Has to be unloaded and in locked case according the fed law. Or on private property within that 1,000 feet. Well, local jurisdictions can certainly arrest you, or at least detain you for a couple days or whatever it is currently, if they believe you are breaking federal law though, till the feds say yea or nay. - OS

Don't Congress Critters and judges too? And um, even Presidents? - OS

I've shot a lot of the Monarch .223 lacquered case steel and it's fine, highest FPS of 4 Russian rounds I did chrono on. AFAIK, all the Monarch lacquered steel calibers are rebranded Barnaul Brown Bear. - OS

Safe to say TMF doesn't look the same as back then either. ;) I still maintain the fantasy of Sophia Loren and Ava Gardner, and hell, one of them is dead! ;) - OS

Updated :: Mini Draco Install / Keymod Rail and SB15 Mounted
Oh Shoot replied to plank white's topic in Show and Tell
Doesn't. Simply says, "measured to rear-most portion of the weapon", and again AFAIK, nothing past the functional extent of the weapon has ever been considered part of that by ATF except stock or grip. As per the vid, we'll see, but the legally 26" or more as the "concealable" part was crucial to their re-defining the 26" AR pistol with VFG in the first place, so it still hinges on whether a buffer tube as opposed to a banana counts in OAL on a firearm that doesn't require either for operation. But best of luck with that, maybe he or you will set a new precedent, just wanted to make sure you were aware of possible ramifications before you starting lugging one around. :) - OS -
Seems if they want to play hardball, this new school thing with the Mosin would violate federal GFSZA ?? No locked container on that one, and permit wouldn't apply even if he had one. Tangential to thread topic, now most non-permit folks toting loaded guns in their vehicles within 1,000 feet are also in violation? - OS

G, strongly suggest you rethink that one. While it's not illegal to put most anything you want on the ass end of any firearm, no way a buffer tube on an AK type weapon is gonna count in legal OAL. It's not part of the "firearm", ie not part of the functional design of the weapon itself. AFAIK, nothing on the rear of a firearm past the "firearm" itself has ever been ruled to contribute to OAL except of course a stock assembly or grip. Same as sticking a banana on the end and saying that counts too. - OS -
I'd suggest the fact that we recognize all other states' permits figures into that also. AFAIK, we are the only state that does that? - OS

All that "policy" said, if you can print your own paid label, or have return tag, you can pack up a long gun or hand gun and drop at UPS Store, no questions asked. I've done both. As long as it's going to a licensee, federal law doesn't require notification. Yes, you are "violating" UPS Terms of Service. But the only violation they really seem to care about is sending something the wrong class, so make sure any handguns for which you're paying the fare go a form of overnight or it may get kicked back or even disappear totally. I can assure you this happens with FedEx Ground at least. Also, note that any violation of their TOS will likely cause either UPS or FedEx to deny any claim if indeed the shipment is damaged or "disappears" in the system, however small those odds are. - OS

Don't forget to paint end of barrel orange. - OS

Afraid I must opine that's rather lame. Plus hardly anyone will get it. - OS

Of course, all that would be negated here if he publicly opined that perhaps assault weapons should be banned, eh? - OS

Well, with a carry permit, it means it's no longer a felony. Myself, I find that relatively beneficial. Small chance of being expelled or fired is one thing, but I'd posit you'd take that over years in the state pen, eh? And in real world, I can't see that small chance happening unless you give a reason to look. - OS

No office, just a PO Box. No physical presence at all. Seems maybe just incorporated here, dunno how the mail actually works, BBB shows registered address as the UPS Store at Cedar Bluff. Operates numerous websites under different company names, real warehouse is apparently in Atlanta area. Interesting reads on Lucky Gunner, first one about the Aurora thing from good while ago, second one from our own Linoge's Walls of the City: http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2013/07/robert-farago/omg-aurora-shooter-got-his-ammo-from-lucky-gunner-omg/ http://www.wallsofthecity.net/?s=lucky+gunner&submit.x=0&submit.y=0 - OS -
Glad to see ya surface, Ben, was afraid maybe getting that barrel through customs had landed you and Ellie under the jail, I mean gaol! ;) We all had 'bout as good a time as you both did, always a treat seeing anyone get to shoot anything they've never been able to before, but especially for you folks, who don't even ever have the option period. Your looks of amazement at the show and grins at the range were priceless. Ellie was somewhat of a surprise, took to all of them like a duck to water, not the least recoil sensitive, an Annie Oakley trapped in the wrong country. :) Yep, you got the names right, and the guns, 'cept that big heater was Garufa's .44 magnum, the Dirty Harry heater. By all means, please post more pics or at least email them to me and I'll put 'em up. Thanks for checking in, great to hear from ya! - OS

I felt that way about my AR pistol too. But function over form won out, amazing to essentially double the accuracy. I expect to quadruple it on AK pistol, since it doesn't have third point of contact like the AR to begin with. It's fun to shoot it stretched out on sling and all, and it's certainly minute of man up to 50 yards, but that's about it, with my skills anyway. And really, that's just fine for that purpose, but since I don't have to run around blowing folks away at close quarters very often, I think being able to hit small tin cans instead of gallon jugs at same distance will be cooler. ;) - OS

Yeah, thinking of using the US Machinegun gun grip adapter that allows AR buffer tube to thread in, plus their folding adapter that screws into that. I want to keep it short for transport, plus I already have a nifty case for it and if doesn't fold it wouldn't fit. :) They sell both of those as one unit for a bit less, but not sure they are the same looking at their rather small pics, want to make sure that if the folding part ever gets too wonky to use, can at least chuck it and go straight into main one with tube. Haven't talked to them yet to pin it all down. I want to keep it simple install, easily removable, and non-NFA. Here's the primary adapter: http://usmachinegun.com/proddetail.php?prod=PAP-SAAR The folding addition (which uses castle nut to attach). http://usmachinegun.com/proddetail.php?prod=YGO-ARFLD And here's the "all in one", which looks like folding part doesn't use castle nut on the folding part to attach, but can't tell for sure: http://usmachinegun.com/proddetail.php?prod=M92AR-FOLD Only real gripe I seen using these is a cosmetic one, that the folding part, at least with the two piece method, isn't finished same as the primary adapter. - OS

Well, if so, apparently you will be among the first anywhere to get one, so we'll expect an extensive review, k? I'm wanting to put one on M92 AK pistola, holding off on hardware till the SBX is actually out there in the wild. :) - OS

Where? Pre-order or what? Do tell please! - OS

Yup all true. Limited quick search for feedback on Radical Firearms seems to be so far so good from users. - OS

You zapped cache, but didn't mention deleting cookies in FireFox on computer, and restarting FireFox, and logging back in. As you probably know, you can selectively zap cookies with FF, just select the TGO folder and zap whole folder, but ONLY that, otherwise you'll lose lots of other auto functions for other sites you may frequent. Seriously, deleting cookies has fixed many a TGO glitch through the years, and has been absolutely necessary at times with certain software changes on site depending on user system. - OS

80 year old NC gun registry law repealed
Oh Shoot replied to Hershmeister's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Appreciate the clarification ... added to the ole data tank, I mean bank. ;) The carry permit does serve in lieu of NICS check during actual purchase from FFL also, right? - OS -
Well, like peeing on an electric fence, bet you won't do that again, eh? ;) - OS
