Any baton training classes in Chattanooga
Oh Shoot replied to Junkstack's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
First of all, batons and slapjacks are not banned weapons as switchblades were (and knuckles still are), just illegal to go armed with them without the training certificate, as they are "clubs". However, even the possession of the banned weapons switchblade and knuckles ownership at home was/is simple, as legal exception is per "the person's conduct was relative to dealing with the weapon solely as a curio, ornament or keepsake" - OS -
Has anyone actually bought something through Appreciate your research, really. Still hard to believe they'd be that out of the loop, especially with all the communication they must have had with the county/city/state to get licensed for the TN brick and mortar, but maybe so. Definitely no tax shown on website up to the final click to confirm order though -- I'm still wondering if they haven't done something with the business structure of the Sevierville store to avoid legally having to pay it for online purchases though (or at least think they have). - OS Edit, just found this from 8 hours ago on the Sevierville store FB page from a Bud's employee, FWIW: "Joe Murphy There is no sales tax for TN purchases online. Not sure who told Mr. Cornett that, but that is incorrect. Buds TN is a different entity than Budsgunshop.com. There will be a transfer fee for online purchases shipped to the TN location but no sales tax."

Yeah, lots of people like them on any type AR, but for sure with any kind of short LOP they are the bomb. Pretty sure I'd like one on my pistol that was actually completely vertical. - OS

Suspected, hence the winkie poo. :) - OS

Nothing more ephemeral than a single federal judge's decision. Didn't even take a higher level one to put it on hold until appeal. - OS

Fed Court Overturns "Docs vs. Glocks" Injunction
Oh Shoot replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Wanna try that one again? - OS -
Well, carry in any national parks is dependent on the laws of the state in which it resides. Since DC is not a state, I don't see that the law applies to any national park boundaries within DC period. - OS

I definitely see both sides and agree that as with many issues, the US is a study in contrasts. While some states loosen firearm freedom, some go the other extreme. Federal court rulings, sans finalizing by SCOTUS, are almost all ephemeral, and even SCOTUS decisions are as narrow as possible. Hence why Heller wasn't applied to the states, and even in McDonald, which was, there were no parameters incorporated -- states can still apply draconian measures regarding licensing to such an extent that there is almost still a de facto ban on ownership for the average person. Not to mention banning of types of firearms, regulating mag capacity, and etc. As far as the "bearing" side of the equation, McDonald didn't address it, though it could have. It will probably come down to interpretation of the "militia" part of 2A. McDonald ruling agreed that ownership is an individual right whichever way the "militia" part may be interpreted, but the individual right to "bear" might swing the other way, being seen as only relevant to being part of a militia action. The original National Firearm Act has had challenges that have been argued both ways on that, for example. Who knows. And though I'm hopefully wrong, I can only see SCOTUS leaning if not bending over backwards to limit firearms rights over the next 25 or more years as liberal judges replace the marginally conservative ones on there now. It is instructive to remember that both Heller and McDonald squeaked by 5 to 4. - OS

Oh, whether it's an easy mod like I think or a difficult kludge as you do, I'm pretty sure that when they are required to start collecting sales tax, their shopping cart will add it. I don't see them thumbing their nose at TN tax requirements from day one. - OS
-
Actually, I'd think that quite unlikely .. they've had a year or whatever to prepare. And likely the tax option is built into interface for the shopping cart software, just as I can change my tax options for any state on my eBay sellers account. - OS

Find a Smith Scandium .357 to shoot five rounds from. Every other revolver will seem like a pussy cat ever after. - OS

If indeed you can buy online without the tax right now, suggests they may have gotten a deferral for a period of time ala Amazon. Or perhaps there's even a delay written into the TN tax code for all I know. - OS

Well, from ATF: "a licensee may sell a rifle or shotgun to a person who is not a resident of the State where the licensee's business premises is located in an over-the-counter transaction, provided the transaction complies with State law in the State where the licensee is located and in the State where the purchaser resides." - OS

Handgunlaw.US needs our support

Thanks for the reminder. The most reliable resource regarding state firearm laws on the web. Threw a Jackson his way, will consider more later.. - OS -
Oh, no doubt. The majority of folks coming in will at least be able to walk out with a long gun of some kind or other. I don't even know how FFLs handle all the various limitations regarding contiguous state purchase only, "assault weapons", and hicap mags for folks from some other states and etc. - OS
-
Only TN residents can take possession of handguns directly there though. Also of course, various restriction with long guns and mags for folks of some states. - OS
-
Well, you make my point. Most Tennesseans aren't able to pop over to Sevierville when they want a certain gun, so they'll be paying the web price plus FFL transfer, and now plus sales tax. - OS
-
Yep, unless you're using an expensive FFL for transfer, you're gonna pay more in sales tax than the transfer fee for most all firearms. And it becomes a double whammy to do it online. - OS
-
Anyone willing to jump through the registration hoops can legally own a gun in DC. This was about carrying them outside the home. - OS

Nonetheless, a pedestrian jaywalking doesn't give you the license to execute him with your car. ;) - OS

Hence the addition of Eugene, if he doesn't turn out to be just a lunatic nerd. - OS

Free Rifle Bag with SB15 Pistol Stabilizing Brace
Oh Shoot replied to whiterx's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Nah, they hold it a while after the 3 attempts before shipping it back. Not sure how long with FedEx Ground -- UPS holds it a week. Should be same length of time as if you request hold at FedEx location, whatever that length of time is. - OS -
They've been gone from the prison for 8 episodes already. - OS
