  1.   Notice it gets it's extra length of pull from offsetting the brace back off the end of the tube, does not fit flush with it. Can tell you that folks seem to like the way it looks in shape but give the storage thing a meh.   So you get the extra length with the KAK tube and the brace sits flush. Of course you can get even more LOP by using the KAK spacers to offset the brace with it also if you like, and will been even longer LOP than the HEX.   - OS
  2. Nobody has been able to get a SB15 over a carbine buffer tube.   You'll have to grind tube down or just get a pistol tube. Some of the standard pistol tubes will barely go on, and will stretch out the brace to where it is unusable on any other tube, btw.   Of course the KAK ones made for the brace will also give you about 1.5" more LOP too. Two or three other similar ones being made now also. Phase 5 has one where the brace is recessed off the end some and accommodates a little plug in storage unit, etc.   - OS
  3.   I wouldn't bet the farm. Various states already have banned SBR, SBS, AOW, suppressors, .50 BMG rifles, high cap mags, and various ammo for a long time,  there's your precedent maybe.   All comes down to what the courts decide the "meaning of is is".   - OS

  5.   Maybe, maybe not. Even though AR15 and AK47 are of course are among the most common rifles both in US and world wide, note that even Scalia on the Supremes has opined in Heller and elsewhere that certain weapons may be prohibited under 2A.   So I suppose the battle will ultimately be over which, not if. As always, the devil in the details, and of course the Supremes always rule as narrowly as possible when they get something in their hands.   The bad part of all this is that the narrow 5/4 majority that decided Heller and McDonald, without a GOP majority in the Senate in '15 and/or a Republican president in '17 will soon tilt the other way, and likely for a long time.   - OS
  6. Always sad to see the passing of these silver screen legends I grew up with. Bacall was a cut above most.   Robin's demise was especially sad though, he would have had any number of great years left in which to wow us. He'd had been an outta sight old fart.   - OS
  7. There are     FireFox runs into the occasional script it doesn't like too, but it does alert you after maybe 15 seconds, gives you a chance to ignore it and carry on.   - OS
  8.   Maybe 150 vendors with stuff spread over maybe 300 six foot tables and stacked up behind them, on walls, everywhere.  New guns, old guns, ammo, reloading, every kind of firearm accessory you can imagine., Plus a hundred folks walking around and hanging out outside wanted to buy/sell/swab personal firearms.   About 10 percent "other", quite a few knife sellers, and folks selling everything from jerky to jewelry.   Definitely a must see for furriners who can't go to anything remotely like it back home. :)   - OS
  9.   If that Sport is the first iteration with the 5R 1:8 barrel, it's already a cut above the average 16", so you'd have to bump up a good bit with config to significantly improve things in that regard.   - OS
  10. Sigh.   He would have made a great old man, likely staying as iconoclastic as ever. A whole new range of memorable roles where still in front of him for many years.   I'll miss him for sure.   - OS
  11.   So just do it, eh?   - OS
  12.   That's what Dave said.   - OS
  13.   Federally, only if felony was for a "crime of violence", and that excepted if used in employment. Not a crime under TN law apparently.     Just some crimes under TN law. Dunno if a separate crime under federal law, never found anything about that?   - OS
  14.   Yup, you pretty much have to trust who sells you the barrel and bolt control group. An in spec barrel extension and BCG determines the headspace. And assembling your own barrel extension takes some real equipment and expertise beyond most of us.   - OS
  15. Not really what you are thinking of, but steadying out an AR or AK pistol on a one point sling is pretty common, especially the AK since unless you modify them, no buffer tube to lay alongside cheek as third point of contact. Though I shoot one AR pistol with Sig Brace now and another with buffer tube alongside cheek, I have been using a one point sling to steady down an AK pistol I picked up not long ago: - OS
  16.   Thanks, I had forgotten all about the GINA thing.   - OS
  17. Seems would have to be Bill unless he really steps on his goober during second term, average joe doesn't even know who Beth Harwell is, eh?   - OS
  18.   Just wait for the legal battles over DNA testing once it becomes cheap.   - OS

I think the idea is that with right thickness crush washer you can catch the detente position and have it tight.   - OS

Doesn't it have detente that keeps it from unscrewing? If so how many groove options for the detente to sit in?   Meaning, if it uses normal AK convention for that, unlikely any would be tight since unlikely would come out right for detente/groove. Hell, I've got a flash hider that has 10 options for the detente, but none lined up for tight.   But yeah, a crush washer can usually get it both tight and aligned into groove.   - OS
  21.   Well, it's not just the Sentinel. Probably in all the Scripps papers. Author is Washington correspondent for the whole syndicate -- might have actually been designed as editorial originally, who knows.   - OS
  22. Still don't know if that's really definitive about starting with a pistol, though.   What about all the NFA registered Glock and Uzi SBRs out there that started as legally imported pistols with no US parts?  Not enough US made parts  to satisfy 922r even exist AFAIK.   - OS
  23.   Great deal. I got similar promotion with my first XD back when, but it was only two mags.   - OS
  24.   No 9mm at your Wallys? Quite a bit around most of them here, 4 or 5 choices I noticed down 'Nooga last week, had it all three times during the week I popped in, too.   Even had a 1200 round ammo can full.   - OS
  25. See whut I mean, Vern? Dol says he's seen the opposite. A simple search on the topic reveals many forum discussions pointing to various letters, none of which I've read seem truly definitive. My fave was some guy who called several different ATF field offices, and got "what's 922r" from them all. :) Btw, have decided on KISS treatment on mine. I like the idea of having a very compact .30 caliber bludgeon. Only things I changed were adding sling adapter and Eclipse flash hider, and blacking out the white stuff on the rear sight. Admittedly, a stock or brace opens up a whole other level of ergonomics and accuracy though -- and I might have gone full tilt boogie with mods, but I had already scratched that itch with AR pistol. Ya never know though, I might eventually succumb to it on this puppy too. :) - OS
