I have a trainer for baton cert in Chattanooga
Oh Shoot replied to Junkstack's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Oh, didn't realize it was for sure set date .... looks like I won't be down there till 19-20th at the earliest, thanks anyway. - OS -
My prob with it is simply getting around on anyone's page. It's just not set up logically enough to find anything, always seems like a random day to day experience. Maybe that's the attraction for some, it being so "immediate" only, but not for me. So I never cared about creating my own, or really following anyone else there ... guess I'm more attuned to a blog format than a FB one. - OS

Iconoclastic comedians by nature offend x number of folks x part of the time, from Lenny Bruce to Redd Foxx to George Carlin to Andrew Dice Clay to ... etc. Joan was both mainstream and edgy, depending on venue. Uncensored she was often in the "too soon?" moment, and got her share of groan responses from the audience. But like she'd say, F ya if ya can't take a joke, and don't buy a ticket. ;) - OS

Question about AK's and Tec's
Oh Shoot replied to Camaro_nut2001's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Nope. Any firearm that begins life as a handgun may be legally made into a legal length rifle. And then even go back and forth. Only firearms that begin life as a rifle must stay a rifle (without a stamp). - OS -
I have admired her since I first got to know her as Carson's "permanent guest host". Like Robin Williams, truly a "force of nature". Her uncensored acts had a strong thread of complete disdain of hypocrisy, everyone was fair game for ridicule, including her own self, I think I liked that best about her. - OS

Just make it a legal non-NFA carbine: - OS -
Because Bush and Cheney pulled the wool over everyone's eyes, and if they couldn't do that they strong-armed them; and the kicker was they did both to Colin Powell, whose UN testimony tipped the balance on The Hill. His whole report was a shameful exercise in hurriedly-compiled and revised half truths at best and outright lies at worst. He at the least strongly suspected it was bogus at the time, knew it was afterwards, and has recanted it since; and is the reason his political career ended. - OS

Kahr is 1.15-1.2 " at widest point including slide stop on one side and small part of slide stop pin that protrudes on the other. Dunno about slide stop, but a bit hard to believe SIG is counting the safety in its width too, but maybe so. - OS

Well, Dubya's dick was main reason we went into Iraq in the first place, so I'm not exactly keen on purely testosterone based government policy. - OS

You can't stop individual content very easily, no. Certainly as long as peer to peer protocol exists, not possible at all. I was just commenting that it wouldn't be that difficult to nuke all access period. Of course when that happens, you'll know Brave New World has arrived, and incremental steps in between should of course be fought tooth and nail. - OS

I don't know if you'd call Kadyrov a "world leader". I imagine one of his primary jobs, like the rest in that region, is to "work with" Putin to allow Chechnya to keep its borders. Putin himself is not prone to very much verbal posturing, we'll probably know his feelings more by his actions -- sending the attack choppers is perhaps a first little hint. - OS

Chechnya (and Kadyrov) are Sunni Muslim too, and you sure don't hear this sort of thing much from many others of note. Note though, that typically, the US is blamed, that ISIS is "saying only what their masters in the West's security services were telling them to say." - OS

Well, don't think there's anywhere near a trillion computers in the world of any type, even counting smart phones, but anyway you don't have to shut down individual servers to zap or limit content within a country, you just need control over the exchange points of the major pipes. Even satellite transmission is worthless without the terrestrial gateways, which could also be controlled. - OS

All the hunting must have scared more of them into the urb than usual. Though they are here year round, would be particularly easy pickings the last week or so. Prob is, if I shoot them with pellet gun, I break state hunting law. And Knoxville law too, but rather quietly. ;) - OS

Perhaps the rumor milled cranked up based on FaceBook and eBay problems over last 24 hours? eBay: http://insidepulse.com/2014/09/03/ebay-hacked-1000s-of-accounts-deleted-auctions-vanished-millions-lost/ FaceBook: http://www.ibtimes.com/why-facebook-down-twitter-users-react-social-media-crash-1677718 - OS

Yeah, one rib on each side, pretty much like a Magpul as follower tracks, with no more anywhere else. They are more smoothly contured than Magpul though, about the same as metal GI 20 rounders, but without the other two ribs on the back half. I've put one aside to lay on ya to try, never know, they might work great for that. - OS
-
Being the low speed high drag guy I am, I'd have more Magpul 20 rounders, but they always cost more than their 30's for whatever reason. - OS

Now, I agree they tend to be good saws, but Stihl was only founded in 1926 and I don't for a minute believe you're that old either. ;) - OS

Well, it will be for a week, either last of this month or first week of Oct. or combo of the two. I will indeed touch bases with ya, will certainly join in if it coincides. I probably wouldn't really regularly do it, but would love the "right" to carry a sap if I wanted to. I assume this would provide the necessary credential as per 39-17-1308 then? - OS
