Last couple of years were some kind of record for them nation wide. Haven't been as bad around the Knox urb as last year so far. Always been around during my 66 years, just not usually a bumper crop. - OS

ATF Approved POST 1986 MG on Form 1!!!!!!
Oh Shoot replied to mcordell's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Short of gun laws being repealed, FOPA was actually a good thing .. until the last minute when the machine gun part was thrown in. Read up on that, and especially how Charlie Rangel muscled it through with bogus voice vote and watch your blood pressure rise. - OS -

You've probably seen this, here's one with handstop and VFG. (owner has SBR stamp, not concerned about OAL): - OS -
?? Basic search for "clarksville, tn municipal code" finds: https://www.municode.com/library/tn/clarksville to specifically: https://library.municode.com/index.aspx?clientId=10557 Is also link off Clarksville's Home Page at: http://www.cityofclarksville.com Can't peruse it on dialup very fast, so didn't look into the issue in thread. - OS

No, was 9th Circuit -- federal appeals court covering about 9 states. Headquartered in Kali only, not a state court. Only reason I asked was 'cause occurred to me hadn't heard anything about it in some time, and can't dance around very well on dialup. Was hoping this would get appealed so would make it to Supremes. If it doesn't, it can't be incorporated to the whole country as I understand it, so no help in D.C. - OS

But you said you wanted to keep it as "handgun" ? Put an AFG or a hand stop on it. - OS -
Doesn't sound like anything to do with Troy/InRange at all, that's good. - OS

Sure, long as you can make the head shot -- but then, so will .22LR :) - OS

Yeah, open or concealed carrying the thing in "firearm" config you are technically breaking TN law, but concealed carry of it on person also loses the interpretative exemption from AOW status under federal law, and that's a much more serious rap. Before the TN law about firearms in vehicles changed, I actually always took the VFG off mine even for transport, as it only was lawful to have a loaded "handgun", "shotgun", or "rifle" in vehicle. But anyway, that's an issue most AR pistol folks don't even care about. Main thing to consider is what you expect from the 5.56/.223 round from short barrels, as the standard round suffers all the way down the line from the 20" barrel it was originally designed for. Can tell you that the 10.5" barrel loses about 300 fps compared to a 16", and the 7.5" is somewhere around 150 fps less than that. - OS

No it isn't, TCA code the same for "handgun, shotgun, or rifle". Unloaded, not concealed on or about the person, and no ammo in immediate vicinity. However, under GFSZA it's illegal to have any firearm unless both unloaded and in locked case. Unless maybe it's "not a firearm", like a 1890's Mosin. - OS

Gotcha. Well, whether it's "libs" or not the "politically correct" loss of the pipe is big. It (and the tat) were integral to the character. Heck, the pipe was an oft used prop, would could use it as a blowtorch and send smoke signals and whatnot. - OS

The link I posted not seem fairly definitive as to reason? I saw others that looked to have similar explanation, but on dialup right now so can't hop around very fast. - OS

He was still Bluto in the Robin Williams movie in 1980. - OS

Well, whatever that was really all about got squelched pretty well -- hope they didn't wind up shooting some innocent old coot. - OS

Thought you guys were simply wrong on the name, as I've always known Popeye's nemesis as Bluto. So a little research reveals the factoids where I learned something too: Popeye's nemesis was of course first named Bluto in the toons, and for the most part in most of them, except for a couple of years where he became named Brutus, really due to a legal misunderstanding, He was sometimes one or the other in the comic books after the 60's. Good explanation of this oddity: http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1548/is-popeyes-nemesis-named-bluto-or-brutus - OS

I consider WASR the Remmy 870 or Mossy 500 of the AK world. They just work. They seem to have sobered up the folks in Cugir and Vermont over the last year or more, as you seldom hear of the canted sights/blocks now, and the magazine well enlargement seems to be more consistent. They have also been configured with real solid wood stocks and handguns for some time now instead of the plywood. A late convert to AK world myself, I liked the first one so much I got another. At about the same price as a new Glock in hand, I consider them among the best bargains in gundom. And much more accurate than the average AR sycophant would have you believe. - OS

Thanks for info y'all, had no idea, obviously. - OS

Folding SB 47 or SB15 brace ?
Oh Shoot replied to Keyless's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
To my knowledge, there is nothing you can put on the ass end of a firearm that has ever been ruled unlawful except of course a stock in certain configs or a device that allows full auto fire. A folding adapter is no more unlawful to add to any firearm than a banana. I'll be doing a folding brace on an AK pistol at some point, sort of waiting for the SIG SBX to be released as that's the one I want to use. What actually counts in legal OAL is another discussion, though. - OS -
Boy they sure have. I ordered an upper 2 nights ago, got UPS email this morning. I'm out of town for a week, figured would take at least that, had to have it held at terminal, couldn't believe it. To be fair, this was a "clearance" config, so I'm sure already built, but still, we all have had to wait two weeks or more for stuff they didn't have to do anything with but put in a box and generate the label. Still no acknowledgement of order or shipping directly from PSA though, that seems to have gone away some time ago. - OS

Hell, Moras are cheap, use the hell out of it and don't worry. If you can kill it, get another. - OS
