For the abortion amendment under discussion, I don't have an opposition, that's my point. - OS
-
Where do y'all get that from? AFAIK, they simply tabulate the actual yes/no votes? Certainly willing to learn if different. If I don't vote for US Senator, does Lamar or Gordon get a vote? - OS
-
What a specious argument. Like saying if you don't drink soda, it's a choice for Pepsi instead of Coke. If you don't vote, you don't vote -- you're simply not part of the equation. You should be happy enough that I'm not negating your vote, eh? edit: I wuz wrong. Second time this decade. ;) If there is one, I'm nowhere near vain enough to claim knowing its mind. - OS

"designed or redesigned, made or remade" vs. "designed, made or adapted" It would still ultimately come down to distinction of having a stock or not. The brace "adapts" he firearm to be used on the forearm. Unlike the feds, if TN wants to prosecute you for "misusing" it by firing from the shoulder, then it would also be illegal to fire a Glock with two hands, or a long gun from the hip or a 1911 using the feet. Methinks you worry too much - TN would have to enact some statute to specifically make its use unlawful, like designating it as a stock. And who thinks anyone really cares anyway. Hell, they've already passed a law you can manufacture an SBR from scratch in TN if you like with no federal oversight at all. - OS
-
State laws on firearms can be more restrictive than federal law. Most all states' firearm laws are, including TN's, just a matter of degree. Sky's the limit unless overturned by federal courts, very few of which have. Our state law doesn't say anything beyond short definition of rifle, which echoes federal one. Anywhere we don't have a specific law that differs, TN has always acceded to federal definitions and rulings. ATF has never ruled that anything but the addition of a stock constitutes making a rifle. Could you be arrested for having an unstamped SBR in TN using the SIG brace? Sure, if some jurisdiction wants to call it a stock. Then it would play out from there in court, where the defense would almost certainly prevail, with a decent chance of successful lawsuit to boot. - OS

Don't know why you edited your post, it was correct originally. ATF has never in its history ruled about how you shoot a firearm, only whether a configuration is lawful or not. In the case of the SIG brace, they even issued another opinion that "misuse" of the device does not constitute an illegal act. So far (until Minority Report comes to fruition) intent is not a factor, and a stock is required for the firearm to be "adapted" for firing from the shoulder, and the SIG brace is not a stock. As far as the individual states, have not heard of any, even the commie ones, claiming the SIG brace constitutes having a stock either. Certainly TN and most of the other free states accede to Federal firearm law unless they have specific ones that differ. TN only has one that I know of, a definitional statute that a handgun has under a 12" barrel, though the only thing I can think of that would affect is what you can legally carry with an HCP. - OS

Never seen a bullet do that before!

They're purty, all chromey lookin and all, I'll give 'em that. - OS -
For moi: #1: Will not vote Abortion itself is perhaps the only major issue about which I still remain pretty much exactly ambivalent. Also, the amendment can't ban it, but will just cause a passel of restrictive bills against clinics and mothers, likely each of which will have to go through the courts, causing money, time, and indecision until most of them are struck down. A lawyer's delight only. But will let everyone else decide. #2: Yes. - Voting no will not cause election of judges unless legislature enacts legislation to cause that - Gov put the last two in with no oversight whatsoever, and that will continue if amendment doesn't pass, at least without new legislation -- at least this will cause legislative approval - If it's good enough for the Founding Fathers to do it this way, good enough for me, plus the amendment goes one step further even, requiring approval by both houses, and the retention elections continue #3: Yes. For sure. May not make any diff in long run as far as actual bucks taken from wallet, but at least each new tax will have to be debated and passed individually #4: Yes. Gambling laws are stupid. As long as the game ain't rigged, it should be allowed, even in my basement. And actually, I don't really see much diff between new amendment and what was already allowed anyway. Local city and county referendums on wine: Yes on both General principle of free enterprise. Same sin tax no matter who sells it. States where you can buy most of your sins in one place don't seem any the worse for it. Let chips fall where they may. Why not open up liquor sales too? (because of underhanded wheeling and dealing with money to be made in handing out the few licenses, I'd wager). Five City Charter referendums on pensions: No on all. Tried to research, still unclear. Can't vote for any change that I as a relatively well educated citizen can't understand. - OS

Hopefully, EMP is not part of the Zed Apocalypse, or most of your high dollar vehicles will become small shelters only. Assuming you can get out of them again! - OS

FWIW, numerous stores and reviews say it's a Benchmade. https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=HK%20Epidemic&gws_rd=ssl\ - OS

Correct orientation on Winders puter here viewed in post. But clicking image to get to the "save/image info" window, it flips to upside down. Very odd. I see you're using your Comcast web space -- I do too, but never had anything like that happen, can't explain it. First image doesn't doesn't do it. edit: here's direct link to actual image: https://home.comcast.net/~atlas3025/PSA3081.jpg And it's upside down. So the real question is: how does it show right side up to at least some of us in the post? Bizarre. - OS

WalMart Federal 9mm in Aluminum casing!
Oh Shoot replied to macville's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
I've shot a lot of aluminum .357 mag, same SAAMI pressure standard. Albeit not in a Glock. :) - OS -
Dehydration and electrolyte/potassium depletion alone kills x number of Ebola victims. It is the cause of dying from cholera, which we'll see again here if things ever go south enough for widespread sanitation services going down. Cholera fairly easily treated, even at home, as long as patient can drink, has to be done with IV if they cant. But sure, just IV early on with Ringer's Lactate or similar would allow x number of Ebola victims to survive the disease itself. Any disease with severe diarrhea/vomiting needs same basic treatment in that regard. - OS

Since they mention banks and convenience stores, probably adding some recorder and/or transmitter to get outgoing data like credit card and bank account info. Apparently this stuff is done a lot via "VSAT": http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Security-Watch/2014/0111/Cyber-security-Small-satellite-dish-systems-called-ripe-for-hacking - OS

You've perfected the Gray Man thang, seems. Maybe even the Cloak of Invisibility. - OS

Yep, so far at least, the way they've structured their business(es), still no tax shipped to TN. - OS
-
Awesome. Should ensure that Al Qaeda, Hamas, et al get copies, air drop DVDs over ISIS troop concentrations, etc. - OS

Yup, $710-763 in stock there depending on model. Plus $25 and it's in your hands if you have an FFL like mine. - OS

Yeah, don't get me wrong, OP, I'm all for knives, I'm a knife guy, think any kid maybe 10 or more should have some kind of knife. Hell, you can even carry a big one, I do, 5.5 inch Voyager, not much smaller than that 7" K-Bar. And I walk a lot and also have a neck knife on most of that time too. But I also carry a Buck Stockman, which is what the citizens generally get to see. And sure, a knife might even get ya out of a jamb, conceivably save your life, whatever, but has a better chance of that if it appears suddenly in surprise -- not toting around a honking combat blade openly. Hell, a lot of these toughs you're worried about carry heaters too ya know -- about as good a chance of one taking a shine to that knife and simply taking it from you as it would be a visual deterrent. - OS
-
Don't see how you could be charged with that anymore in TN. - OS
-
I don't know of any specific law forbidding it. On the other hand, expect extra attention from LEOs at any age. Also, if you're not thuggish enough to defend yourself without it, don't count on it to make the difference, and worst case it might even get you killed instead of merely trounced. And of course you know no knives period at any school, technically including college, right? - OS
-
None, unless "misused" ;) In which case just less bulk, a bit lighter, and debatably, aesthetics. - OS
-
are name brand ar's really worth the extra dough?
Oh Shoot replied to gomer pyle's topic in Long Guns
One advantage is that the entire gun is covered under whatever warranty the manufacturer offers. On the other hand, with halfway decent components, things seldom break and if they do, generally easily and rather inexpensively fixed by owner. You can often save 20% or more over complete rifle of same make just by buying a complete lower and complete upper separately when on sale, and then both are also warrantied. - OS -
Water was never the first choice of drink in ancient civilizations due to sanitation concerns. - OS

Gotcha. No, this was 229 separate purchases of all kinds of products made in one day directly from SIG, maybe all of them, dunno. Gordon, ya wanna total those up real quick for us? :) - OS
