  1.   Reports I've heard stated that reason there's no vaccine for any of the hemorrhagic fevers is that the opposite is true -- Big Pharma doesn't see a payoff to even recoup the R and D to create them. Quite isolated outbreaks in poor parts of the world, where individuals and governments wouldn't have the bucks to pay for the thing if they developed it. Remember, this is the biggest Ebola outbreak of all time, and it's only killed less than 800. More people likely routinely die of starvation and bad water in those areas over same time period than that.   One guy said could probably have a vaccine in as little as 2-3 years but only if government threw the money at it, because Big Pharma won't.   - OS
  2.   Right you are.   Not sure why I even wrote the word, it's not in the statute. Guess I was thinking "sunshine law" applied to city and county council meetings, silly me.   - OS
  3.   It's actually less lethal than the usual though, but of course 65% or so is still pretty bad odds and all.   - OS
  4. How do you have less than $5 to spend? They changed the minimum to 5 clams for the quarter good while ago.   Oh, thinking,  I bet that's leftover from a $5 or more total you earned and you've already used some?   - OS
  5.   Only thing not accurate is that in neither case could/can a city or county "pass a new law". They must simply pass a public resolution to opt out of 39-17-1311 if they wish to prohibit carry on rec property.   - OS
  6. Didn't know there were any mystery AKs being imported. Without me having to search, even the country of origin is not really known?   - OS
  7.   And again, you have two choices, file a complaint to the department or a civil rights suit. One's free and easy and one ain't.   Maybe a third choice, which would be to get news coverage and perhaps involve interest with ACLU or somebody who would pay for a suit.   - OS
  8.   Them dogs never tell the truth on the witness stand neither.   - OS
  9. Btw, you try your Ace Hardware guy? Been surprised at the range of machine screws some of them have. Plus the screw in sizing board to check what ya have.   - OS
  10.   So you stick to your "right", and then the cop may feel he then has reasonable suspicion to mess with you more. Can make for a miserable evening. And unless you have deep enough pockets to go for a civil rights suit, your only practical recourse is to file a complaint with the department, which of course will almost certainly see it as a quite trivial matter indeed.   Or you could simply show him your ID and tell him why you're walking up the friggin road. Hell, he might offer you a ride home.   - OS
  11. Will longer ones really serve? Meaning, they can't extend below bottom wall of receiver or they bind the bolt.   - OS
  12. Poor feller, the powers that be wouldn't even let his thread title change stay. ;)   Heck, dude, go ahead and marry her. Some say a nasty divorce or three builds character. Maybe at least one of you can benefit that way.  :)   - OS
  13.   Yeah, I read The Hot Zone too. All those hemorrhagic fever diseases are truly nasty.    And certainly microbes do "evolve", hence the super resistant strains of staph and strep, so I suppose anything is possible.   I remember hearing some medical researcher at a conference I was shooting way back in the early AIDS days ... he was talking about how if a common virus like that of the common cold could pick up the Immunodeficient factor, it would indeed be the doomsday bug. You'd simply get a cold that you just couldn't shake which would eventually wear ya down til you croaked.   Obviously hasn't happened. Yet.   - OS
  14.   Well, I can clear that part up. A cop has a right to ask you any question.   - OS
  15.   Unless it can mutate into airborne infection mode or find widespread intermediate carrier host,  Ebola is a poor candidate for a pandemic.   - OS
  16.   "Available" in that folks who check several stores most every day occasionally find some now.   Even I lucked out on a 325 round box at Academy down there in Brainerd last week. First bulk box I've found since Sandy Hook. My heart was all aflutter.  Also got a couple of 50 round boxes couple of days later, and have only found 4 of those over same time period.   The odds of actually finding the exact type/brand you want is still as remote as ever, however.   - OS
  17.   Well, statute wording indicates that completing an acceptable training class would allow you to carry any "club", which would include your sap.   - OS
  18.   Yeah, I'd be fine with that -- can't imagine why Stark doesn't feature that prominently with the product, duh.   - OS

WASRs have been $485-550 shipped last few months, haven't looked around today. The various PAP rifle configs around $575-600.   - OS
  20.   The 26" pistol/VFG is a recent niche ruling, in 2011. No overall definitions changed, just a narrow exception to AOW classification.   - OS
  21. I myself wouldn't be too comfy with that one sans a specific approval letter regarding use on < 26" pistol. The angle is one thing, but it's also more of a standard grip shape than the Magpul AFG genre. - OS
  22.   Note to newbies: make sure you have 30mm scope barrel, not the more common 1 inch.  Guess you could use a reducer though .. YMMV depending on which brand seems.   - OS

Thanks, Kiwi Cordovan shoe polish wax :). Did same on a M92 PAP: The top pic is the color they come unfinished as yours was I guess .. didn't change it, just used Formby's Tung Oil Finish (not same as pure tung oil at all). - OS

WASRs are also coming with nice solid wood stocks now, instead of the laminated plywood stuff. My two: - OS

All indications are they've made big improvement with their own processes, and apparently somehow sobered up some of the folks on lines in other countries, particularly the Romanians with the WASR.   - OS
