  1.   Well, I'm sure disorderly conduct gets used a lot locally for lack of anything else. But a decent defense lawyer could generally deflect it in cases where it really can't be proven to have bothered or caused alarm to others.   And of course, it would become a minor media circus with Kwik, and I suppose they're aware of that.     TN's basic disorderly conduct statute:   "39-17-305.  Disorderly conduct.   (a) A person commits an offense who, in a public place and with intent to cause public annoyance or alarm:    (1) Engages in fighting or in violent or threatening behavior;    (2) Refuses to obey an official order to disperse issued to maintain public safety in dangerous proximity to a fire, hazard or other emergency; or    (3) Creates a hazardous or physically offensive condition by any act that serves no legitimate purpose. ( b ) A person also violates this section who makes unreasonable noise that prevents others from carrying on lawful activities. (c) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor."     - OS
  2.   I'd think carrying the long gun around might closer fit conditions of the statute than cursing the officers would.   Since TN starts with premise that carrying a loaded firearm is unlawful, I think all this brouhaha over "reasonable suspicion", "Terry Stop", and the rest of it would be shot down in the court system.   Given the law of this state, the fact you are carrying a long gun would seem to be reasonable enough cause to detain one long enough to ensure it is not loaded. After all, it's perfectly fine to detain you long enough to check for permit if they see a handgun on you, eh?    I'm surprised they haven't done more of that here and there with the Texas nuts, but I'm not familiar with the various legal basis of firearm stuff in those other states.   - OS
  3. I did FedEx Ground in PF for a couple of years ... since I'm not an auto nut, I wouldn't drive down there on a Car Day for less than three or four bills now, either!   - OS
  4.   The bloom came off that rose purt durn quick I must say.  ;)   - OS
  5.   The point is, the carry permit gives you special considerations to carry at all, both here and in Texas. LEOs get more consideration in both states.   "Everyone is equal, but some are more equal than others".   You're more equal than the public at large, and a LEO is more equal than you. ;)   - OS
  6. He should go back and do his walk at Belle Meade City Hall, where he is already so well known and loved.   - OS
  7. Very nice, Sonny. Probably will do similar with mine eventually, but thinking of using US Machinegun grip mounted adapters to use folding AR buffer tube and SB15 brace instead of just the SB47 brace. Like this, except with pistol buffer tube and SB15 brace, so it stays non-NFA. edit: and btw, this thread shouldn't be in Long Guns. :) - OS

    Bipod on an AR15?

Mine two or three are different "no name" versions off eBay, all have been fine. Are adjustable for tension on the nut on end. I use a similar riser only type for QD of a vertical forward grip on my AR "pistol/firearm" also. ~$15 from US sellers, half that from the PRC ones. - OS edit: fuzzy crops to show: bipod: VFG:

    Bipod on an AR15?

I have several of the ones from Wally's, including the current "Blackhawk" version, and one Harris basic non-panning one on ARs and 10/22s. Function virtually identical, cheapos have held up fine. Panning ability is what puts you into whole 'nother price range. Use a QD rail adapter, and comes on and off in a jiffy for convenience: - OS
  11. Did you use SSN on the 4473? If so, then reason is almost always because some charge doesn't show proper disposition, whether it were a disqualifying one or not.   Do you have HCP? Reason I ask is because likely same glitch would have surfaced with background check for it.   And btw, that "patron state of shooting stuff" is significantly overblown, coined by Stephen Hunter after all, and he's from Kansas. ;)   - OS
  12.   Well, that and/or other features.   But I think you're right, was thinking of the ban on all semi-auto rifles that accept a detachable magazine. It passed legislature but amazingly, Moonbeam vetoed it, so didn't become law. I hadn't kept up on that, mea culpa.   - OS
  13.   I could be wrong. Think I've seen them mentioned on forums as having done it in past, but can't verify and their website doesn't say so -- might also have them mixed up with Center Industries.   Good mags regardless, certainly "USGI spec" or better.   - OS
  14.   In the practical sense, not sure that an individual owner has ever been prosecuted or much less convicted of a 922r charge since it was enacted.   Possession of a non-conforming firearm is not even an offense btw, although I guess you'd maybe lose the gun.Only doing the non-conforming modification itself is unlawful. I can see that a lot of detail work would have to go into prosecution for many guns to prove origin of parts and who did what to it when.   Maybe not so hard if you're the only owner and converted an imported gun to registered SBR though. ;) But in practical sense again, there are plenty of imported firearms that get SBRed, probably most of them ain't 922r complaint, and would be a ready made pool for ATF to dive into if they really wanted to.   - OS

    Knoxville area?

Norris is the way to go if you shoot much, well worth the drive up there when you have the extra time to spare. Plus you get 200 yard option.   $40/year, and now's a good time to join, you get until June 30 for that.   - OS
  16. Oh, that's probably just Blake's mad off the grid skills. ;) - OS
  17. Still needs at least the bullet button type mag release in Kali, though.   - OS
  18.   AFAIK, any C-product stuff is still as good as ever. They're just one of the many sources that have or have had GI contracts to make them in the past.   Matter of fact, I've never had any aluminum mag fail that claimed to be GI spec,  even some old really crappy looking ones I bought for a song at  gun show. And regardless of what kind of follower was in them.   I have a number of those Brownell 20 rounders, all been fine.   - OS
  19. All else being equal, you won't get any significant diff between 1:7, 1:8, or 1:9 twist with 55 gr ammo, at least at 100 yards or less. Would be fractions of an inch if at all -- only a competition type shooter would much care. General rule of thumb: - OS
  20. Oh my, that's a big blow .. my sincere condolences big guy.    - OS
  21. Bersa, have you never wondered why you get double quotes in most of your posts?   - OS
  22.   Well, that's state code, not US, but yeah, it's the effective determiner.   I find the statement regarding the state law "and in the course of travel, shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances" as being ambivalent enough to be paranoia inducing.   Also there are the finer points of possessing hi-cap mags and/or hollow point ammo to consider.   - OS
  23.   I've had opposite experience. Have a cheapo CVS branded one, and it jibes pretty closely to two different docs I carried it to when I first got it.   It's the type that expands cuff automatically -- I did initially have one that you inflated by manual pumping, and it was quite erratic by comparison.   - OS
  24. I can't give you definitive answer     And note that 18 U.S. Code § 926A ("safe passage" part of FOPA) does not apply in OP's visit.   - OS
  25.   All of that is far different point of view than the purely counterfeited knives in your first post. There's a significant diff between "knock off/copy" and outright "counterfeit".   - OS
