl.php   Note that "last reported transfer fee" is listed for most of them but you should confirm with FFL.     Yeah, I was  "victim" of that. To be totally fair I guess, that higher fee was listed for them on Bud's FFL finder, but I didn't catch it  -- and it wasn't mentioned on FFL's site, only their normal quoted fee which I was used to paying.   - OS
  10.   22.5 is best price I've gotten from private sale lately too, generally .24 from retailer on line.   - OS
  11.   Yeah, I like everything, including sushi.  But can only afford the pedestrian stuff at the Chinese buffets -- would cost me 2 bills to fill up on it at a tony sushi bar.   - OS
  12. They are a ground plant: The "apples": - OS
  13.   Wasn't a big deal, more a matter of curiosity for me. Dolo thought there could well be a stock attached in pic and I didn't, but since it's not even your pic we'll never know -- peace be on thee brother. :)   - OS
  14.   Well, perhaps because the actual story is that maybe 1% of people who legally carry handguns ever have to use them in self defense away from the home, and maybe only a slightly higher percentage of folks have to use guns in self defense in their home period?. And that 95% or more of those cases actually are deemed justified, and are never prosecuted?   And yeah, anyone can sue anyone, but also that 95% or more of those suits go nowhere also?   - OS
  15.   Yeah, I get notice from Wikiarms alert thing, I check within seconds, always gone.   I fear if I ever do see a box of anything .22 at Wallyworld, my heart may stop.   - OS
  16. The paranoiac view of having that is that if actually needed, it would be asserted by prosecution as proclivity to seek out an armed encounter.   - OS
  17.   Well, without ammo to feed them, the firearms do sadly become a bit beside the point, though.   I'm beginning to wonder if this .22 shortage thang isn't gonna be frigging forever for the most part.   - OS
  18. Just realized that Sidewinder could explain, I dunno why I thought pix were from outside source till now. :)   - OS
  19.   I mentioned Michigan, where for sure long guns must be 26" in folded position. Not exactly sure what the violation is though, like illegal SBR/SBS or what.     Seems that also pistols must be under 26" OAL, but again, not sure whether that means they simply can't be carried under status of permit or whether that makes them into something illegal period.   - OS
  20. Well, if part of the actual extension that would hold the stock is indeed still in the hinge, seems clear that no stock is attached to it, so must have indeed cut it off, unless pic has been doctored or something. Also, is the center hinge pin not removable, to allow removing stock and arm entirely, which would seem to be another possibility? That bottom flange looking area could just be part of the housing. -OS
  21.   Guess you'll have to. Not being obstreperous, just don't grok the "wings" and "club foot", as I don't discern anything except the hinge itself in the pic.   edit: was typing when you were. Okey dokey.   - OS
  22. Well, lost, so I guess so. I'm just not seeing a stock, only the hinged mechanism on grip that could hold one., - OS
  23.   - OS
  24.   I don't see a stock, only the folding mechanism for attaching one?   (Granted that also possessing the stock component even unattached "in close proximity" would require having a legal useful purpose for it.)   - OS
  25.   The US legal system is quite fair -- each person gets the full measure of justice he can afford. ;)   - OS
