Yeah, plus run you ragged on short hauls and difficult deliveries, more deadhead, whatever, to where you spend much more time than average for the total mileage payment coming in. Then you find you have to basically stay out there all the time to meet the nut. Stuff that a normal leased owner operator wouldn't put up with, but since the company has you by the balls on the truck payments, you swallow it or walk, and if you do that you further ruin your credit to where even another sleazeo company might not finance you one, not to mention your credit rating in general. Prime, btw, used to mostly haul refrigerated stuff, which for various reasons seem to require a lot of deliveries in the wee hours of the morning, so your Circadian sleep rhythm might take a beating if that's still the case and that's what you wind up doing. - OS

Can assure you that if you do decide to buy a truck you do not want to finance it through an over the road trucking company and especially one who you're contracting to work for. Prime and many others make a lot of their money selling trucks. And reselling them as their drivers fail. The only reason they can rope folks in is because they'll do it for folks with crummy credit who can't get one any other way. The payments and pay will work out such that at best you'll run your heart out for years and come out of it with a free and clear decrepit truck that you'll then need to throw a pile of money back in to keep running. - OS

There are no such provisions specified whatsoever. "SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 39-17-1307, is amended by deleting subsection (e) in its entirety and substituting instead the following: (e) (1) It is an exception to the application of subsection (a) [illegal possession] that a person is carrying or possessing a firearm or firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle if the person: (A) Is not prohibited from possessing or receiving a firearm by 18 U.S.C. § 922(g) or purchasing a firearm by § 39-17-1316; and ( B ) Is in lawful possession of the motor vehicle (2) As used in this subsection: (A) “Motor vehicle†has the same meaning as defined in § 55-1-103. ( B } “Motor vehicle†does not include any motor vehicle that is: (i) Owned or leased by a governmental or private entity that has adopted a written policy prohibiting firearms or ammunition not required for employment within such a motor vehicle; and (ii) Provided by such entity to an employee for use during the course of employment." (existing subsection e is the various mess about loaded chamber for permit holders and proximity of ammo to unloaded gun for others) - OS

Well, must admit would never have though of that aspect. I see most just do a para cord type thing, though, which would seem to be of limited benefit, excpet of course to have some extra paracord with you: This one looks quite "functional" though!: - OS

Very nice looking hacker and slasher. And the hole in the ricasso is for ... ? - OS
-
Will be largely unavailable proprietary $50 mags I guess? ;) - OS
-
Anyone not prohibited from owning firearms by state or federal law may have loaded firearm(s) in private vehicle, round in chamber okay. - OS
-
Reckon they'll start delaying folks to run NICS checks if they're "suspicious"? - OS
-
Me too. I consider it the biggest stride toward any kind of constitutional carry since having a loaded gun became a crime in the first place. - OS

Ain't gonna carry any weight in 5 more days as far as vehicle. Why should cop care any more? - OS

Did Everything Weapons in Franklin sell me a used gun as new?
Oh Shoot replied to wtl's topic in General Chat
Not sure what the exact rule is re FFL. A manufacturer can replace a firearm with one with diff serial number at any time without doing official transfer, can ship directly to you. Not all will though, as I found out with an ATI Omni AR-15 lower replacement. - OS -

Have to do another 4473 at that point for the new gun, AFAIK. I don't think it's the same as a factory replacement if done by FFL? - OS -
Knives are still mentioned specifically in the school statute and if charged, you are going armed just by virtue of having it on you -- unless you can get to a higher TN court to possibly have it overturned and to set some future case law. Oh yeah, and it will be a separate felony charge to use a switchblade in a crime. I'm telling all my criminal friends to be sure and use a bowie when they stick up the quickie marts to avoid possibility of that. - OS

In the book, I believe the only example of that happening over a barrier was in the Israeli situation, though it also happens to some extent on battlefields where they pile up as they are killed. But all more slowly -- the Fast Zed Syndrome was added for the flick. In the already nonsensical "logic" of Zombieism, it really makes little "sense" that a reanimated corpse would be faster than it was in real life after all. In 28 Days After and 28 Weeks After, they aren't really zombies, but just living people infected by the rage virus. - OS

I hear moronic crap most every day, just not that particular one yet. :) - OS

TN permit covers only handguns carried on the person, hence the name Handgun Carry Permit. Does not apply to any other firearm, weapon, or device, before or after the new knife carry law (or more properly, the new lack of knife carry law). On July 1 anyone, even a convicted felon, may carry any knife. Also on July 1, anyone not prohibited from owning firearms may possess any loaded firearm in private vehicle. - OS

Very common for them simply not to be scanned at all at any given stop, especially so for classes other than Priority. I've had packages come all the way from left coast and the first scan to show would be at main PO right here in town. If you do a lot of shipping in or out, and watch tracking, you'll see all kinds of weird stuff with USPS. FedEx/UPS is more consistent, but not totally immune either. - OS
-
USPS Priority "2 day" and "3 day" are just estimated, not guaranteed of course. Marketing monicker as much as anything. - OS

Yep, if that's okay couldn't we have a WNBA team called the Squaws ? - OS

Yeah, book is cool in that you can read each "report" in 5-10 minute sessions. That is, like you say, if you can limit yourself to that. ;) - OS

I'll get it to ya. - OS

Advantage of using your free ISP webspace (I use Comcast) is that folks can't go to that directory and see anything else in it. Also, since I never post a photo without editing it in some form or other, the "save for web" feature of most photo editors these days will strip out all EXIF info. Of course, I'm working from actual computer, and not mobile device, so I realize that is quite different. - OS
