Robert O'Neill (aka Osama Killer) in Maryville, TN tonight (11/6/2014)
Oh Shoot replied to runco's topic in General Chat
According to one source I heard today, it was never his intent to make his real identity publicly known, dunno. Did SOFREP originally out Owen/Bissonnette too, when did his real name first become known? I mean, even in the recent 60 Minute interviews he was heavily disguised with makeup. - OS -
You're not here with legal alien status though, right? I'm sure that adds an extra layer of possible FUBAR. - OS
-
Hell, seems possible that Liz Warren might even out-commie Hildebeest and get the nod. - OS

Well you don't have to dig far to see who the next prez after Slick Willie's impeachment was, eh? 106th Congress (Clinton's last year): Senate: 46 dem 54 rep House: 210 dem 222 rep 107th: Dubya's first term Senate: 50/50 House: 211 dem 221 rep So, all due respect to Charles and all, but seems clear the only real loss was the 4 seats in the Senate. The subsequent disastrous loss of both the House and Senate would have to be properly credited to the ongoing behavior of the Republican President and Congressmen over the next 8 years. Hell, Hussein himself (and Pelosi) gave the House back to the GOP, the Republicans couldn't take it on their own. - OS

Yep, and that "centrist" circle is farther left than a centrist of the past, too. I said it in another thread, but for all the "patriot" sentiment expressed here, Ted Cruz and his support base is almost as dangerous as the Left in the overall scheme of things in the next couple years, just in Congressional intrigue and gawd forbid that he makes a POTUS run too. Should he somehow actually get the nomination, it would be a landslide win for the Dems regardless of who they put up. He'd be extremely destructive even if he just runs and makes it through half the primaries. Of course, there's the question as to whether he's even eligible, but even the hoopla to decide that would be far from any kind of plus for the GOP or conservatism in general. - OS
-
Well, it led to a Republican president so the second part of your premise doesn't necessarily totally follow. Of course, the downside was that it was Dubya. - OS
-
Anything can happen, but I don't think he's probably ripe for consideration. If he can get through second term as gov without any more black eyes than the first, he's a lock for Lamar's seat, and I'm sure that's the plan. Much better base camp for assault of Everest, even though Lamar failed at that. Anything can happen though, veeps are often relatively unknown to the country at large. Thing is though, has to weigh odds of winning, too, even if asked. Has any candidate for veep that failed ever managed to later get the presidency, at least by the 20th century? - OS
-
I dunno. It would pass in a lot of states. Maybe even here? - OS
-
Given that as axiomatic, it still doesn't follow that I as an individual or the country as a whole fares equally well with either side. Small short term example: do you think gun laws would be anywhere near the same now if the Dems had kept their same 2008 majority by the time of Sandy Hook? - OS

True enough, but if they can send him bipartisan legislation, it will isolate his ass, a quite effective PR tool. BHO has show that he's do or die for the Party, and even he will see that he'll do more damage to it by being intractable than by a certain degree of going along to get along. Hell, even Obamacare was a compromise to a certain degree for him, he didn't get the single payer federal system he wanted. Of course, you're right that he's almost unique among presidents in his degree of rigid ideology and resultant demagoguery, so he may stick to his guns, trusting that history will see him as a humanist visionary rather than intractable un-American socialist, as it largely has for FDR. - OS
-
The GOP could really force BHO's hand to a certain degree and get some introductory legislation passed, and hit 2016 with a lot of momentum and good will among voters, and actually by gawd significantly fix some stuff if they can get the presidency. My understanding is that there are significant budgetary levers either or both Houses could use too. But hey, it's the GOP, ya know whut I mean Vern? Of course, if BHO lays down the gauntlet by granting de facto amnesty with executive order, they may not have much choice but to drop everything and impeach his damn ass. I'm sure they have waiting list of other articles of impeachment to drag out too, just to likely be able to convict on at least one of them. Then let the term wind down with a whimper with Uncle Joe. Of course, that might or might not sit well for their immediate future prospects, hard to know. Ted Cruze and supporters are the other wild card, could do about as much or more damage as any other factor. God forbid he should actually get the nomination too, would be historical landslide defeat against just about any Dem at all. Probably plenty enough damage if he just runs and makes it through the debates and half the primaries. - OS

You mean, just the hearing the snick of the blade won't make a perp two rooms away crap his pants and flee, same way racking a shotgun of course always does? - OS

Official TGO Pro Tech Godfather Buy in thread SOLD OUT
Oh Shoot replied to willis68's topic in Knives, Lights, EDC Gear
I figgered it was, thanks for confirmation. -
Everyone else's sort of "double clutch"? Meaning, sort of a two part release, "ka click"? And if you push blade fully into handle all the way so that button comes up to highest position, you can press button down to a first click that lets blade nudge out slightly but doesn't release it till pressed deeper? Maybe this is normal, and not a big deal, but since it was so pricey a thang thought I'd ask. - OS edit: oops, posted this in other thread in Knives too, oh well, maximum exposure I guess since I can't delete it. ;) edit 2: Willis said in other thread this is normal.

Well, it's either a school, involves money, or you mean "principle". ;) - OS

Wow. Does it take you out to dinner and show you a good time after? Two or three times? - OS

Are you really worried about them searching your car? If not, why worry about keeping your heater in there? - OS

Yeah, we could add an amendment that says all the other ones must actually be taken seriously and all. - OS

I can tell a slight diff between midlength and carbine. It's not translated to "recoil", but more like the internal "snap", feels less "violent" all else being equal. That being said, doubt if there's any significant diff in longevity of parts between them. If there is would be in round counts past when the barrel was shot out first on either. One thing midlength will do for ya though is give you more real estate on standard handguard config than carbine. Standard carbine handguard setup, not a lot of room for more than your hand, unless you use a vertical grip. Course, you can extend that with free float configs. - OS

One of the few downsides, Hickenlooper barely held on as Gov of Colorado. On the other hand incumbent Dem US Senator Udall was ousted. On the other other hand, the two State Senators that were installed in the recall elections both lost to libs. Bizarre mix out there. - OS

Careful of the door on the way out, Gloria. - OS
