  1.   Yeah, I've got 6 or 10 myself, as I prefer 20 rounders in general, they've all been fine -- some typical reviews, current even:   http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/6-thermold-20-rd-mags-with-3-maglocks?a=1140625#reviewsTab   (and here's through TGO's favorite vendor :)):   http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/reviews/57870/0   - OS
  2. Long story on "Thermold". Got really bad rep when original license got ported to Canadian military and were made up there poorly by whoever for awhile before they dropped the whole thing and ceased production. These apparently still show up in surplus sales, and suck.   AFAIK, any of the ones that say Master Mold and/or Wilson, North Carolina on them should be "okay", but these straight walled Zytel 20 rounders have always been generally acknowledged as especially solid performers.   They likely can't stand up to same physical impact as a Magpul, but neither are they "fragile" by any means.   - OS
  3. Nah. That particular Zytel version is fine, though I've never paid more than just under $4 each for them. Here's same, for 4 cents more per mag if you want 6 and you're a SG member, and you get the maglocks too if that's your thing: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/6-thermold-20-rd-mags-with-3-maglocks?a=1140625 - OS
  4.   There is military paperwork that suffices in lieu of the class, he thought his qualified.   - OS
  5.   Well, I'm not all that keen on open carry. ;)   - OS
  6. I do believe I would have asked various folks who passed by in the hall to please send someone up to help out rather than running around the hotel nekkid, but that's just me.   - OS
  7.   Ah, well, glad it was something simple. Nothing that another $50-100 and 8 hour class won't fix. :)   - OS
  8.   Road to hell is paved with what?  What's best to do with sleeping dogs?   Fact is, congrats for their decision = de facto support for gun carry.    Folks post on forums to send thanks for that = more people seeing that, posting same on other forums and send "thanks"   Which leads to the opposition noticing and sending in opposite view = polarizing correspondence battle, likely a Starbucks type boycott effort from the antis.   Which eventually leads to more direct expression = antis picketing and pros open carrying. With our luck maybe the Open Carry Texas cretins will jump in too.   Then eventually Kroger will have to make a more stringent official policy, and then boycott effort from the pros.   It's an old story, can have no better outcome for our side than the current policy.   (not that a few posts on TGO will cause it alone, just how these things seem to work in general)   - OS
  9.   According to everything I've read, that is correct. IL state sites like the state police have had that in FAQs which I've read, but seems they've decided to keep it quieter now, links I had are dead, even some internal links on IL state police site are now invalid. Typical of IL obfuscation, seems.  But there are plenty of other references. One of beau coup at random:   "The new law doesn't contain a reciprocity provision, meaning Missouri concealed-carry permits and those of other states won't allow carrying in Illinois unless the holder also obtains an Illinois permit. However, the law does contain a "drive-through" provision that allows licensed carriers from other states to travel through Illinois with their guns kept in their vehicles without getting an Illinois license."   http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/concealed-carry-ushers-in-new-era-for-illinois/article_57bb4047-284b-55e9-81e5-bb274f5a06bc.html   Remember, my legal advice is always worth what you've paid for it. :)   However, FOPA is quite clear regarding the unloaded firearm transportation requirements for merely passing through.     edit: here's an official "state.il.us" web address reference,  published by GOP part of the senate there: http://www.senategop.state.il.us/Portals/0/Concealed-Carry/13%20Concealed%20Carry%20Report.pdf   "Non Residents are allowed to transport a concealed firearm within their vehicle without a permit, provided they have a valid out-of- state permit. If the vehicle is left unattended, the firearm must either be in a locked container or the vehicle must be locked."   - OS
  10.     My opinion, that is exactly the kind of response that will help foment the Starbucks type of firearm "activism" being mentioned here in thread, which might eventually tip their decision to ask firearm carriers to conceal, at the least. I'm sure Kroger execs would prefer the entire subject to simply go away, not receive more attention, from either side.   - OS
  11.   I'd do it if it were in Knoxville.   Heck, I'd sign on for yours in 'Nooga, as I'm down there about every other month for a week, but dates are never firm ahead of time.   - OS
  12. Illinois law has changed since these brosh     1. With the new permit law in IL, things have changed in IL, brochure doesn't seem to reflect that.   "(e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident:         (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law;         (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under  the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and         (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act.     If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection ( b ) of Section 65 of this Act. (Source: P.A. 98-63, eff. 7-9-13; 98-600, eff. 12-6-13.)"   2. Also, of course, the federal "safe passage" part of FOPA still applies as long as you are just passing through IL, and only stopping for gas/food, not sightseeing or stopping overnight.   "18 U.S. Code § 926A - Interstate transportation of firearms   Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console."     - OS
  13. Doubt if Sessions would have a clue. I'd start by calling TNDOS handgun permit division and tell 'em what's up, see what they tell you. See if you can get to the cheese there, Lisa Knight. (615) 251-8590   These are usually because of some previous charge that doesn't show a proper disposition, can be quite minor one, can even be from a charge that was dropped but doesn't show it officially, etc,   but you say there are none at all, so no idea, could simply be a mistake on form or class certificate or prints didn't make the trip, who knows.   Check didn't bounce did it? ;)   - OS
  14.   Hell, that could be the reason. Permit holders have to notify TNDOS when their address changes, maybe background check found you don't live there anymore or something and the mismatch kicked it out. Did you notify of change of address on DL?   - OS
  15. Excellent, couldn't get there by clicking through on the other, this link will go full size with a click. Yeah, looks fantastic, the grain really is eye catching, you should definitely be proud of it.
  16. Looks great far as I can tell, need bigger pic than 640 pixel to really see detail, though.   - OS
  17.   Yup, my first choice for pocket carry years ago, have never had any reason to look further. Still nothing with 6+1 9mm capacity any smaller.  Amazing recoil dampening too, some kind of voodoo apparently.   - OS
  18.   No different from long gun. One is forbidden to acquire any firearm in personal transaction outside his own state and bring it or have it delivered back into his own.   - OS
  19.   Just cock it for the first shot. ;)
  20. I always like a real game, but for Vole fans I guess it was good it wasn't really a Thrilla in Knoxvilla.   - OS
  21. I just checked in thinking you might have a herd of them you actually needed droving to somewhere: - OS
  22. I'll buck the tide -- wouldn't much care about having a full auto anything.  I guess a three round burst AR would be rather cool, and perhaps even "practical" after the Big Crash, but full auto, nah.   edit: Well,  then again maybe just one AK with a drum,  in case I needed to do the "kill everyone in the room at the poker game" type thang. ;)   - OS
  23.   I forgot about that. But I'll let my prejudice show through and say .. I don't believe I could carry a Taurus cocked and locked.   - OS
  24.   I hear people saying "who's Utah State?"   I well remember "what's a Rutgers"?  ;)   - OS
  25.   Yeah, they abbreviate Accokeek on the pistols. So they may abbreviate "Gallatin" too, who knows.     All guns have to by federal law, domestic and imported ones. You do too, when you "manufacture" your SBR and whatnot. - OS
