Well, they did. Petty cash expenditures for specific military outfits I guess, like for 99 pistols. (guessing that 100 would have required different level of paperwork or something). - OS

Out of stock there, but Bud's online had last price of $562. Wow. - OS

Yes, was glitch in SIG's order processing system. Significant oopsie really. As Dolo says, you can see what your gun store is making off you, and what some government agencies and police depts bought and whatnot. Nothing too earthshaking national security wise or anything I don't guess, but embarrassing for a govt. contractor to let it get out surely. - OS

Maybe be the first on TGO to score the new Ruger AR556. Under 6 bills street price. http://ruger.com/products/ar556/images/main.jpg - OS

Best low cost pistol AR stripped lower currently?
Oh Shoot replied to Tobashadow's topic in Handguns
Never heard of a broken Glock frame from normal use, even from quite heavy abuse. However, there are MANY polymer AR lowers that have cracked to pieces with no abuse whatsoever. It's far from just an "opinion". https://www.google.com/search?q=broken+ar+polymer+lower&newwindow=1&client=firefox-a&hs=hEg&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&channel=sb&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=NwZDVMbAPJLDggTb2IKgBQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1446&bih=642 ps: I had an Omni break myself. Not catastrophically, but still cracked and piece of the takedown detent/spring channel broke out, exposing part of both of them. - OS -
Yeah, me too. Think I'll keep it for a while, rather interesting reading actually. ;) - OS

There's a really ironic ad on urging a no vote on the abortion amendment .. they use an example of a woman who chose to keep her baby even though she had just been diagnosed with cancer, as was her "choice". If you haven't seen it on tube, it's here: http://knoxblogs.com/humphreyhill/2014/10/01/first-vote-1-tv-commercial-aired/ - OS

Yeah, I've got a 637. Though I don't carry it, practiced from the pocket, no prob, thumb over or under hammer, no snag. I also have a Ruger SP101 DAO, and in retrospect, wish I had gotten the hammer version. - OS

I got two emails, one shortly after I purchased it on the 16th with my correct info, and one from about 1am today, with confirmation that it was being processed. It was the second email that had the attached PDF in it. - OS

Yeah, I'm fairly ambivalent about election of judges to begin with. It's bad enough that our system demands that prospective office holders have to spend many times more money to be elected than the job pays, but it seems especially bizarre that the same would be demanded of judges, who are supposed to be non-partisan to begin with. Hell, for the first time AFAIK, they had to raise big bucks just to defend in the retention election that's already in place. I have little confidence that judges being elected by the citizenry results in any higher quality makeup of the TN SCOTUS/appellate judiciary and consequently better "justice" at all. So I'm gonna go ahead and vote yea on #2. - OS

Much like cholera, one of the big factors in survivability is simple rehydration and electrolyte/potassium replacement as for any disease that includes severe diarrhea and vomiting. A simple saline IV early on could make the difference. - OS

Just a note to anyone who's been waiting like me, finally showed on site there the other day, still in stock right now: https://www.sigsauer.com/SigStore/sbx-pistol-stabilizing-brace-686.aspx Email receipt came with an interesting addition, too: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/82629-interesting-sig-screwup/ - OS

So just ordered the new SIG SBX brace from them the other day. Got a receipt in email, that had a 229 page PDF attachment. Which is actually 229 receipts to other customers for various SIG products, all dated 10/17, with names/addresses/emails. There are a couple of big orders to Brownell's in first few pages, other businesses, police departments, individuals. edit: wow, found one to the military, too, maybe minor national security issue there. Interesting little IT glitch there for sure. Not just me either, saw someone else mention it on another forum. - OS

Well, that's certainly rare, as feeding is one of the Minis strongest suits. Using factory mags of course right? And didn't futz with the gas port? - OS

Yep, from CDC (though they may not be our fav org right now): "Even if you have had shingles, you can still receive the shingles vaccine to help prevent future occurrences of the disease. There is no specific time that you must wait after having shingles before receiving the shingles vaccine. The decision on when to get vaccinated should be made with your health care provider. Generally, a person should make sure that the shingles rash has disappeared before getting vaccinated." - OS
-
Take the shot, you obstreperous old fart! ;) - OS
-
You "should" be perfectly safe from developing shingles. Or Chicken Pox that could lead to it later. - OS
-
I should have mentioned though, that while effectiveness seems really more like about 60% at best overall effective for preventing shingles, even if you still get shingles, the vaccine also has close to a 70% chance of preventing what's even worse -- PHN (postherpetic neuralgia), the chronic pain that some may develop after a shingles episode, and it can last the rest of one's life. - OS

Had seen that in the past, watched it again, and even half way through the sequel, until just like the characters in it, my head feels like exploding. Whole 'nother discussion so I'll just leave it at that in this one. - OS

Don't worry, he just appointed an Ebola czar -- a partisan insider politico lawyer. That's a relief. - OS

All points valid, but the government will never run out of money. It's just that at some point, it'll likely become Weimer Republic bucks, a nation of hungry billionaires. - OS

machine gun rentals in middle tennessee?
Oh Shoot replied to broylz's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Apparently this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11fcg543Jow Makes sense that a VFG on a pistol would be more dangerous in general, you'd tend to press outward against the recoil, so if it lets go, your hand would naturally snap forward. At least holding onto the front of the heater normally with your weak hand you're not pressing forward with it. - OS -

Here is Some Weirdo shooting one a couple years ago. I imagine only the first two or three shots in any run would likely have hit a person-sized object at 10 yards. Not on YouTube, so don't know any way to imbed it here. http://routedriver.home.comcast.net/pub/misc/MeAutoGlock.mp4 - OS -
Very enjoyable review! CIA seems to have sobered up their production lines anymore and gotten their exporters to get with the program too, even the Romanians with the WASRs. Seems screwed up rifles over the last year and a half or so are much more the exception than the rule. - OS
