If you mean the KAK buffer tube, it's about 1.5" longer than most standard "pistol tubes", although there's not exactly an industry standard for them. What makes all that longer on the AK pistol past the receiver is length of buffer tube adapter and length of folding adapter, plus maybe half inch of the offset brace. LOP on my AR pistol is just shy of 12" and this AK is 14.75". Folding adapter is about 1.75" of total. Guess you know, you can get a folding adapter for an AR too. Pricey though. http://www.lawtactical.com/ar_folding_stock_adapter_gen_3_p/2014003.htm - OS

To be fair, I don't "build" jack. Very far from what Gordon can do, I only throw somebody's finished parts together. :) - OS

freedom ammunitions is running there shipping special again.

Got some last time this was posted, 2 or 3 weeks ago, shipped within a couple days. - OS -
That's the way for every Wally I've been in for some good while now. Have bought any number of boxes of .223 and 7.62x39, only the .22LR have the 3 box limit, and there's generally a sign saying exactly that. - OS

All the "intestinal (non)fortitude" was actually due to the Sugar Free ones, not the ones in the linked ad. Amazon is bad about combining feedback with almost incidental products. It was the Maltitol sweetener in the others that caused all the crapola. Several of the sugar alcohols affect me that way too if I eat much of it at all. - OS

Might work fine in the PAP too, but they wouldn't work in either of my WASRs, so had already sent them back before I scored the pistol. - OS

I don't care for metal or kydex clips, but hard to find one that uses leather loops that still sits low enough, but this excellent TT Gunleather design does: - OS

Either/both. Text from law itself: From PUBLIC SAFETY (430 ILCS 66/) Firearm Concealed Carry Act. (e) Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transporting a concealed firearm within his or her vehicle in Illinois, if the concealed firearm remains within his or her vehicle and the non-resident: (1) is not prohibited from owning or possessing a firearm under federal law; (2) is eligible to carry a firearm in public under the laws of his or her state or territory of residence, as evidenced by the possession of a concealed carry license or permit issued by his or her state of residence, if applicable; and (3) is not in possession of a license under this Act. If the non-resident leaves his or her vehicle unattended, he or she shall store the firearm within a locked vehicle or locked container within the vehicle in accordance with subsection ( b ) of Section 65 of this Act. Rather than do or have done any smithing on back of receiver, went with US Machine Gun buffer tube grip adapter with added folding adapter and KAK Super buffer tube. Very pleased over all. The adapter is marvelous, really locks in securely, as had cutout for screw base, not held just by two prongs like the SB-47 SIG brace, compensates well enough for the angle on rear of receiver too. The folding adapter is "okay", locks up nicely horizontally, but has play vertically. In fairness, this doesn't seem to translate to any less efficiency should you decide to misuse the brace by shouldering it. ;) Was also able to add an AR endplate for quick one or two-point sling attachment. For anyone thinking about using the SBX/KAK combo on AR or AK, be aware -- this tube (and the original one they still sell without the castle nut) was made specifically for the SB-15 brace. The SBX brace will NOT reach the retaining flange on the KAK super tube (or the original SB-15 KAK tube either), due to the brace being a bit shorter in the channel than the SB-15 and the fact that part of that length is also denied by the wall in the back of the tube channel, as it is not open all the way through like the SB-15. t will leave about a .7" gap. Which doesn't matter as to functionality, as the back wall in the SBX channel will prevent forward movement on any buffer tube. But I thought it would look a bit odd, so thought ahead and got the spacer kit also, added the short one just for continuity of the look. And tell ya the truth, the only reason I really cared about making it a folder was so it would continue to fit the nice case I had already been using for the pistol in native form. If that folding adapter ever gets so sloppy it's a downside, can always just toss it and go straight into the adapter with buffer tube without it. Will keep the longer KAK spacer just in case, as it will pretty much make up for the difference in length if I do. - OS

Just a note: current 92FS and M9 also have the safety/decocker in slide, though of course do not have the mag release in that location in bottom of grip. And yes, current factory 92 mags do have both cutouts so would work in this model also. However, USGI contract mags do not have the bottom cutout, or at least the ones I have don't. Seems like a good buy, new 92FS always runs around $575 in hand at the least. - OS

Traveling by car from TN to NJ for an outing
Oh Shoot replied to RAJBCPA's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
That was my point too. A baseball bat in front seat even here could conceivably get you charged. Seriously. Not really likely, but possible under the statutes. Who knows about Joisey. At least you need to keep a ball and a couple of gloves with it as possible out. Here though, you can now have a machete or sword in your car. Or even walk about with one! - OS -

Cutco makes some pretty decent stuff, just no snob appeal. :) They own Ka-Bar, btw, so they do know good stuff. I'm quite lower mid range on my kitchen stuff. Sort of drifted into individual Cold Steel stuff over time, like Western Hunter and Long Hunter and Roach Belly, and eventually got a CS set, only about 150 clams, so no snob appeal there either, but they most certainly do the job. I still keep a couple of big cheapo serrated bohunks around for the more brutal stuff like sawing through raw rib sections and bone and whatnot, too. - OS

It's a MOE K2 grip and yes it is more upright, pretty much same as AK angle. Amazing ergonomic difference on a shot LOP firearm for such a small change, takes the tension out of elbow and wrist that the standard AR grip angle imposes. The SBX is actually going on an AK pistol, supposed to have last link of hardware tomorrow, will do a pic when I get it together. I like the looks of it better because there's simply less of it and folks so far report just as nice to misuse as the SB-15. ;) I have the SBX brace and KAK tube, and the SBX is shorter than SB-15 in tube channel, plus has a wall on back channel, all of which means it falls a good 1/2" or more short of the retaining flange on the tube unlike the SB-15. Thought ahead and got the spacers to compensate for that so there's no gap, dunno which one going to use yet till I it get it together and see which is best for misuse of the brace. - OS

G. Gordon Liddy often said, "I don't own firearms, my wife does". :) Seriously though, I think it's pretty well accepted that the only completely safe legal way in that situation is for the lawful owner to always have sole possession of them, either with person or locked away. On the other hand, I'd want my felonious mate to be able to save my life if it came to it regardless of any literal legal interpretation. Obviously, no legal advice is intended in this post. ;) - OS

Thing is, article not clear as to whether it's simply back to about same growth rate as pre Sandy Hook/legislation attempts, or maybe to be more pertinent, the growth rate pre Obama? Who in the industry hasn't experienced significant growth since BHO came aboard, and a veritable boom in the last couple of years? That sort of thing always leads to a glut ... if the EBR prices get much lower, they're gonna sell for scrap metal prices before long. Only ammo itself is still in significant growth cycle seems to me, with resultant high pricing and/or limited availability. I understand all the problems behind cranking up new production facilities and everything on .22LR for a "short term" shortage, but seems to me if someone had done it 2 years ago when it first go scarce, they could have bought a county or three by now with the profits. - OS

Like most thorny issues, I tend to default to individual freedom. Obviously anyone can off themselves whenever they want, but without benign help the methods are generally either iffy or rather gruesome, certainly far from a peaceful end. Seems to me it's pretty simple at least in the case of terminal illness. State should require maybe a couple of diagnoses in agreement, and then allow a doc to prescribe a painless way to go for the individual to avail when he chooses. So far, the "individual freedom" thing has swung the balance, to my mind, in most every complicated issue I've contemplated -- save one, that being abortion, where I still remain just about perfectly ambivalent. - OS
