  1. I've been watching a movie, but now enjoying watching MSNBC trying to find the few bright spots and hearing the excuses.   Joni Ernest, the Iowa Hog Castrater was victorious for US Senate, and the Republican Branstand kept the Governor's seat, good start for the 2016 kickoff, eh?   And Scott Walker held on over all the screaming UnionZeds and other commies in WI!   - OS
  2. PTL indeed from my state Representative district in Knoxville, Eddie Smith narrowly won over incumbent UberDemoCommie Gloria Johnson!   - OS
  3.     The guys on ARFCOM are praising their pistols, being sold through Primary Arms,  only one small glitch with handguard rail being a smidge lower than the upper has arisen on some models.   https://www.primaryarms.com/Complete_AR_15_Pistols_s/6686.htm   You might compare the Radical uppers being sold there also for comparison.   - OS
  4.   What about all the other possible fears of termination, like for no reason whatsoever ... want them to fix that, too?   - OS
  5.   Well, that's a good point ;). But worst happens, can replace them without undue pain -- this puppy cost more than some of my guns!   - OS

Even with my reading glasses it's not possible, and not really possible with 20/20 vision either. Front sight is the one to keep truly sharp in vision, the rear AR peep is only to "frame" the front sight, don't even try to "focus" on it -- closer to the eye the better for that, not farther away from it.   - OS
  7. Big wow here too! Even though it's about half again more than I've paid for any knife previously, I'd be pleased to carry it, but I've pretty well got delicate (Buck Stockman) to brutal (Cold Steel XL Voyager) covered with EDC. So this will just be a fine niche collectible for me I think.   It's so nice to have at least one high end blade, and one that signals the change in TN's knife law and also has a custom meaningful logo are big icings on the cake. Really a stellar classy shiv!   I add my sincere thanks for your efforts in this, Mr. Cutting. I mean, Willis. ;)   - OS
  8.   Used to be damn near universal around the state back when. I believe it harkens all the way back to the Boss Tweed era, when local ward heelers would supply booze for votes. Probably Jim Crowish influence in the South, too.   - OS
  9. Chrome/non-chrome lined barrels have debatable traits. My take is that if you clean your barrel regularly and don't do beau coup mag dumps, the non-chrome will be just as durable, and yes, with sometimes a slight edge on accuracy.   However, FN barrels are generally very well regarded as a cut well above the average period, and the only ones that PSA seems to ever offer also happen to be chrome lined. Maybe it's the only type FN makes, dunno.   - OS
  10.   I don't drink any more, but admit I feel a special tug on election days any more BEFORE I get to poll. Part of the "hold your nose and vote against the worst" thang.   - OS
  11.   It's done by local ordinance only, not a state law.   As I understand it, if jurisdiction allows liquor sales at all, then all alcohol sales including beer, cannot be regulated by local ordinance any more? Or at least regarding the election day thang.   - OS
  12.   What is the "simple possession"? Unregistered NFA item is a felony both under TN and federal law, and can be prosecuted under both.   If the configuration fits terms of the TN Firearm Freedom Act, TN can not charge you, but the Feds still can of course.   Note that full auto is not covered under the TFFA, btw.   - OS

If we're talking conventional scopes, you must be getting 30mm rings instead of 1 inch, which your scope seems to be. Generally the wrong way to go .. longer the sight radius the easier on the shooter. You simply need to adjust your iron sights correctly, as Gideon says: front sight is for elevation, turn it lower (clockwise) to raise point of impact. AR sight tool easiest way. Rear sight is for left/right windage. Again, I would suggest 50 yard zero as best all around option -- that will indeed make your closer shots a bit low, but easy to compensate for that distance, and from 50 to 225 yards or so is much closer than a 25 yard zero: As far as height with conventional scopes, dunno what's going on there. Higher rise are generally what's needed, and they will be necessary to get your scope to clear folded down rear sight also. As Gideon also mentioned, the P.E.P.R. is a good choice. On the other hand, I have one rifle with cheap UTG high rings that do nicely also. In both cases, I use quick detach models, which have been fine. PEPR mount: UTG high rings (they do just barely clear Magpul rear sight): - OS
  14. Some of the guys finally got slammed for it, forced retirement for one of them:   http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/11/03/early-retirement-discipline-ordered-for-4-utah-natl-guardsmen-in-pinup-calendar/   - OS
  15. Ordered good deal on buckshot from PSA Fri night, will be here Wed. Amazing.   - OS
  16.   Ruger adds new stuff more than any other manufacturer I know. Pretty amazing diversity really, especially when you figure in all the different calibers within each product line too.   - OS
  17.   Actually, they were pretty upfront in committee about the loss of revenue 2 years ago when this was tried, someone even proposed raising HCP fee by a certain amount, based on some formula that someone came up with about x numbers of guns bought by HCP holders per year.   - OS
  18.   I thought he didn't win? That TN SCOTUS refused to hear case, letting lower court decision stand?   There's also a guy who was pardoned by Obama himself, who didn't get to own guns in TN either.   - OS
  19.   Both old IE 8 and latest FireFox works there for me. Possible you don't have compatible Adobe Flash plugin, might need to update it for either one to work. Or you don't have it enabled.   - OS
  20.   Got Flash enabled for the site? That's how the numbers are generated.   Which browser?   And btw, I use AVG Free, and don't get that warning, but have the Web Browsing module disabled, maybe it's AVG telling you that? Dunno.   - OS
  21.   That's not the one who claims to have actually been the trigger man, whose interview will be shown on FOX the 11th and 12th:   http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/pentagon-objections-fox-news-will-745551   The 60 Minutes one is  "Mark Owen" who wrote No Easy Day, whose first part of interview aired last week, tonight is second part.   Here's first part of interview from last week's show.   http://www.cbsnews.com/news/seals-first-hand-account-of-bin-laden-killing/   edit: I see you caught it as I was typing.   - OS
  22. Note: Kahr recommends chambering first round by using slide release.   Also of course for high speed low drag operators,  it's a one hand operation instead of two   - OS
  23. Just to explain the diff: only the Trading Post lets you attach pix. In all the other forums, pix must be called from an off-site source.   - OS
  24.   These were 20 rounders through CDNN. Still in stock there:   http://www.cdnnsports.com/magazines/ak47-762x39-20rd-black-steel-mag-asian-military.html#.VFZ582csHk8   They locked in easily, but sat too low, somehow. Wouldn't strip rounds off left side of mag at all, iffy off right side. If anything could have made them work, it might have been to add metal to underside of tab, as they'd work if you held up on the mag while shooting.   Only mag I've found wouldn't work in the WASRs. So for 20 rounders I've just stuck with El Plastico Tapco, which have been flawless.   - OS
